I’m currently driving a Landy disco3. My train of thought was that a T5 kombi would have more space if I removed the seats as and when needed then pop them back in when I need to ferry family/friends around. Perhaps a T5 van would be a better choice as i already have use of the wife’s car.

This is the car in question T5 Kombi

If I wire two on one plug, might free up a socket on my extension lead.

Those look really neat, Dave C. What cable would I need to wire these up? Also would a standard 13amp plug be ok? Just compiling a shopping list 😀

Thanks nemesis. I’ve got a heavy duty 4 socket extension lead with a built in rcd, will that be good enough?

Excellent. Just found these on Screwfix Worklight that look like they might do just the job.

Cheers for all the help and advice

Cool. I was thinking of kitchen strip lights but those task lights look superb…. How bright are they? Good thinking about the ‘drip loop’ too 🙂

My current camera is a Fuji X100. Lovely for most things but the fixed lens means no zoom. Like the look of the X20 but 4x optical zoom might not be enough.

Thanks for the replies and reviews. Really appreciate all your help. Forgot to say, image quality is important but so is size (must be able to fit in a pocket) and a reasonable optical zoom (I see lots of wildlife on my doggy walks and they are often too far away for me to photograph)

In answer to the question, what would I do if the same thing happened again? If it was another indie bike shop, I would do exactly what I did with Pitsford Cycles and tell them.

Do “complete novice” & “Festool” belong in the same sentance?

In my world were I try and by quality stuff, yes 😀 I like stuff that lasts and will give me years of trouble free use without too much trouble. I intend on using it for more things once I’ve got my workshop put together. I’ve seen Dewalt and Makita stuff that are a shade over half the price of Festool but does half the price mean half as good?

I’ve got a 4s at the moment. It’s mainly used for photographing and uploading to websites etc with occasional phone calls/texts 🙂

I wonder if the iPhone6 will be that much different to a 5s?

Known as ‘prick through’ lighting. It was used by the military for years until they, amazingly, found something that was safer!
Cheers for that link, looks just the job for me.

Where you at? I’ve got one you could borrow. 110v tho.

That’s a really generous offer. I need to buy/make some so I can use it in a display, but thanks for the offer.

So either a lefty, a fox float 32 or a Rs Reba an Shimano Xtr brakes. Hmmm seems like I’ve got some bargain hunting to do 🙂

Awesome! Thanks for all the replies. I’ve never bought replacement forks before, what do I need to look for in terms of size? How do I know what fork will fit my swifts frame.

I really need the space of a disco 3. I can’t afford a van & a car so the extra space suits my needs. Shame really because the Freelander 2 is quite a nice vehicle.

Well, test drove the Freelander 2. Very nice car to drive (auto) but somehow felt smaller inside than my old CRV. Also had a drive in a basic spec Discovery 3 with a manual box and found that very nice to drive, if a little sluggish, but the room inside is more suitable for my needs. I was caught on the hop with the D3 as it wasn’t something I had considered but quite liked it. Hmmmm what to do. 😀

Awesome! Thanks for the replies. We own a 2002 Honda Crv and toyed with the idea of getting another but we fancied a change and the freelander 2 looked similar in size. Not sure if giving up a super reliable but boring Honda is a good idea but tomorrow’s test drive will hopefully answer a few doubts.

Also looking to buy a VW caddy… Seen a 1.9 TDI with a DSG box but not sure whether that’s a good thing to have on a small van (future resale)

Thanks for taking time to reply. I’ve just sold my flat in wimbledon and will be moving into a rental in rural Northamptonshire in 2 weeks time. I couldn’t find the right property to buy so opted to rent in order to move the sale along and give myself more time to house hunt. I will be looking to buy early in the new year but It’s always nice to get some valued second opinions from STW.

Cheers chaps. I shall start with replacing both bulbs and see if that works. It seems this is a really common problem with CRV’s of this vintage.

Thanks chaps. I shall go and have a look at what contracts are available. It makes sense that if the ipad has a better aerial than the iPhone, it will pickup signal better.

I bought some chunky DMR V8s and the pins are grippy, so far no foot slippage… However, if my foot does slip, my legs will get shredded :-O

@rocketdog. What’s shocking about 36:16? 😀 I’ve never experimented with other ratios so have no idea what’s good or bad. I’m just putting my ‘walking up some hills’ and ‘almost dying from exhaustion’ down to the fact I’m overweight, crap diet, unfit and relatively new to SS 😀

I’ve got 36:16 on my 29er Swift. It’s my first SS bike and I’m loving it. It makes every hill a challenge. The bike is fully rigid and my full suspension specialized hasn’t been used in the past 6 months.

That’s exactly it, the helmet itself is a particular shape with little room for adjustment. I just got the feeling it was the wrong shape for me and no amount of swapping pads etc would help. I shall check out the Giro Feature, thanks for the info.

And agree about the colour scheme, urgh, they make it look really cheap n nasty

I have very little hair, shaved with no guard… so effectively a stubbley version of Kojak 😀 It does seem to sit quite high at the front compared to photos i’ve seen online, so it’s either the padding or my massive forehead.

    womble72
    Free Member

So I tried it on and it felt ok but it seemed a bit high on the forehead… didn’t like this colour scheme and as it was all they had, I came away empty handed 🙁

What do you think to the fit? To high or just right? I tried normal style helmets on and they looked absolutely massive and mushroom like :-/

Edited to say how impressive my double chin looks in that strap 😀
