I bought a set of hope hoops a few weeks back which arrived next day and they were the cheapest in the uk by some margin. I’d buy from them again

OP if rangers path looks a bit technical, give the llanberis descent you’ve climbed a go down. I’ve done both a few times and find the extra speed and flow much more fun. If I’m honest, the llanberis descent is probably my favourite ride in the uk. I cant wait to go again in a couple of weeks:)

5 weeks unable to ride my bike doesn’t sound good. There is no evidence of a leak from a piston, looks to me like there is oil around the hose. Surely an easy fix. Gonna drop it in at my local shimano service centre next time I’m passing and see what they say

Any updates on this. Noticed my pads had a fair bit of oil on them today. Feel is still the same now pads are replaced but worried I have this fault?!

How do you go about warranty claims for shimano? Purchased from rose bikes

Add front and rear to basket separately

    You want standard lacing

Fronts come with 9mm and 20mm adapters so you’ll be fine. 9mm is the standard quick release skewers you most often see. 20mm and 15mm have axles that slide through if that makes sense.

135mm is standard rear which you’ll need.

You can indeed run tubes. To go tubeless you need valves, yellow rim tape and stans sealant. In theory works better with tubeless ready tyres (don’t bother with ust) but many people have great results with none tubeless tyres. Think there is a list of tyres on stans website. I’m running nobby nics and racing Ralph’s which are 500g, tubeless ready and so far, perfect at even 20psi:)

It all depends on how many people get their forks serviced, the general masses as we all know don’t bother. Suppose loco can confirm the share of fox and rock shox he services and how many have sanction wear. From what I’ve seen, all forks will suffer with neglect, I’ve seen many stories of fox forks failing within a few months of use which is why they have such a bad reputation for it.

Also worth bearing in mind that although twice as many bikes came with fox forks in 2010, very few bikers replace their forks with fox, rockshox is pretty much always the way to go for great forks at great value!

I bought hope hoops pro 2 evos on stans flows for £263 from winstanleycycles a few weeks back. Stunning wheels, lighter than my previous pro 2 mavic 717 build (don’t know how) running tubeless with new tyres has saved 400g over old setup and the bike feels amazing with no burping at all so far and running lower pressures makes the bike feel so much smoother. The super wide rim has also sorted the tyre profile for the better and eliminated that feeling of the tyre rolling off the rim at low pressures

point was flows arnt tubeless and they do go down over a couple of days no matter how they are sealed

Doesn’t ztr (zero tube rim) ruin that theory? Doing my research most run tubeless with no issues. No probs for me, maybe you need to watch stan doing the shaky shaky sealing thing again.

Another bonus over smart phones is the battery lasts a good 15hrs in use, using apps and gps on phones really kills them. Did the lady bower loop on my iPhone last summer and the battery was down to 2% by the time we finished

Ive just switched from mavics to flows and I’m loving the change. The extra width gives the tyre a much fatter profile. It also makes the tyre feel much more secure at low pressures as with the mavics i could feel the tyre was trying to roll off the rim. I’m running the flows tubeless with 2012 tubeless ready (not ust) 2.25 nobby nic and racing ralph and after 4 rides I’m really impressed. No burping so far which has been my biggest concern. Started off at high pressures but to sort out ride I’ve settled with 30psi rear tyre and 23psi in the front. Seems stunning so far, especially no risk of pinch flats which used to ruin my rides and the extra control from lower pressures has transformed my bike at lower speeds gliding over small bumps like they aren’t there

The specs on that wicked are unreal for the money. Rock shox revs rlt dual positions are £800 forks!

I’m running u turn revs teams 120-150. It feels best at 150mm which is what i run it at most of the time. I’ll drop to 120 for climbs and sometimes run at 130ish on the flats. Feels so much fun at 150 and is so capable.

I hate to say this but having tried a vast array of lubes, halfords own brand dry lube is my favourite

Well looks like the above link was the problem. Basically under the u turn knob there are 5 springs and 5 ball bearings. When i took it apart only 3 ball bearings were on the springs, the other 2 had fallen into other holes. This seems to have fixed the problem so for anyone who comes across this issue, check this out.
There is very little info out there.

