How does the PA ride compared to the Soul?
Anyone had both and can shed some light on it?

What about getting to Stanwell, parking there and cycling in round the airport avoiding most of the A30?
Another option from there is through Bedfont and Hounslow, avoiding the A30 altogether.
If you come in via the A4 rather than the M4, the traffic isn’t too bad on a morning from what I’ve seen.

I’m surprised that they didn’t know about the dogs TBH.

I’ve worked on quite a few armed raids with the Police as medical cover incase it all goes bent and in every briefing it’s mentioned about any dogs at the address so I’d expect the same for any raid.

Sadly the last one I was at, they failed to mention that the suspects neighbour had a particularly vicious looking dog which came out into the back garden for a look about at the wrong time. The firearms officers shot the dog without giving it a second thought!
    Poor dog 🙂

His colleagues should be ashamed of themselves, not one of them did anything to help the guy.

I hope they get the grief they deserve when they’re back on station.

Decide on some frames you want and call these guys to see if they can fit lenses for you.

    http://ciliaryblue.com/

They will be able to tell you over the phone if they’ve done that particular type of frame before and if you do use them for lenses, they’re very cheap!

I still reckon that thick-ass grabby rimtape that you had on in the pic will be the biggest problem with tight tyres. Some proper yellow tape will be thinner and give a smoother transition from the channel of the rim up to the shoulders.
Also, if you go then tubeless, putting on tyres with a tyre lever ceases to be a problem!

EDIT: and fit the tape properly– key the surface, degrease, and really damn tight! This may of course not fix the probs with these tyres, but at least the rims will be set up as they should be..

If you’re using the green Hope rimtape that you had fitted in the other thread, according to Hope themselves, it’s not suitable for running tubeless and you need to fit the yellow Stans tape. That’s what their technical bods told me anyhow!

As for fitting tyres, I’ve got two sets of Hope Hoops with Crest rims and they’re both running tubeless with Specialized tyres. The tyres virtually fell onto the rims and sealed straight away with no drama whatsoever.
I’ve also ran a set of Schwalbe Rocket Rons on them and had absolutely no issues with them either!

Most places beside the airport are pretyt crappy so best avoided.

It might be worth looking towards

    Walton
    Chertsey
    Epsom
    Dorking
    Reigate
    Windsor

Out of interest, which airline will you be flying for?

When I was looking into getting one I was told by a couple of owners to not expect anything over 30mpg and that’s taking it extremely easily.
Normal use I was told 20-25mpg!

Needless to say, I never got one.

    What about road ambulances?

I was told that we reclaim VAT on fuel. I’m not 100% certain though.

It’s handy having a decent postie.

Ours puts oversize things through the front window then pushes it shut again. Saves us loads of time running back and forth to the sorting office to collect stuff.
You can tell when the regular postie is off as we seem to be down the sorting office every other day collecting parcels!

Cinnamon_girl, check out this video and see if that’s what’s causing your boiler to play up. It’s happened to a couple of friends of mine in the cold weather.

I’m thinking of doing the same with my HT Pro.

If its a bit of a shed but got MOT, it might be worth getting a price from webuyanycar.com

I’ve got a couple of mates who’ve sold sheds on to them and got decent money considering the state of them!

Everybody’s going to overlook that the wife has a serious illness then?

I’m sure she does. Most probably plays up to it to make sure she’s kept signed off on the sick. There’s plenty of people with bipolar and anxiety realated illnesses who still manage to work and hold down jobs.

It’s people like the ones in the article that screw the system and cause problems for the genuinely needy. This couple are spending £100+ a week on luxuries that plenty of working families can’t afford. We shouldn’t be paying for it.

I regularly deal with patients at work who are life long benefits claimants. They feel that they’re entitled to it and for some unknown reason, deserve the money. It’s not out of the ordinary for these people to have the big screen tv along with Sky HD, PS3’s, Xboxes and all the other things that the rest of us have to work hard and save for. It’s disgusting.

The more I see of it, the more I thnk that food vouchers rather than cash should be given to benefit claimants.

I have the exact same problem. Might try and squeeze the outer poppy bit with some pliers or something, see if that helps with the poppyness.

I’ve done that with a couple of pairs of my Endura shorts and it’s fixed them a treat 🙂

    Go and see your doctor.

Failing that, go to a pharmacy and buy yourself a blood sugar testing kit, they’re about £10 or so and will come with instructions on how to use it.

It’s got the potential to be an interesting season but whether or not it is remains to be seen.

Hopefully Rossi will be back up there at the sharp end but in all honestly I can’t see him challenging for the title. He’ll no doubt get a few podiums but that’ll be about it.

I reckon it’s got to be Stoner for the title again this season as Lorenzo just doesn’t seem to be at quite the same level. Hopefully him and Spies can put up some kind of challenge to Stoner’s dominance as it’ll make for a pretty uninteresting season otherwise.

oh and number plates form no part of an MOT test

    Are you sure about that????

Missing or incorrect number plates are an MOT failure.

The panic/concern of the people in charge over terrorist threats is incredible!

I honestly expect that it’s all been blown out of proportion yet again and that nothing of any interest will happen.

We get single time for our 12 hour shift and 7.5 hours back as time in lieu so it’s not even double time here 🙁

For me this year that also goes for Christmas Day and New Years Day. All Bank Holidays are paid the same.

    wisepranker

Wisepranker – are you not on agenda for change rates? The day in lieu is one of your PH / Al days – the 7.5 hrs is the equivalent of the 60% but I am suprised you are taking it in time not pay. Never heard of that.

    Yes, we’re on AFC.
We get 7.5 hours as time in lieu for any PH’s but no extra money.
We definitely don’t get a day in lieu plus 7.5 hours. At least we never have as long as i’ve been working here.

Guess what – they get time and 60% plus a day in lieu.

No they don’t at least I can guarantee you that Ambulance service staff don’t get time plus 60% and a day in lieu. We get 7.5 hours time in lieu back for working Christmas Day or Boxing Day despite working a 12 hour shift.
This has been the same for at least the past 5 or 6 years.

I’d be inclined to avoid Goldhawk Road/Shepherds Bush, Notting Hill Gate and instead look at going through Hammersmith, along Hammersmith Road then up through Hyde Park and through the back of Mayfair/Marylebone.

I certainly wouldn’t like to be cycling down the Euston Road as that route shows!

I’m not sure about your example but some places limit the number of people allowed on a picket line.

Last year when BA cabin crew were striking, they were only allowed 6 people on a picket line so they had 3 or 4 pretty pathetic looking picket lines in different areas of Heathrow!

All this stuff about ‘ragging’ cars from cold is crap IMHO.

Our ambulances and response cars are regularly started from stone cold and thrashed mercilessly. It’s pretty normal to have some of the ambulances with 200,000+ on the clock and still running on the original engine/turbo/auto gearbox. The cars have lower mileage but are mostly 80,000+ and the vast majority on original engines etc.
They don’t get serviced and more or any better than any other car or van and not a single one of them has been ‘ran in’.

As for buying ex-demo stuff, I bought my GSX-R as an ex-demo and it might as well have been a brand new bike. Saved a good amount on the retail price to boot 😆

He needs to lay off the bike for a while.

It’s all well and good riding around with his “I’m better than everyone else” attitude and shouting at drivers but in a few of the incidents, he could’ve avoided the situation and saved himself some aggro.
There’s no point in being right but dead.
