grantway – I have used the shield anchors as suggested.

I have got them in the wall and have tightened them up.

How tight do you secure them? They seem to just continue on expanding as they crack the block work. Do you just nip them up?

You can also use Mapsource.

Download

If you unzip the package with winzip or similar then run the exe file directly it installs fine.

The maps are not but you can create and transfer GPX routes very easily.

I have an Etrex 20 and use this MAC

The current 1.9 version doesn’t work with OS maps but if you Google for ver 1.8 it does allow OS maps to be transferred.

There is a good Wiki as well that gives a lot of info MAC Wiki

Wiggins would be the greater achievement.

The UK does not have a great history of success in road cycling.

By comparison Lawn Tennis was invented in the UK.

Also, the TDF must be the physically hardest major sporting event in the World.

oil of naturally high viscosity index

I took that to mean that it flows easier? Or is it saying it is a thick oil?
According to the data sheet it seems to have low values?

ATO tech info

Any engineers who understand these numbers? How do they compare with typical chain lube?

I bought a s/h Rega Apollo last year. I was very pleased with it.

I then got a Cambridge Audio Dacmagic for the USB input and I found that using my blu-ray player as the transport, the sound was indistinguishable from the Rega.

Seems they have the same Wolfson DAC chipset.

I was very happy with the £150 DAC.

I agree with molgrips.

Insulin is critical in producing fat.

All carbohydrate produces an insulin response and turns into glucose in the bloodstream.

White rice and jacket potatoes have a more severe insulin response than table sugar.

If you are, like many people and have high “insulin resistance” foods high in carbs can lead to excessive fat production.

“than those who do not participate in such diets, research published on bmj.com suggested”

well it is a resounding, clear cut, scientific link between low carb and cardiovascular disease.

I had the same problem.

Take the clamp apart, clean off with WD40 or similar.

Put back together and put a little lube on the bush. It should be possible to clamp it up tight enough to hold your post.

Tidal barrage appears to be a much better solution.

The problem with the turbines is that they need to be in high current areas to produce enough power, then the installation and maintenance becomes extremely difficult.

Even the most powerful construction vessels struggle in a 6 kt current.

I’ve shipped several bikes with senditnow.

They have a number of measurements you take to see if its too big.

Mine were all slightly oversize but I didn’t tell them and the courier collected them no problem at all.

Thanks for the kind offers gents.

I built an Inbred 456 up a couple of years ago and it went okay, donor parts from an older bike rather than brand new.

I got the frame supplied with a new headset put in.

It was more to do with this being a £2000 – £2500 bike and not wanting to **** it up!

Getting the cable runs right, always seems a bit tricky!

It works fine on the bike but is a little bigger than the Edge type units.

If you get the next model up, the Etrex 30, you can add heart rate and cadence sensors.

I’m confident they’ll bugger things up somehow.

Not as much as your useless bag of ex-manc s!it.

The wheels have come right off the O’Neil band wagon.

You need to throw a lot of money at that squad to sort it out.

If you are looking for alternatives to a rack and panneirs, don’t forget the Great British Tradition of Carradice.

SQR Tour

Their seat packs have 16 litre capacity, enough for credit card touring, add a 5 – 10 litre bar bag and your covered for any lt weight requirements.

Not sure if they will fit in a tight cycling shoe though.

I have dislocated my shoulder a number of times in the past, luckily it has been “fixed” now and I haven’t done it in a while.

I do not know that any over the counter painkillers wouldn’t touch the pain when it is out and in spasm. You would definitely need some “controlled” stuff to be worthwhile.

Thanks for the info guys.

TJ – Not sure if I see the point of the painkillers and immodium? If its that serious that I need pain relief then I would go to A&E and wouldn’t take anything before I got there? And immodium????

Have you considered the latest Etrex’s? A bit bigger than an Edge but a lot of extra functionality.

Etrex 20

Excellent site with info GPS and cycling here Audax GPS

I have a Garmin Etrex 20 with a ram mount.

Colour maps and you can use Mobile Atlas Creator to create custom maps from Open Street Maps, Google etc. All legit.

If you can get an older version of the Mobile Atlas software you can access OS maps as well, although probably copyright issues…..

Thats exactly what I thought. If they are anyway as near as good as the thicker ones then should be worth it.

I am going to try them in my Diadora road shoes, if they will fit. If not I will use for my work shoes!

+1 for the Carradice SQR tour.

They can carry 10kg and have a volume of 17 litres.

I put one on my road bike last year for B&B touring, carried everything I needed. Very stable and the load is a sensible place.

I did have to switch my carbon seatpost for an alloy one mind.

I had trouble with my walking boots for years, then I got a pair of these and I found them excellent. You can get them for between £30 and £40 Sole Softec Ultra They are way too thick for cycling shoes.

Found these on ebay, haven’t been delivered yet but I’m hoping they will be suitable for cycling shoes, they are a lot thinner. They are pretty cheap as well. Sole footbeds

Sole also do an even thinner version as well.

Edukator – In the first a week or 2 of a low carb diet it is easy to lose 2kg a week. This is due to a loss of water. Carbohydrate makes you retain unnecessary water and when you switch your body drops it.
Also as your metabolism changes you need water to breakdown the fat and protein that you are now using for fuel. You need to drink plenty of water but you don’t hold it in your body the same way.

I lost 2kg a week for the first 4 weeks. I measured this and due to work I was not getting a load of exercise. Never felt hungry and ate as much meat, fish and veg as I wanted.

Low carb works, I feel fitter, by old injuries don’t ache and I have stopped snoring. Carbs lead to inflammation, causing aches and causing some people to snore.

I don’t know the details of the iDave diet but I totally agree with the principles behind a low carb diet.
