    Plus 10% off so £22.50.

Got to be worth a punt.

    Thanks for the PSA

Ordered one and will return it is it’s rubbish

    No.

Simplistically put, dropping bombs on “them” will only make more of “them” and “they” will doubtless turn their attention to the UK, if it’s not already on us. It needs a better solution – and I have no idea what that might be – than simply shooting and bombing indiscriminately

    No.

I share John_Drummer’s rationale on this

I liked the slide over the table and remount the bike bit but would like to see it at full speed, not slowed down.

They show three separate full-speed takes of it during the credits @6:45 [/quote]

Thanks for that Graham, have now watched the credits

it’s worth watching for the tippy toes on keyboard alone! nearly spat my coffee!

Yes, it’s vaguely amusing, but that bit broke the illusion. The point is mean to be the incredible riding, and since that bit was obviously faked then it makes you wonder about the rest of it.

    Me too.

Just use warm water. I’ve been doing this for many years – it works perfectly everytime and takes a very short time to defrost the car. Doesn’t work so well when you’re out for the evening obviously

And leaves re-frozen water on the road…

And, judging by the young lady who lives at the end of our road, a kettle on the drive until she returns from work

I’d expect a laptop of that spec to carry a four-figure price tag

Hmm, yes, I’m just discovering this.

Virtually nothing under the £500 mark.

If you want a gaming rig, you’re much better off with a desktop PC (or an Xbox / Playstation).

    This too.

Looks as though a PS4 might be a better bet.

Every time an appliance is left switched on and unattended or the thermostat is turned up too much or you leave your car idling when you could switch off the engine or you leave the fridge door open or you overfill the kettle an elf will shoot a baby reindeer.

    Snappier versions may be available

There also seems to be a glut of iphone 5’s and 5s(‘s). I can’t tell whether this would be a downgrade or not.

I have a personal Z1 compact and (provided by the company) a work iPhone 5s.

Not getting into an iOs vs Android debate but purely in relation to the hardware IMO the Z1 is far superior, better build quality, more robust, waterproof and a beter shape for my hand. Also I find the call quality clearer and battery life far better.

You could use one (or more) of the double sided sticky pads that are used to attach numberplates to the bumper

A bit like these Sticky Pads (or you could just use these if you prefer)

Seriously? I know their older diesel engines were good, but would you trust them to make a modern pepper grinder?

    Yes, seriously.

Mrs Wombat used to work for a fancy kitchenware retailer and Peugeot were the best by a large margin (based on fewest returns & trying a few other brands in demo days (yea, really)). We’ve got one (and a salt one) and they’re both head and shoulders better that the Cole & Mason ones they replaced.

They simply work (and will almost certainly continue to do so for may years)

Get a Peugeot one, they’re the bees’ knees of pepper grinders.

I assume from this that the people at Parcelforce aren’t aware that the Earth’s atmosphere is mostly nitrogen with a bit of oxygen and other things floating about in it and therfore every parcel they transport contains gas.

I’ve an “enduro guard” from RRP

I’ve got one of these, very good in summer, helpful in reducing the amount of facial splatter in winter.

Keeps the stanchions clear of mud in all but the absolutely works conditions so makes cleaning/maintenance of forks easier.

Nature is basically just one big resturant.

Everything is either trying to eat something or procreate with something and will use its best moves to achieve this.

Sometimes your best moves aren’t quite up to the job…

Sometime around 2003 I parked at the visitor centre carpark at the top of Sutton Bank (North Yorks Moors) for a cheeky loop with a mate on my way home.

    Took bike from car boot.

    Refitted front wheel.

Set off to ride down Sutton Bank (approx 1:4).

Realise about 100m down the road that I’d omitted to reconnect the front V brake.

Attempt (not very successfully) to scrub off some speed with rear brake.

Opt to take the left turn into the woods at the apex of the 1st hairpin bend and mentally prepare myself for trying to negotiate a very narrow gap to the side of the vehicle gate at considerable speed.

Discover that the telegraph pole vehicle gate that’s usually in place just inside the turnoff has been left open by some helpful forestry worker.

Eventually stop some way into the woods and refit front brakes.

I’ve been carrying out almost obsessive checking of my bikes whenever they’ve been unloaded from vehicles ever since.

Mindmap3, the fixed handlebar mount looks very similar to the one off my Hope V2, do you happen to know if they’re compatable?

I once asked Wombat Jr (13) to watch me back while I reversed up to a dry stone wall with a loaded towbar mounted rack on….

Me: Am I close to the wall?
W Jr: You can come back a bit more if you like
Me, thinking I was already pretty close: um, OK
    Reverse a further 10mm
    W Jr (loudly): Stop now!!!!

I got out to look and I recon I could just about have got a sheet of tissue paper between the rack and the wall.

Me: That was a bit closer than I was expecting….
W Jr: Hmm, I suppose so, you didn’t actually hit it though

Wombat Jr has now been instructed in the art of guiding a reversing vehicle and informed that an interference fit with the imovable object is not the desired result

Its because their default initial response to everything is “we’re not liable”.

It sounds as though they may well have a hard time wriggling out of paying in this case though

AFAIK it’s only classed as being for hire or reward if you’re being paid for doing the driving. As you’re contributing to the cost of the trip by paying for yourself (and daughter) it’s not a commercial arrangement so IMO you’re effectively simply driving a bunch of mates to an event.

It’s the same as you driving a few people to an event in your own car where the passengers contribute to the cost of fuel, the only difference is that in this case you’re collectively hiring a minibus to travel in.

For the Bolton to York section I’d do (pretty much) the reverse of this route.

    https://connect.garmin.com/activity/334504732

Then go North up the Vale of York to Thirsk/Northallerton (pretty much flat).
