Replaced a carbon 160 enduro bike with one of these and is an absolute riot. Xt11, pikes, internal cable routing, long and slack, tubeless. Love it!!

I’ve never really read a lot about Stanton frames. Thank you to this thread for highlighting them to me, what a beautiful product. The price increase is a consequence of Brexit and that’s it. Go to currys or any other retailer and you’ll see they’ve been pushing up prices by over 15% for the past 6 months. Price freezes at 2016 prices on tech that has always got cheaper each year. 2017 TVs, sonos, apple, all Rrp 20% higher than 2016. It’s **** but more people voted out than in so unfortunately this is how it is now :(

Wife’s car. 60 in 5.3 secs and limited to 155mph. After driving around in a 150bhp Tiguan diesel, her quattro, s tronic, light aluminium build car certainly wakes me up. Not sure any more performance is needed on uk roads

Lucky enough to have a zwift room. Bike on the left, treadmill on the right hand side so can get running miles in too.

MacBook in the wardrobe hooked up to the tv with an ant+ stick that talks to the smart turbo, Garmin cadence sensor, hrm and the garmin foot pod when running.

We’re lucky to live in a time where this tech is so accessible. Even 3 years ago I wouldn’t have dreamt of what we’d be doing with zwift and smart turbos

2 of us, 4 bed house, daily dishwasher, baths and shower daily, wash the cars rather a lot and I pay £19 a month. Down from £75 a month the water rates were before I switched to a meter

I’ve just had the same predicament. Ended up going for the toro as every review said it was awesome whether used for road or off road. I’d read a few strada reviews that said it wasn’t that bright. Toro also has a bigger battery so if you run it in equivalent 1200 lumen mode it should last longer

They are matching Evans prices at tredz plus a £20 off code over £150 until Friday so just paid £175 for the £299 Rrp toro

Link to the strada at tredz..

    Code is SAVE20 btw

Purchased an arlo in mid November and it’s a superb bit of kit. Alerts me whenever anyone steps on to the drive. Quality is good and ability to access from anywhere is very handy. Mine is positioned above the garage to cover the drive. Takes some time to set up the sensitivity. At first every car that passed the road set it off but knocked down to 70% sensitivity it rarely goes off incorrectly. Quite impressed with battery. I purchased a load of Panasonic batteries from amazon at the same time but almost 10 weeks in original batteries are still at 79% so looks like it will last well over 6 months with my setup

I’ve tried loads of coffee machines over the years and they generally all end up gathering dust after the newness has worn off.

15 months later mine is still used most days of the week. I love a shot of espresso and a latte which it does a brilliant job of.

Friend of mine had a carbon road bike crack after only a few rides. This was at the end of June, after a lot of slow communication he received his replacement a Month ago. I would now never consider buying a bike from them

Blown away by the people on here however, post after post of people wanting to help out. Great forum and community of people on here

I have the 2240 and it’s brilliant. However for it to work with zwift I had to run an update on the turbo first through the tacx phone of tablet app. Probably fix your problem as I read about it before I purchased it so was the first thing I did

For balance I used to ride a cube and I was a 56 and I’m 5ft 10 and fitted me fine without any change of stem etc. Mate of mine rides a 58 and is 6ft 2 so you do seem in between sizes. I’ve always been told if in between always go smaller so 56 sounds like a good choice

Installed an arlo system the weekend. Really impressed so far. Excellent quality and sends me a notification every time the system is activated.

I’ve been using it for the past 2 weeks and I think it’s an incredible training tool. I spent most of last winter on a normal turbo using YouTube GCN training videos to keep me going. Did a good job and really Helped me kickstart my fitness this year

A couple of weeks ago I stumbled across a thread about zwift and it sounded like a much more interesting way to spend the winter training. Bought a smart turbo, hooked my MacBook up to the 32″ tv in my turbo room and been having an absolute blast ever since. It hooks up to my ant+ heart rate monitor, cadence sensor and uploads to Strava when finished. It’s interesting analysing the data as my heart rate average, max, cadence and average speeds pretty much match my proper road rides perfectly so getting a great work out.

For reference it runs on my early 2015 MacBook pro in 1080 with no frame rate issues so doesn’t need to be too cutting edge

Products looks awesome. Nice to have a new colour choice. I was ready to make an order but those prices are crazy.

    Air 13″ £100 price increase
    Basic retina gone up £250
Pro without new bar £250 increase
Pro with bar, almost a £400 increase.
Top end 15″ has gone from £2500 to £4049.

I’m out, they’ve gone crazy. All the pricing predictions were that they’d keep a £999 retina, a £1199 model, maybe £1349 for the bar 13″. I’ll keep my early 2015 retina then, it might go up in value once the new ones launch

Winrya, where from if you don’t mind me asking. Would love to get my hands on two defy advanced pro 1 in medium. Not a fan of next year’s colour really.

