If you’re coming in from the north then the Stony option is good. There’s a lot of free parking and you can link into the parks and redways as well as safer roads to CMK. Signs can be problematic so its best to learn the grid (estate) names to give you points of reference. So something like Stony >Kiln Farm>Two mile Ash>Great Holm> Loughton> Train Station>CMK is the obvious one on or of road but there are loads of alternatives.
There used to be a redway map as well. Some of the bike shops, Chaineys, Corleys, Pinks or the library might still have them.

I know several people who do it from stony stratford. That would be a good one if you were coming south on the a5.

I’m even older than you oldgit, so I’ve gone from triple to a compact with 48 and 34. the basis of this decision is my arthritic left hand doesn’t have ego move the lever so far. And with a MTB cassette it give the same range of gears.

Anything to keep riding counts…. well perhaps not the South Bucks CTC.

I prefer the remake. Bridges is much better as the flawed Rooster and the girl has much more depth of character. And I’m not one for new versions.

I thought about it and it does work for some people for some of the time. My optician told me that peoples sight changes in phases. Once you have whichever procedure you choose there is nothing to say that as you go through another physical change or age range your eyes won’t change and need correction again. The two friends that have had it done got about 4 to 6 years before they had to go back to wearing glasses pretty well full time. They did have good surgery experiences and were in their early/mid forties. It was the limited life span of their operations that put me off doing it.

The display doesn’t seem to indicate anything whether its connected or not. the window is called builtin display and doesn’t offer mirroring.

Have you been to see somebody not connected with STW yet?

Had this a couple of years ago and it wasn’t anything to worry about. Can’t remember the name unfortunately. I was aboard and it happened on a Sunday night. I phoned my optician Monday morning when I was home as it was scary. He was also alarmed and sent me to the eye consultant immediately. They didn’t bother with A&E it was to the top man straight away. It can be v serious or nothing but the professionals are really onto it, so you should be as well.

That Pacer poster is up there with the tennis player in my book. How did it escape my youth?

Anyway how about a Citroen Ami from the seventies? Wish I could post pictures.

And just a thought – Dwars van Vlaanderen on 26th March, E£ Harelbeke on the 28th with Gent Wevelgem on the 30th. Results are always interesting and give good guide to form for latter races.

YES!!! Not sure its going to involve a cyclo cross if you want Paris Roubaix.

I’d go for the Ronde on 6th April and then Roubaix the following weekend or Flèche Wallonne on the 23rd April and then Liege Bastogne Liege on 27th.

Depends on whether you want cobbles or hills. My preference is Flanders and Roubaix. You can see the hurt better and the beer/frites flow in an unrestrained way when you find the appropriate bar with the tele on on the course.

We stay with friends/family so not sure about the touring bit, but its a week when feelings generally run high so I think it would be worth it.

I just misread your post Gobalti. But I have come across (speaking metaphorically) some people who have worn shreddies under their shorts! And couldn’t be talked out of it! I didn’t try to hard to be honest. They deserved the pain.

Gobalti……. are your shreddies on at all? Skin – cream – shorts (or proper liner) No pants involved or you really are asking for trouble.

Bloody raining! Got to drive 90 miles for what I know will be an inconclusive 30 minute meeting. Mrs W will expect me to cook tonight …. Got the mood of the day of to the correct start I think.

Not a fan of leather saddles myself. There is a certain allure to large copper rivits glistening in the sun when your bike is leaning against a dry stone wall……. But the time spend forming it to your will and feudal practices with meats foot oil compounded by said rivits catching on your shorts, followed by the rain ruining the shape don’t compensate. And the weight even with TI rails! Never understood why people have them on mountain bikes.

Aside from the cleanliness issues also consider the fit of your shorts and position on the bike. If you aren’t in a good position you might be increasing pressure on certain areas and/or the cut of the shorts might combine to produce more friction.

I’ve had them for about 10 years and get on well. The fit has been no problem at any stage and I’ve had several makes. (just what the opticians give me) They did take a couple of weeks to get fully used to but it was worth it.
They make everyday much easier. Prices or smaller print in shops etc. Where they sometimes don’t work so well is in poor light conditions. As I understand it, its because you are actually looking though a smaller proportion of the lens.
The one place I find real advantage is riding and reading the Garmin or map.
I’d say have a go and stick with it.

You must create the space or you will destroy yourself and become a very unattractive person who in turn people won’t want to support. Send condolences but don’t go beyond that or it will suck you in. I wouldn’t go to funeral etc as it will be compounding everything. Grim situation and air of subconscious tension/hope between you. Sorry but keep distance or things won’t improve for you as a person.

People always try to give cycling related presentsn and they are always crap cause they think halfords is a bike shop.

I gave the boss a present once when I was leaving. He was always complaining about the photo copier so I made a fake one and invited him to use it. Under the lid was a supply of doughnuts and when he switched it on it exploded a load of party poppers. Made him jump. Not far enough to hurt himself unfortunately.

Whats it about? For an interview I’d be careful about how wacky I’d get. Dependent on business I suppose. Involve the audience with some questions to illustrate points. Closed questions so that they don’t take you off piste. No vis aids means no power point but doesn’t mean nothing I suspect. I’ve used an orange effectively (not in a MP type of way) and a pen or phone could be a prop.
