Just replaced all the seals but still need to test it out.Everything looked ok wear wise but I’m no expert so time will tell

It’s only 6 months old and there’s no sign of any corrosion that I can see

It only seems loses air when in use.I’ll try to tighten the valve up but have already tried the ‘spit in the valve’ to see if there was any air coming out.

hubs are OK but I’m not sure there’s another winter left in the bearings

I not sure it’s cost effective to rebuild my old superstar switch hubs with new rims v new wheels

I did think about just fitting a Flow on the rear but I can’t find any in 26″ in white (to match my front Crest)

I’m guessing my rim is weakened as it won’t stay true for any length of time and I was snapping a spoke every other ride.
I was hoping a rebuild with new spokes would solve the problem but now I’m suffering from several loose spokes after every ride.

My plan was to replace them with something a bit more beefy.

Not sure what my nipples are made of to be honest!

It’s next weekend I’m over (22nd for a IOM VW club meet @ Kirk Micheal football ground)) but I’m with family so might struggle to do any all day rides, it will be more a case of squeezing a few hours in when I can really but thanks for the offers.

Thanks for the replies.I’ve already tried an ally bolt and still have the problem. The bottom bracket is fitted with one spacer as it came from Giant.I reckon the arm has come loose in the past and worn the splines.I’ve just cleaned it all and tightened it all up so I’ll give it a final try before buying a new crank.

    cheers

I’m definitely pre-loading the bearings with the black bolt, then leaving that in place and tightening the crank arms.I’m thinking the splines being worn in the crank arm is the only answer but I’ll give all the other suggestions a go before I spend any cash

Bearing are full seated into frame.

Not to sure if the re-tensioning nut in loose or not but I’m guessing it must be but not sure how that can be.Is it worth a bit of loctite on it to see if it helps?

I’ve just changed the BB to see if this would solve the problem but it’s not made any difference

Any idea how you adjust the play then?

The tool looks like it’s for adjusting the tension/resistance on the clutch.

    Is this play normal?

    windysurfer

My problem is not the amount of resistance but the free movement before the resistance starts. This allows the chain to go slack.

There’s 3 spacers under there, looks like 2 x 5mm and a 10mm.I’ll have a play around over the weekend.Just wondered what the norm was,but it seems there isn’t one.

    Cheers for the replies

26″ wheels to go on the front. Current CM is a trail extreme

Minion DHF 2.35 supertacky single ply is £19 at CRC. Could be a winner?

    Minion DHF?

Which one, there’s umpteen types to choose from.

Geax goma tyres are by far the best tyres I have used.

    Touché!

    Awesome aren’t they…

Are you using the TNT version or the normal folding? If they’re the folding version does it say “sticky” on the tyre anywhere? It does on the TNT version.
I’m finding a lack of grip on wet rocks and roots so wondered if I’ve got a different compound?

    cheers

CM is 2.4 while the Goma is 2.25.

@rickon, I’m finding exactly the same,I like the way the Goma rolls especially after the CM but it really lacks grip on damp rocks and roots.
Looks like the CM might be going back on.

De-greased the rim and re-taped,put a smear of none setting mastic around the valve hole and up she went without any leaks :-)

    cheers chaps