Giant sheffield and it was a medium but was the last one. He also had a TCR Advanced SL 2 – £3499 Down to £2099.

    http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-gb/bikes/model/tcr.advanced.sl.2/19193/77276/ in medium.

    Bristol had;

    Left in store we have
A TCR advanced SL 2 in small
A propel advanced pro 2 in a medium
A propel advanced SL 1 in a medium large
And a propel advanced 2 in a extra large

Well worth a call if you’re after a deal, saved £1050 on mine.

Can’t believe how much of a step up it is over the boardman carbon it has replaced

100% go for the giant but try for a 2016 model as its a much improved frame over 2015. I almost purchased one but went for a defy advanced in the end.

However I found the best deals were at http://www.swinnertoncycles.co.uk/bikes-c97/road-c110/tcr-advanced-2-carbon-road-bike-p53926 who were doing 12% off most of the giant range.

I ended up emailing a load of giant stores and getting 40% off a 2015 defy advanced pro 1. So definitely some deals out there

    Dr p,

I’m about to order one of these myself. My only question is mounting the curtain box above. How is it fixed in place?

    Cheers,

Or for something inbetween, Hope Enduro wheelset Bit wider and sturdier than Arch bit not as heavy and robust as Flows I believe.

Enduros are heavier than flows although they are marginally tougher

I have a 1,3 and 5 and the 1 is certainly the best value for money. If buying again I’d not bother with the 3. The 1 sounds pretty much as good so the 3 doesn’t justify the extra cost. The 5 is noticeably better. Playbar and sub are the next level

Maybe I’ve been lucky but since going diesel (170 common rail vag units in both cars) we currently do twice as many miles to the same amount of fuel as our previous petrol cars did whilst the performance in most circumstances is better.

Some very bold claims from the very latest petrol cars but they feel so slow at low revs you have to push them to get anywhere and then the mpg drops off the table.

My neighbour recently had one of those 1 litre 3 cyclinder turbo fiestas which have won many awards. Driven at all spiritedly it would drop below 30mpg on a combined route. The forums are full of many unhappy owners who purchased for the potential fuel savings.

2 of the wifes previous minis had heated windscreens. a 2007 and then a 2012, brilliant option.

These days i fill a watering can with luke warm water, wonder around the cars and get in and drive off. Loads quicker than deicer, also means the wiper blades work properly as it softens them and for some reason the inside of the car doesn’t steam up.

I know with my 2014 stereo there is a different mech hanger for sram and shimano. Don’t happen to have the wrong hanger? Mine is a sram xo mech and the shimano xt mech hanger sits much further back and looks totally different

I had a Ps4 from launch and purchased an Xbox one for forza horizon 2 around October time. The ps4 never gets used and after believing and saying it’s all about the ps4, I now love the Xbox and never use the ps4.

Mostly it’s becuase of better games, forza horizon 2 is very special, the halo collection is brilliant and I got gta 5 because all my mates moved to xbones so play online with them.

The ps4 makes a hell of a lot of noise and the Xbox is silent.

The ps4 controller needs charging all the time, batteries although a consumable last a good 25hrs in the Xbox.

Xbox streams every file type from my wd network hard drive, the ps4 cannot (ps3 could)

I really want to get rid of the PS4 but uncharted is one of my favourite games on the PS3 and it does looks special on the ps4

2011 a3 sportback 170tdi does around 50mpg overall and up to 60mpg if sticking to 70 mph.

    Bikes go in the back.

Had a golf Gti before, 2litre petrol turbo which did 300 miles a tank, the a3 does between 500-600 so halved my fuel bills and with the extra torque feels just as quick (quicker under normal driving conditions)

I had the same on my roadie. Tilting the saddle slightly forward helped and then I dropped the saddle a tiny bit and have been relatively fine since.

Pump, tubeless repair kit, multitool is all I need in my camelback

If it’s a long ride I’ll chuck some fig rolls in for emergency energy

Weight comes from the water I carry which isn’t a lot this time of year.

    I hate the extra faff.

I want to finish on the trail and get straight into a hot shower and then sit down in a warm house with a nice cuppa. Miss out the freezing cold, trying to get changed outside, packing away all the muddy items, driving home, cleaning bike, separating all the muddy items,, bringing Mud into the house and annoying the wife in the process

But it doesn’t stop me, reminds me I should make more of the warm dry days though

I’m running 32 nw with a 11-40 on the back and I find its a great setup. Gives enough speed on the downs and can cope with the steep climbs no problem. I ran a 34 up front in the summer and it was definitely tougher on the climbs and saw no noticeable benefit on the downs so the 32 will stay coming out of the winter.

I did initially find the jump between the cog your remove a jump too far but having put a 16t cog from rose bikes in place I can no longer feel a jump.

No shifting issues prior to the 16t cog or now though, gear change snappy and unaffected. I did also need a longer chain though
