So looks like we’re on for plan A,

7.30pm at the Bullring Bull this Thursday.

I_Ache, my number is the same if you need to play catch up.

I’m away until Monday now so won’t be on this thread. I guess we should give it a bit more time to see if anyone else is interested, but from the looks of it at the moment it’s still going to be the 1st…

I’ll be swapping the middle ring out for a 38T anyhow, thanks.

Just a bit worried because the angle the chainring mounts are sitting at looks a bit funny :/

…the old BMX track at Perry bar is no more.

The new one would make a good day out though and is something we should organise I reckon.

You choose a skateboard over a Rocket?!

I use a 2.25 Snakeskin Racing Ralph on the back and a 2.4 rocket ron on the front. The extra volume makes a big difference.

Since a few people already can’t do the 1st, let’s open it to a vote.

    Next time composite, next time…

Canal Steps you say. I’m currently between suspension forks, so will be running rigids. Its going to make all these steps ‘interesting’.

Not so keen on the Velvets then iainc? What’s making you swap to Reba’s?

Nice page, what do you think of the forks? Much brake dive?

I’m on 750’s but find myself gripping right at the outside of the grip with my hand hanging off a bit. Next set I get I’m gonna try a little wider, but then 750 seems a good compromise around Cannock.

One of the worst things about being a student in 2013 is that with the internet being so huge and its content so thoroughly archived, your embarrassing lack of self-awareness will be set in silicon for the foreseeable future. At least when I was a mechanical engineering student in the late ’90s there were no forums to argue on, just email digests and message boards so dialogue was much more difficult and thus less prone to letting you make a fool of yourself. Google this thread in 5 years time and cringe…

Just sold my Rev’s to a mate to raise cash for my new build, so yesterday I took my Soul to Cannock and ragged it around with rigid forks on. It was lots more fun than you might think, especially passing several full sus riders along the way :P

Do u mean that u leave the pads in? And do it with the wheel still in place?

Yeah, that’s what I mean. Using a thinner block will have the same effect, but could be a faff getting the thickness just right.

You may just need to advance your pads a little. See the section in the bottom right of this pdf.

Can’t justify the Fox 34’s. It just seems like a crazy amount of money for a suspension fork. The new Pike might be nice but is probably too much travel really and again, silly money. Wish I could try some slants before I plum for them!

I get the best results by bleeding with the caliper still on the bike. You have to be very careful not to get fluid on the pads though.

Thanks neninja. Ouch, those prices hurt! Makes me wonder weather to just go for it from one of the German companies and hope that Jungle will still sort it out if it does go wrong :/

Did you get this resolved with hibike in the end? They are cheapest for the lev at the moment I think, but seems like a bit of a risk…

You’d need at least a couple of these strips to do a whole frame I’d think?

Onzadog – What are your impressions of the V4s after riding them for a few months, if you don’t mind me asking?

Edit – Just realised you didn’t get them in the end, doh.

I was not aware of the existence of these ‘worms’, I’ll have to give them a go.

I just cut patches out of all the old inner tubes I have hanging around now and the tube of vulcanised rubber solution left over from the repair kit to patch them.

Scamper – I’ll get the non dla version and set them at 140mm I think. What was the problem with yours? I take it you have them back now?

Scamper – How are you getting on with your new forks? Interested to hear how you find them on a hardtail :)

So, 6 months on anyone got anything to add about the V4’s?

The internal widths are very different, for me this is the deciding factor. The answer btw is Flow EX :)

I am tempted by a burlier fork, I’m 95-100kg geared up and ride fairly aggressively I’d say. Thanks for the tip off on the Slant harrypb, does look like a very strong contender. I’m just a bit concerned about the lack of low speed compression adjustment.

    Any other suggestions?
