    Well that’s disappointing.
I was expecting a thread about your OH’s reaction when you suggested going to a fancy dress party as Harry Potter’s Grandfather.

I fitted 4 CrossClimates to my Skoda Superb (not a light car) in January 2016 and since then have covered approx. 22k miles.

They still had at least 4mm of tread on them when the car was MOT’d just before Christmas.

They’re quiet, grip very well (we had some snow on the moors in late Nov/Dec last year and they were excellent), and appear to be wearing pretty well too.

I’d not hesitate to replace them with another set of the same when the time comes.

Get an AGA*, they make the best toast.

*May be a bit over budget due to the need to refit the entire kitchen.

I think they get most of it from crustaceans but they’ll eat fish if the opportunity presents itself

Buying a people carrier just admits to everyone that you’ve given up and become de-sexualised (yes even in the eyes of your wife)!

Alternatively, nothing says “mine works fine thanks” like needing a vehicle with loads of seats

(I don’t drive a people carrier (even though everything is in perfect working order))

Who or what is a Honey G?

Don’t want to ask Google because it sounds more than somewhat dodgy; this is a shared family computer and I don’t want to risk anything unsavoury appearing in the search history….

    That’s great, thanks.
Pods look good on the website, just wasn’t sure what there was in the way of pubs and food other than that available on site.
    Cheers

Pocpoc, my local Sainsburys (also with an odd shaped carpark in a small market town) has the same arrangement, the extra width afforded by the wider lines makes things significantly easier when getting in and out of the car (particularly as we’re a rural area with a fair number of muddy farm 4×4 vehicles using the carparks).

I drive a standard car (albeit a fairly long one) and I find that leaving a liberal coating of mud over the outside of my vehicle tends to dissuade most people from trying to squeeze past on foot

See also – pre-order. Do you mean order? It doesn’t make any difference if the item has been made/published/written/built yet, the word is order.

Also, to anyone in financial services who insists on pretending that a service such as a bank account or investment is a product. It is a service; what you are offering to do is look after my money for me so it is a service.

Thanks folks, I’d better double check the oil spec for my engine…

Rockhopper, similar to my thought, the same applies to bottled water and table salt

It looks like one I bought last year, I think I paid a similar amount for it.

Works fine, feels nice in your hands, does what its supposed to.

Can’t go far wrong with it for that money

I’m not making any judgements about the rights and wrongs of the situation but I’d be inclined to report it to the customer services desk in the store, get them to put out an announcement over the PA.

If there’s an innocent/acceptable explanation, no harm done, if dogs are in distress/at risk, issue gets sorted.

I’ve always driven hatchbacks or estate but looked at a couple of saloons before buying my current car.

The volume of the boot was usually reasonable, the big issue for me was that the boot opening was generally too small to be practical for transporting things that aren’t packed into suitcases or bags.

Also, I found that it was often difficult to react to the front of the boot area, the bit directly behind the rear seats, without actually climbing into the boot (I’m 6’2″ so would think that shorter folks would have even more difficulty with this).

Some of them didn’t have folding rear seats so shifting long or bulky items would be an issue.

IMO they’re fine if you don’t need to transport very much or if you have access to a more practical vehicle for shifting awkward items (like bikes or garden waste).

    I’m sticking with hatch/estate cars.

I’ve got an HP one, works fine.

It can easily be made into a left handed one by putting in on the left side of the keyboard

(You can swop the buttons round to be left handed using the mouse settings in the control panel if you like.)

Pretty fair but with all these things I think it’s a case of ignoring the alleged RRP or previous price and deciding if its worth (to you) what the current price is.

I don’t think the Caliber jacket is worth to me the (I think) £40 original price but for £20 plus postage I think its good value.

Just took delivery of a Caliber II jacket in Skydiver Blue.

Decent quality, fits well, seems tough enough to deal with the odd branch/undergrowth interface. Well worth £23 delivered.

If you’re unsure about the wiring then the safest DIY way to deal with the issue would be to construct a small wooden box for the OH to use as a step. HTH

@franksinatra, the new (current) shape S-Max comes with a spare wheel.

I was looking at them over the weekend (the whole car, not just the spare wheels), it is sited in a cage under the boot floor.

I’d not buy a car without a spare wheel which was why I checked

Hmmm, will probably go with a middle round option then, brisk walk at lunchtime for a couple of miles should help and limit any potential damage.
Going a bit stir crazy with all this sitting about.

I’ve had success pop riveting a section of metal oil can or food tin over a hole in a silencer on a mates Land Rover.
Put a small bead of exhaust mastic round the hole, rivet metal patch over it, job jobbed.
It lasted around 8 months until it failed, got through an MOT though

I’ve got a Garmin Forerunner 10 in orange colour you can have for £30 posted, about as basic as you can get, very accurate and I believe it will upload to Strava (never tried it as I don’t have Strava).

Email in profile if interested, will be sticking it in classifieds over the weekend, so not really a stealth ad, honest

Unless, perhaps, a Vative is the name for that particular type of bread roll, in which case the burger and sausage combo is definitely in a vative.

When we first met I told the now Mrs Womat that my surname was Leuve-Geuse (prounounced Lovejuice) and that is was the result of a Granfather who came from Luxemburg.

She only found out when she saw my cashpoint card (it was the early 90s) about 3 week later.
