I could make you a stem that would take a 12 foot scaffold tube if that would help.

I'll even make some new clamps for your brakes & shifters if you like…..

Remember that you are interviewing them as much as they're interviewing you.

and if all else fails, imagine the interviewer(s) is/are sitting on toilets behind their desk…always works for me and keeps the formality from getting too much

    Good luck

There's the Subaru Sumo (all will be rather elderly)
VW Caddy pickup was available a few years ago,
There was quite a good Hyundai one too but I can't remenber what they were called.

I drove a Peugeot 504 Pickup for a bit back in the 80s, was absolutely ace, no top end (60mph max with the 2.3 non turbo diesel) but could pull/transport prett much anything, 3 seater too, I'd have anither just for the giggle factor…..

I'd tell them that is was for sale and that they could have it for £150 if they wanted it (which would be a bargain, naturally . )

If not they can cough or I'll get the rozzers

    I'd give them 24 hours.

FWIW I always insist on immediate payment with BINs been mucked about in the past……

My mate's brother's girlfriend's cousin told me that if you drive (fly?) one on the road you get paid 10p/mile by the government as a sort of negative insurance because they don't wear out the tarmac, don't crush the wildlife and blow all the leaves & grit away so the road is cleaner after you've driven (flown?) over it….probably

    DFS = Dreadful **** Sofas.

don't do it! and if you do, then demand 40% discount or walk.

Quite right, IME they're the worst furniture available bar none. If you must have one from there pay no more than £25 and even then you may well be ripped off….

Avoid at all costs, I bought one once, it lasted less than a year…Never again…

I'd recommend that you don't bother, they're a lot noiser than you might think and they cost a packet to run so expect a decent spike in your electricity bills if you do go for one.

You also need to keep all your windows closed when it's running or you'll end up cooling the street.

My skinflint tip is to buy a desk fan and put a bowl of ice (you can put the whole bowl in the freezer to re-freeze once it melts) in front of it so it blows over the ice. It's surprisingly effective if you get the angle of blow correct…..

it's also a lot cheaper and much quieter…

All that effort for something that's going to be a five minute wonder, after which it will just take up room and end up going down the tip.

Not even close, my two played with theirs until the elastic broke (about 2 1/2 years) and then complained when I tried to deispose of the wreckage.

Look for one that has the inge at the front and the lock at the back. That way the lock stays (relatively) free from road crud and if the fastening fails the forward motion of the car and the wind passing over it will tend to kep the box closed rather than flipping it open.

I was behind a car a few years ago when their roofbox flipped open…sleeping bags, folding chairs, coats & boots everywhere 8O funny(ish) with hindsight, bl00dy scary at the time. Was very lucky not to hit anything solid or be shunted by the car transporter that was following me. 8O

I would be interested to know what they would say if you informed tham that since the date of their "visit" you have been unable to find a particularly valuable item (rolex/some cash/picasso/Henry Moore bronze)(not suggesting that you actually accuse them of anything you understand  )
