Whilst everyone is here. Where’s the best place to park for Whalley/Longridge trails? And then to access them?

Part at Hurst Green and take the bridleway to to Longridge fell, if you’ve not ridden there before it can be tricky to find the good stuff and there’s been some logging which has blocked some routes.

    https://www.strava.com/activities/1591918135#43313069577.

Assume you mean Longridge near chipping?

I can’t think anywhere I would consider steep in there but I totally accept everyone is different.

I’d hate to see what you consider steep then.! The one we went down was 30% according to strava and there a few steeper

Thanks for the advice. Looks like practice is going to be the key, and knee and elbow pads :-)

Willalone and Stevet1 have a look at strava from last night, you’ll see the steep trail, (or at least steep to me!) there half a dozen along the ridge strava link

Bike’s a Cube Stereo TM 140 so it’s reasonably slack and has good forks and a dropper etc so I’m pretty sure it’s not the bike holding me back, it’s just confidence and practice I think?

https://www.searchforsites.co.uk is pretty good but doesn’t include all the Aires.

Done get motorway aires a campervam aires confused, heard lots of horror stories about motorway aires but I’ve stopped on loads of campervam aires without any problems.

Reached 51 in the sun in the Black Forest yesterday (42 in the van). Still 30 degrees in the van at 11 last night.Early morning bike rides and in the pool all day is the answer.

I checked my pivot bolt on my Stereo 140 after the bike developing a creak whilst riding to find it was loose. Loctite and torqued to 12nm and its been fine since but I now check it on a regular basis.

A Karmann Karuso may fit the bill.
Not quite on a par with a Florida but a bit easier to run and maintain

Start a thread on money saving expert, lots of people on there who are willing to help you though the process and will advice if it’s worth fighting or not.

I went to court over an Excel parking ticket and due to their paperwork not meeting the required standard won my case with help from MSE.

I’ve already changed the spacer from 0.2 to 0.4. Max I can fit is 0.6 so might give that a try depending how I get on with my seated sag setting.

So my adjustment on this shock is for LSC (firm, medium and open plus 10 clicks in open) and LSR?

I though the rebound was high speed which may be why sussmybike keep telling me I needed more HSC, (you have to tell SMB which setting are adjustable on your shock)

Thanks for the replies, looks like setting the sag seated is the future :-)

I’ve had mine 9 years, put 65k miles on it and it would cost me £4k more than I paid to replace it with the same model of van.

If I set it sittng on the seat I reckon it wouldn’t be far off but as Hob Nob I’ve always set it in the “attack position”

    Which 4 towers?

I’ve done Darwen, Rivi and Peel before, I’m guessing your 4th is Stoodley?
Not surprised it nearly killed you!

Plusgas penetrating fluid and let it do it’s stuff for a while. I’d try to cut the pad spring with your dermal type tool and get hold of the pin in between the pads.

Mine did exactly this, refitted them with low strength loctite, which took up the wear in the spline, and they stopped coming loose.

Mine’s the same with regard to clamp tightness, works fine if I got from full down to fully up but if I stop it mid stroke I have to push it back down to get it to come back up.

Mine is only a few months old, not done anything about it yet but did think about changing the seat clamp for one of the new bikeyoke clamps which claim to help with this problem

Took 12s Eagle off my new bike as the rear mech seemed to collect twigs and crap causing it to end up in the rear wheel. The GX Eagle rear mech seems just to flimsy.I Went back to 11 speed GX but probably didn’t give the Eagle a fair chance?

I hired one which was mentioned in a previous STW post from fatlama. Worked out at £20 for a week.

I picked a local 2 mile loop with a bit of everything on it, some climbing, some drops and jumps, some rough stuff and some fast flowing bits. I rode this loop and adjusted things after each lap until everything was in the green zone.
I made a note of these setting and now just work from these if I visit some where vastly different (uplift etc) otherwise these setting are fine for most of my riding.

I think it helps you focus on what your suspension is doing and what effect all the knobs and dial have rather than giving you the perfect setup.

Ordered a Vapour using the 15% off code posted up on the high viz thread (totalmtb15). Rude not too!

Hopefully it’s a bit cooler than my Enduro

Polaris AM Enduro or AM Vapour though? Tempted with the latter for spring/ autumn.

I’ve already got the Enduro but find it a bit too warm in anything above 5 degrees. Is the Vapour a cooler jacket?
