AIUI the license is for the posession of equipment capable of receiving a TV signal so even if your TV is disconnected and in a box in the loft you still have to have a license for it.

IIRC The only way round paying the license (legitimately) would be to dispose of your TV and replace it with a monitor (without a tuner) and watch DVDs on that.

That seems like quite a lot, don’t most bikes have just 1 or 2? 😉

So, if there was an appropriate bike bag option that could be used to zip them up and keep the crud in one place whilst also offering dome protection to the bike and car body work and upholstery there may be some interest. . . . price dependent. i know there are bike bags out there but if it were more specific to mountain bikes and not one that necessitates taking both wheels of and twisting bars and stem etc

I think that sounds like a good idea in principle but it seems that the majority of folks that transport their bike(s) inside their car need to remove a wheel (or sometimes both wheels) and potentially turn the bars & forks a bit (without loostening them) in order to fit the bike(s) in the car so you may find that it would be of more use as an inside the house storage place rather than for use in a car.

I can fit my bike fully built into the back of my car with the seats down but need to manipulate the steering a bit to get it through the hatchback opening & I’d need to be sure that I could still do it with the bike bagged.

Not trying to be negative, I like the idea, just wanting to assist in ironing out potential issues.

    Just a one-off

But if this special one off is well received it’d increase the likelihood of it being brought back for a series (or several) 8)

Anyone tried using a steam cleaner on their chain?

Mrs Wombat wants on and I’d be much more keen on the idea if it had a proper use rather than just having it for the hob/bathroom/wooden floors…

I have a 10 year old Giant Terrago (the V brakes one) that still has the original drivechain on it and it works fine (although I know it’ll now explode the next time I look at it 🙄 ).

I bought the bike new and used it at least weekly for the first 3 years of its life and I’ve ridden the coats to coast on it 3 times.

It’s been my pub/hack bike for the past 4 years with 2/3 ride a week.

I’ve got to the point with it that I know the entire drivechain will need to be replaced en-masse (I’ve even got the parts ready) but as it only gets used for short runs of <2 miles I’m not going to be too far from home if when it breaks so I’m just going to see how long it will actually last 😀

    It still shifts fine btw

I just leave the WiFi enabled on the handset, I used to turn it off when away from home but it didn’t seem to make any difference to the battery life so I stopped. It might make a difference, I’m just saying I didn’t notice it on my handset.

It is a standard feature, both my current Curve 9230 and previous Bold 9000 did an automatic switch over to use wi fi for data.

Get a 30 mile event organised and make sure someone else insists he takes part. I can almost hear the conversation now….

“oh go on, you did so well with that 20 miler you did the other week/month/year*. Just think of the look on the faces of the children/fluffy bunnies/orphan donkeys* when we give them a giant comedy cheque….”

    *delete as appropriate

As someone else does the insisting it wouldn’t be traced back to you and you could be on hand to make sure he completes the event, suppers and raised cash for a worthy cause, everyone’s a winner 8)

I remember a TV advert for a soup which the voice-over proudly declared was made from “100% ingredients”

I’d hate to get to the bottom of a bowl of supposedly inferior soup to find a void that was there because they’d only used 80% ingredients and left the rest empty 🙄

If you reduce the pressure in your front tyre it will have the effect of lowering the bars, you won’t gain a full 2cm just at the bottom but if you could lose 1cm all round that would total 2cm as you’d lose 1cm from the top and 1cm from the bottom.

With the bars being 2cm lower this will have the effect of lowering the bars by 2cm and make up for the hose length shortfall…….probably 😉

It’s actually badger snot so all you need is a badger & some pepper.
Administer the pepper (ground finely) to the badger’s nose, catch the resulting emission and apply to the surface of your choice

My daughter has to carry an Epipen for a nut allergy (thankfully haven’t had to use it yet) and has done for the past 8 years.

Your New Starter’s Dr’s surgery will be able to lend her (and you) a dummy one without a needle or dose in it to practice with so you can get the feel for it.

I think whoever does your 1st Aid training will also probably be able to help with this.

    EDIT

The instrustions that are printes on the side of the pen are very good. Above all, if you have to use it DON’T PANIC!!
