The also the option of a cheeky Black Brook footpath when you get to the bottom of the good bit of Great hill ,pops out at the top of the rocky decent into White Coppice, bit boggy in places worth a look. There’s also a couple of fun descents in White Coppice woods.

Hopefully Fax will sort out what every is currently wrong and that will also fix the knocking noise.

It’s within warranty so I’m going to ring them and send it back.

I thought the knocking may have been due to the air spring being full of grease or there being low oil in the lowers so I checked both of those whilst doing a service.

rebound is working as in I can see a difference between fast and slow.If I compress the fork it just returns really slowly or really really slow depending a rebound speed.

I was just worried that pushing the damper in may have caused a problem as int the Lost Co how too guide he does mention not to cycle the damper before fitting as you would lose some oil.

I’m going to give everything a final check and if i can’t see anything I’ll give silverfish a ring and see what they say.

The fork has had a knocking noise hence the service.

No, I used the socket as you describe.

It compresses OK, I’ve stripped them down again and the lowers slide on and off OK.
There’s hardly any resistance when pushing the damper leg in with the lowers off.

Just the lowers and the air spring not touch the damper.

I did compress the damper with the lowers off, could that have screwed things up?

5wt teflon in damper side and 20wt in air side as per Fox

The main reason I service it was to remove excess grease from the air chamber so I don’t think it’s that.

Even with the lower legs off the damper is really slow to return and make a squelching noise when I compress the damper.

I’ve had a 29 x 2.6 butcher om 30mm rim on the rear of mine without issues.

Pic from todays ride on the “NO NO” with a 2.6 x 27.5 on a 35mm rim on the back

Another ride on the NO NO

    Thanks for the links.
Guy is positive its from a 1 x 11 bike but it’s obviously a 2 x 11 from the pictures in these links.

I was hoping the part number would convince him.

    1 x 11 seems to have a 2.1 clutch and a 2 x 11 has a type 3 clutch.

Pull the cable out a bit then wrap it with insulation tape until its outer diameter is around the same size as the hole and jam in back in. Worked for me.

I had a bit of cable rattle for the rear brake hose which is route though the single fixed hole on the drive side. I just pulled a bit of slack hose out and wrapped a few turns of insulation tape around the hose until it was tight in the hole, then pulled the hose back though. Seems to have stopped it.

Loving mine for messing about in the local woods, currently running 29er front and a 27.5+ on the rear. Full susser hasn’t had a look in!

Took the club to court for discrimination and data protection.
Club won but decided to become a group of riders rather than a club.
I believe she still rides with another club over Manchester way.

I run the informal facebook group :-)
You’d probably need to drive to a meeting point though as we meet in a different location each week, but your more than welcome to join us, either a Tuesday, Wednesday or Sunday.

I’m just down the road from Mellor, the only places I ride from my door are around Dean clough res/ Whalley nab area, not a lots there but worth an hour or two. Longridge Fell is 30 minute road ride away and Billinge woods is 20 minutes away.
Probably better heading towards Tockholes in the car as there plenty to go at from there.

@damascus My chain is in alignment when in in the 5th cog from the biggest ring of the cassette (10 speed).

    @damascus
I’ve fitted a full chain guard to mine (hate chain slap!), its the type that replaces a spacer behind the bottom bracket.
I’m running none boost gpx cranks with none boost chain ring so remove the space from the none drive side and replaced it with the chain guard on the drive side.

Just finish building mine. Fork steerer still needs a trim and I may have the get new brake hoses as they’re both on the short side.
Probably the last time it will ever been clean!

It started clicking slight;y on Wednesday nights ride but I could find or see anything worng in the garage and it all felt smooth and quite.

Drove up to the lake yesterday and it started again on the first climb and got gradually worse over the next 20 miles or so but it was such a nice day I din’t want to cut my ride short so I just carried on, lucky I made it back to the car.
When I took the cranks out the driveside bearing disintegrated.

    None drive side seemed fine.

Anyone tried a ceramic coating? Planning on trying one but unsure which would be the easiest to apply on the driveway.

The 30% is Strava’s rating not mine. I guess it’s an average as the start of the run was ridable even for me.

Doesn’t alter the fact the steep bits were steep and I struggled to ride down it :-)
