As you have the receipt for the works which were carried out I'd go and see the garage that did it and ask them what they'd advise, I find going with a "please can you help me" attitude rather than a "what the hell have you done" one helps.

The worst than can happen is they politely suggest you go away.

Have you spoken to Trading Standards or the CAB about it?

Is it a local garage or part of a chain?

My LBS recon that Sram cassettes are slightly "softer" than Shimano and therefore wear quicker, same with chains. I've used both and can't tell the difference. Am on Sram shifters & Mechs at the mo and love them but am on Shimano on the old Giant (now used for shopping/pub) and they're good too.

I say buy whichever, they're probably as good as each other really.

I've use this or very similar products in commercial settings for a few years now. I recently revisited some I had installed on the main stairs of a secondary school about 7 years ago and it still looks good even though it was light grey.

It's fine for showers/wetrooms IIRC but you need to make sure it's installed by certified fitter as the warranty (25 years I think for the Pirelli version) is only valid if their approved installer puts it in.

Obviously you need to make sure the joins between sheets and at the corners where it laps up the wall are sealed properly.

I have a 2006 2.0 TDCi focus which makes a slight whirring noise for a few seconds after the engine's turned off. I asked my local dealer about it and he said it was normal on the 2.0 and 1.6 as these were the newer engines, can't remember what it was that made the noise though.

I've had it for 3 years and have 82k miles on it, I get around 53mpg and am very happy with it.

Could be the input or output pipe to/from the turbo has let go. This would result in loss of power and smoking as the engine's tuned to operate with the turbo and intercooler both working.

    Which TDCi engine is it?

EDIT. This shouldn't bee too bad to fix if it's just a new pipe that's required.

I'm not sure what the AM50 loos like but I've got a pair of MT50s and they're spot on, comfy, not too hot and protect your ankle bones.

Not too bad for walking into the pub in at the end of the ride either

Why not get a set of roof bar mounted ones, you can then remove the bike racks & roof bars all as one unit so they just take a couple of mins to fit/remove. Not too hard to reach either as the Megane's quite a low car.

This works a treat for me.

    Put one bottle in fridge.

Once chilled mix 50/50 with a bottle at room temp for perfect pint (or 500ml).

This method ensures you have to have 2 drinks too….

Ewan, you're absolutely correct, they'd be hampered by the lack of opposable thumbs.
Incidentally, the lack of thumbs is why you never see pigs hitch-hiking.

Cooking tip of the day…..wear a pair of those plastic gloves you get at petrol stations (inside out for cleanliness)when dealing with chillis. Then you can just throw them away afterwards.

I'm not convinced that insurance companies are that bothered what level of cover you've had in the past. I think they're muche more interested in accidents and convictions (or, ideally, a complete lack of both :-) )

Strikes me that if the car's worth about £200 the chances of the insurance writing it off if it has much of a bump is quite high..do you need fully comp?

    wombat

Check you'd be getting all the cover you need and nothing you don't. You don't need to be paying for bundles extras like roadside assistance if you've already got it elsewhere.

But…A lot of cheap insurance quotations don't include things like courtesy car cover or glass cover and often have a low maximum payout for theft of personal items from the vehicle.

If you've checked these things and can live without them then I'd say why not go for it?

Have you had a new windscreen installed recently?

My inlaws had an 03 focus, when they had a new windscreen put in the muppets that did it didn't replace the seals properly, they ended up with about 3 inches of water in their footwell.

Uplink's suggestion looks like a good possibility if the screen's not new

There are 2 or 3 droppoffs that are tricky but all the rest of the Black run is perfectly rideable, mostly no worse than the Red really. I've ridden it a couple of times on my 120mm hardtail without much trouble (not the big droppoffs though but they're easily walked/ridden round).
IIRC it took us about an hour and a half to get round the Black

I quite liked your gaffa tape solution, suitably utilitarian….just need white gaffa tape to match the frame..
