A playlist doesn’t require the thought or commitment of a well crafted mix tape.

The presence of a CD player isn’t the only criterion for a potential car purchase, that’s would be silly

@Johndrummer, you’d think so wouldn’t you but so far the list is, current model Skoda Superb, Peugeot 508 and 308 so far, available as an option on Mazda 6 and a couple of Volvos
    Edit
Might try Dacia if it means I can keep my bangin choonz

The real PITA will be converting all the Cds I have in my car to put them onto an mp3 music player.
I’ve not even finished transferring my vinyl to Cd yet.

Jambalaya, I have a CD changer in my current (6 year old) car and use it all the time.

That may be fine on the drive but how does it work when the car’s away from the house, anyway we’re not with BT, we went with Sky instead.
    I’m only 46

The sole thickness/feel thing is interesting. If I’m riding flats is use the Spitfires, if I’m riding SPD I have a pair of Shimano MT34s and fine them both equally comfy.

Looks as though it’s down to a choice between the Frerides and the Spesh 2FO as the Impacts sound a bit stiffer than I’m used to.

    Thanks for the replies.
    The Spesh 2f0 look good.
I really like the grip from the Spitfires but I suspect that their somewhat untimely demise is as a result of water/mud penetration so wouldn’t mind trying something that would dry a bit quicker

@thecaptain, Wombat Jr will be paying the extra over cost of insuring her on the car, it will also be used by Mrs Wombat for work & child ferrying duties.

The second car has been on the horizon for a few months now due to work changes, we’re just trying to maximise the potential usefulness of any vehicle we get.

Well, following consultation with the well informed meerkats it would appear that we can insure a 10 year old 1.3 Suzuki Ignis fully comp with Wombat Jr as main driver (provisional license, 17 y/o) and me as a named second driver (full licence, quite a bit older) for a smidge over £400 a year with a £350 excess, based on 8k miles p/a.

I’m very pleasantly surprised but I also know that once she passes there’s likely to be a fairly significant hike in this price 8O

I stay at The George occasionally for work, 5 ins walk from Waverley station, nice interior (particularly now the rooms have been refurbished).

Thanks for the replies, I like the idea of an Ignis or old (possibly 1.9d) Golf.

Got a couple of months to decide what to do, guess I’ll be spending a fair bit of time consulting meerkats during Augus & September.

Thanks for the tip Ecky Thump, will investigate that option

Like the sound of the Ignis.

I had a 1986 Panda 999cc, what an excellent vehicle it was (yes, really)

I live about 10 miles from RAF Leeming, saw a couple of these fly over about an hour ago.

Amazing looking machines, not seen any since I lived in East Anglia in the 80s/90s

I’ve had one for about 18 months, used it primarily for all day trail runs/walks, Yorkshire 3 peaks and the like last year.

Can fit a surprising amount in it, lunch, snacks and more water (if its a warm day) inside and a packaway waterproof & lightweight waterproof trousers bundled up inside the external straps. Waterproofs will fit inside if you’re not taking much food (or are going to be passing a Greggs…)

The water bottles fit really securely and are easy to remove/replace on the fly.

An added bonus is that 4 mini pork pies fit really neatly into one of the waist pouches leaving the other side for keys/phone/jelly babies

Doesn’t bounce around too badly if it’s well loaded. IME it tends to bounce more if its only partly full.

Started using it on the bike recently instead of a CB Mule, works very well. The waist straps are quite narrow so don’t dig in round the waist when you bend forward on the bike.

As and when it need replacing I’d buy another one without a second thought.

Duckman, thanks for the offer I’m in North Yorkshire so it’s a bit far to travel for a test ride.
Like the look of both the Ramin and the Sentier, will do a bit more research and compare geometry with my Bizango to get an idea of how they’ll ride

Already got a Voodoo Bizango (bought s/h) that I’ll be selling to partially fund the new bike.

Have a 2009 Boardman Pro H/T 26″ partially dismantled (very good but want a bit more travel and slackness) may well sell this to fund new bike too.

Wombat Jnrs have entry level Rockriders, seem OK for them, are the more high spec Decathlon offerings OK?

My Dad had to go into hospital to have a polyp removed from his lower bowel (turned out to be benign).
At his pre-surgery consultation he was asked by the surgeon if he had any questions about the procedure.
Dad, “Will I be able to ride a unicycle afterwards?”
Surgeon, “Yes, no problem but I’d give it a couple of weeks after the operation”
Dad, “Oh, that’s excellent, I’ve always wanted to be able to do that”

Mum (with a weary look) confirmed that this exchange actually took place.

My Dad was 78 at the time.

He’s now 81, going strong and still can’t get the hang of unicycling.

My Osprey Talon 6 waist pack with external bottles has flatter profile bottles, 750ml IIRC, they might be OK if you can fine someone who sells them individually

I was on a train, across the aisle from me was a couple of young people, probably early 20s, one male (turns out he was called Jamie), one female.

Young Man “I don’t want to become a wage slave after Uni, I might just become a gigolo”
Young woman “Don’t be ridiculous Jamie, you’d starve, you’re crap at sex”

Businesswoman sitting opposite me stifles giggles….

Potcrete is the readymixed post cement to go in each of the post holes, dig the hole, insert post, tip in Postcrete, add a bucket of water, check for verticality/level, leave to set.
It looks as though they’ve allowed 2 bags per post based on those figures.

Maybe a little much but better to have a bit spare than run out

    EDIT too slow
