I have looked at MFT and was considering a lumix gh4 and the new 100-400 lumix lens but they were over budget.

Sony A7. Hmmmmm seems I have some reading to do. Thanks for the suggestion. I’m looking for good frames per second, good auto focus, decent low light capability and the best reach I can afford within my budget.

Bubs – Do you have an image sample I could have a look at? My panny is really a superzoom pocket camera and while the image quality is very good in optical, it all falls apart in digital.

I had a go at Banting about a year ago. My wife is from Cape Town and it is quite popular over there and we decided to give it a go when we returned to the uk. I have the worst diet goiing… Biscuits with every cup of tea, puddings every day, left over cake in the mornings (if there was any left in the house. I had quite the addiction to sugar. I went cold turkey with the Banting and gave up sugar straight away. Spent time preparing meals, followed recipes in my Banting books etc etc and it was absolute hell for the first month while I got used to living without sugary snacks and carbs. Really got into it though and thoroughly enjoyed all the meals. I lost 2 stone over 8 months, had more energy than ever, never felt hungry, ate less, my mood lifted, even joined an exercise class. Then I went on holiday for three weeks, fell off the wagon and stopped Banting. Piled on the weight, lost all my energy and enthusiasm and back to snacking. Banting is amazing once you get into it, just make sure you stick to it and treat it as a lifestyle not a diet.

Thanks guys, some lovely suggestions. She’s not really a long distance walker anymore but she does love a good sprint around so a beach will be perfect.

It’s a yae from me. 2013 116 swb van owner. Fast, comfy and nice to drive. Better equipped and cheaper than the T5 equivalent. You can go to Pendle and get them remapped for not much money.

I hear ya. I guess I was being seduced by the looks and the image (the noise potential 8O) of a street brat/flat tracker. It’s funny though how my taste has changed as I get older. Growing up with pocket rockets, then road rockets, I had no interest in any other style of bike. I then went on a CCM demo day and fell in love with wide bar, torquey throbbers. The CCM was an unreliable pos and made way for a KTM which was the most fun I’d ever had on two wheels. Weeksy, I fear the Orange side is still whispering to me 😆

Ooh you lot have some nice bikes. I quite fancied a street tracker style bike, something fun and a bit different. I won’t be doing Ewan McGregor epic journeys or looking to break speed records just something to blow the cobwebs away on days that allow me too. Here’s one example Custom

I was given a bag of slablayer to try. For some reason I couldn’t get the slab to sit level, tapped it with a rubber mallet but it hardly moved. Laid some wood across it, tapped it with a heavier lump hammer it seemed OK until later I noticed a thin dark line appearing across the slab from the moisture of the slablayer. Gave up and had a beer. Tomorrow’s another day 😀

So 10 sharp sand – 1 cement, mix in my wheelbarrow, rake level, lay slab, faff with the levels, swear a bit etc etc 😀 😀 Should I leave a 10mm gap to mortar or just butt the edges together?

Morning gang. So a week later and in between work stuff, I’ve been digging and levelling a Base for my shed/summerhouse.I hammered pegs into the ground to find the level and then Put an mot1 sub Base down and hand tampered it down with one of those 10kg hand tools to the top of my pegs. I bought some 600mm2 slabs yesterday and I was going to put them on a wet bed but having never actually mixed sand/cement before I’m unsure whats the best ratio mix. I noticed there was a product called slablayer that you sprinkle, level and just add water. Its expensive but sounds to good to be true. Has anyone used it? Or should I just use a wet mix?

Cheers guys. I’ll clear the ground and see just how bad the slope is. I’ve never attempted anything like this before so if it fails and looks crap….. I’ll post pics on here

When you get 5 minutes, Google Tim Noakes LCHF Diet, I dropped 15kg over 6 months and while it took me a few weeks to get used to low carbs, my energy levels improved massively over time.

Good morning Stw. The last time I had a Games console was when the Ps2 first came out, not quite sure how many years ago that was

Not excusing the inconsiderate parking but couldn’t the ambulance driver just reverse, pull forward into the road and shuffle the ambulance so the rear door could open onto the pavement? I know the ambulance would then be blocking the road for a few minutes but it’s a bright yellow vehicle, easily visible for other traffic to see it and stop for a few minutes.

kettlebells for the win! Last year I started a low carb high fat diet and joined a local kettlebell class. The instructor was ace, the classes are awesome and I looked leaner and stronger. Brutal classes if you put the effort in. Dropped 13kg in body weight over 6months doing one class per week combined with the diet. Highly recommended.

The Bosch gets good reviews. Plasticky and lightweight materials but some find the lightweight a bonus. Spare battery would be about £80-90 and Bosch also do a range of strimmers, trimmers and blowers that use the same battery. Wish I could demo one for a few weeks.

I was lucky to be there on the day. I live 5 mins away from Sywell. Had a tip off that the Vulcan was going to be there at a private charity event. I’ve only got a pocket camera but it was nice to capture some memories of what was (unbeknown to me at the time) the last time I would see the Vulcan in the skies

The skoda yeti 4×4 looks like a vehicle that would suit our needs, gets good reviews too. Not sure it’s retro styleeee but it pretty much would do everything we need it too. Anyone on here own one of these?

I’m not keen on cages in the back of the van as it has a bulkhead and I do like to keep an eye on them to make sure they are comfortable.

    FFS they’re dogs not babies!

Going to avoid anything Land Rover badged, I’ve owned several and they were all money pits. I do love them but after so many bad relationships with them, it’s time to face facts that it’s never going to work and I’ve scratched the itch. I was thinking new(ish) HondaCRV, I had a 2nd gen version and although it was great but it was a bit on the thirsty side…. Wife is not mad about them though.

Yes, totally my fault for selling the disco and getting the van and not thinking ahead. We’ve always been a one car family but since relocating to quite a rural location we needed a car for the wife as well. Our business needs demanded recently that a disco was no longer needed and a van is essential. To be honest, where we live is beautiful and really ace for dogs and that’s cool but we realise that a beetle doesn’t quite work when it comes to vet trips and future holidays if we take the dogs with us. I’m not keen on cages in the back of the van as it has a bulkhead and I do like to keep an eye on them to make sure they are comfortable. A mini clubman was the only car I could think of hence me asking for advice. The Beetle is deceptively large (on the exterior) so I suppose we could look at something slightly bigger than the mini.