I have to say I’m very disappointed with the people who serviced it, they have a great rep on here and it’s unacceptable to send serviced forks back with faults. More of an issue is no replies to my emails, 1 reference this and 2 others about delivery questions which were also ignored.

Rant over, back to the trails

I’ve sent them an email so awaiting a response. Just wondered how serious it is or what might cause it? Looks like another 5-10 days without the bike :(

I bought 3 and needed them doing snowdon last year. They were awful, first one I put in was flat again within 6 seconds, no joke, the impact of one rock pinched it. Popped another in and the same happened after 30 more seconds. Didnt risk another so used a mates specialized Tube which got me to the bottom. The final one was quickly placed in the bin!

As with davesports reply, when I first had mine I set the clamp similar to my standard post and it reduced its movement. Loosened off and was fine

I’ve been really impressed with Netflix. I’m loving all the tv shows it has, every prison break, 24, skins as examples. Hd quality with no buffering problems on my ps3 on a pretty rubbish broadband connection.

Had love film for a while, poof selection and awful quality on large screen tv’s, rarely used it. Got through 22 episodes of prison break this week. Also love the way if you start watching something on one device and quit, it continues from where you left off whether it’s your iPhone, iPad, laptop when you log in:)

Thanks for the response, I’ve sent an email to tf tuned to get an idea of cost :?

Any other places worth sending the forks or are TF Tuned about the best for rockshox?

Would a service from tftuned fix this as I was thinking of getting them serviced pretty soonish anyway?

I’m running 120-150 revs team u turns on mine. Transformed the bike imo. Use 120mm for climbs, 140mm for the flats and 147mm for the downs (get slight suck from running 5psi more in the negative chamber) . Dropped some spacers out the headset to lower the bars and run 745mm bars with a 70mm stem.

Also remember the trance x actually has 127mm travel.

Brilliant bike but if I’m honest i run it at max travel most the time and it feels superb so often leave it there even on climbs.

Measured headtube angle the other day. 69.5 deg at 120mm and 67.2 at max travel which makes it much more playful on the downs

Are you just doing a lowers service and referring to the oil in the lower legs?

Edit. re read properly :D 123ml in top section and 5ml in each of the lowers is the correct amount of oil so don’t know whats going wrong?

Don’t know about the old revs but 5ml is correct for 2009 onwards versions

Marin trail is the worst dedicated trail I’ve ridden. Doesn’t compare to brenin. Penmachno on the other hand is superb and only a few miles from the marin and bets y coed so I’d definitely give that a go!

Creaser – massive respect. Cannot believe how fast you hit every bit of that descent!!

Switching to black box revelations I found the biggest change was incredible small bump sensitivity. Maybe yours had s problem but running the neg chamber slightly higher pressure is a tip I’ve often seen from users.

I went yesterday for the second time. Went as the ban ended in the summer and had a rare clear sunny day. Did the same route you are planning and while the climb was pretty straight forward I did find the descent pretty hard work. Didn’t flow enough for my liking and the constant techy drop offs took their toll. Wrists, hands and feet did ache lol.

Did llanberis up and down yesterday and the descent was right up my street. Exhausting but I loved every bit of it. Wouldn’t fancy rangers descent unless the rocks were nice and dry.

For reference it was dry at the bottom and 10deg c and drenching wet in the fog and 2 deg with a nasty wind chill at the top so make sure you are well prepared. I’d recommend a spare set of gloves for the descent as my water proofs were wet through by the top and if I hadn’t had a spare set it would have been a painfully cold descent.

Also take a few inner tubes, pinch flats have been unavoidable for me

I use windcutters with xt 785’s and they have been superb. Light weight, loads of power and always stay straight and true.

Ended the year nicely with a ride up snowdon this morning. A week of bad food has certainly taken its toll but was a brilliant descent. Can’t wait to go back again:)

I had a few issues with sticking and it was caused by me tightening the clamp too tight. Try loosening it and trying it

I’ve had one a couple of months and nothing transforms the ride like this does. It may seem expensive prior to purchase but once you’ve lived with it a while it’s easily worth the money. 2 of my biking mates bought one this week after going on a couple of rides with me as they were so impressed
