I’m not a footie fan at all but remember him well. Something very special about him. Style on and off the field – Total football and a Citroen SM.

And as I’m in my 60s he was no age at all!!!!!!!

Had one for about 3 months now and love it. Got a 5 door 07 with 38k on the clock. Heavy on the right foot means the juice disappears rapidly but completely outweighed by the enjoyment factor. Keeping an eye on the oil as it seems to use a little bit. Nothing excessive but commensurate with driving style. No signs of any bodywork or suspension issues but low miles for year and only one owner might be the reason for that. Completely manual so no DSG issues. Go for it if the price and history are right.

Just watched it and was shocked at the state they were in. Last GS I knew well was owned by a bloke in North Wales Mountain Search & Rescue. It was a monster that was wonderful to behold. Stood on its hind legs and paws on your shoulders before licking you to death. Cant imagine those KC specimens climbing into anything.

Suit without a tie IS a formal look. Long sleeve shirt whatever matched with whatever. (even long shorts but go easy on the mankini)

On your own or are you bringing a family with you? Education is very very variable! Big road and MTB scene in MK and Woburn. If you can stand a 10 mile commute then some great options open up.

I think central Amsterdam would be as described, full of pished visitors. However we do it with family in one of the towns just east of the city and I have to say its the best possible way to celebrate. The Dutch do attack the sky on new year’s eve and its a matter of pride between village about how much ordinance they can set off. You’ll be invited in by all and sundry and have a great time. I love the Netherlands.

If you ask on the Amsterdam triathlon and cycling (ATAC) Facebook page they will point you in the right direction. Most of them come from Middlesbrough or Oz. Was quite a surprise when in rocked up for a ride when on a trip in the summer. Not the accents I was expecting! Nice group of people.

The point Mrs wingnuts was making about black characters is that they are very rare and don’t get meaty parts. She is an educated black professional and yet she shouts at the fictional story of country folk! I just get fed up that she has to have it on iplayer when she misses it at 6.00 in the morning! Rob is a wonderfully dark person and I love to wind her up about his next evil plan. Have to say I missed the Scruff in the silage being down to him angle.

Even more respect than before. I earn enough, it was just a way for the bookies to get people to part with their cash, but best of all, some gadgie from the BBC! Feet on the ground and happy with himself is the sign of a great bloke. Time for a cuppa!

At the Ghent 6 last week watched the mechanics take it off carbon rims. Stanley knife and elbow grease. No chemicals. Back in the day when I had aluminium rims it was white spirit, rag and then a wire brush to key the clean surface.

I’m not a footballist and agree it will be as boring as… but play it or we are giving into intimidation and unnecessary scaremongering. Sympathy to all the victims of atrocity everywhere, but we have to get on with live so we have something positive to celebrate and look forward to.

Having had several unsatisfactory types I’ve finally got one that works. Camelbak Forge. Not cheap about £20-25 but it really does keep stuff hot and it has a snap shut mechanism that only opens if you hold it open. Great in the car if it gets knocked over/you drop it answering phone/changing sounds/gwaping out of window at passing scenery etc.

I’ve just got a carbon Focus Cayo with Ultegra and discs. Wonderful handling bike with plenty of clearance. I’m ridding 28mm Vittoria Evo Pave tyres which are expensive but worth every penny. No mudguard or rack mounts but sure something can be bodged for winter. Rides fast, looks cool, and you’ve got a bike to ride Paris Roubaix on. If you want to give your mates a seeing to on their Defys (and thats what I thought I’d be getting originally) then this is the bike to do it on. One of my other bikes is aGiant Propel and the Focus feels just as good to ride.

Personal recommendation. They treat you very differently. When I started I was advised to go and see one a friend had used. I was nervous having been on PAYE all my life (and failing O level maths.. yes that long ago)

I walked into a dingy room with no computer and a small wizened old man peering over the top of huge piles of paper. Something out of a Dickensen novel.

He turned out to be fantastic. Didn’t mention a single percentage or figure. He told me how to behave and systems to adopt to stop me getting into trouble. Wonderful. He does actually have 4 people working for him who do “computers” but the behaviour thing was what has been the best advice since I started working and now employing people.

Don’t go to someone with big swanky offices, they are just looking for income, not relationship that will support and advise you.

Not been down for a while but always liked the Royal at Horsebridge and The Rising Sun at Gunnislake. I’m down for a couple of days this week so may have to reacquaint myself with them. Purely in the spirit of research you know.

Another vote for Vittoria pave evo. Great tyre and I think better than the equivalent Contis. I’m a heavy boy at 95 kg and go for the biggest section I can. Can be frame dependent but currently 28s.
Advice about attacking the cobbles is spot on.

I was in just the same position about 18months ago. I spent more so I’m not in bangernomics country but as the Octavia estate had given up the ghost I bought a 159 2.4 JTDM saloon to tide me over while I got another estate. I’ve added over 50k miles and had a new clutch but nothing has ever caught me unawares or given me reason to regret hanging on to it. Actively looking for a similar sportswagon.

Mate round the corner had a great one the same as yours and its what I was looking for but at the time there wasn’t anything about. Enjoy.

Fabulous. And being able to walk there…I love living in MK.

Isn’t it great! Gives the city a great buzz. Great crowds and atmosphere. Met people I’d raced against 30 years ago, chatted with people who had come from the States and even Mrs Wingnuts enjoyed it.

The racing was great and the way even the back markers continued to ride hard was impressive.

I live in Stony Stratford as well. Great place to live with plenty of music (of varying quality) pubs and food places. Me and Mrs W love it.

Plenty of road groups go out of here. On a Saturday morning between 50 and 70 riders of all abilities meet and go to a range of cafes in the surrounding areas. 23c is a top end roadie shop and cafe.

Woburn is 20 minutes or so away and provides adequate offroad entertainment. Lots of routes that connect to other areas. Several clubs do night rides as well as daytime.

It’s wonderful work sir. I’m fighting a battle with the wife. She (unreasonably) wants me to finish the house before we start on another project.

My bet on the holiday pics is somewhere between Grenoble and Chambray.
