I wouldn’t, but I would recommend Spiderman into the Spider-verse.

I think the gravel traps/ land drain channels might work. You could run one along your boundary too.

You could also plant some trees on your boundary (assuming it a good way from the house).

Just found this about swales. Might be worth investigating if its your field.

We wondered about this a few years ago. I looked into one of those toilets that has a sink built into the top and a few other things (grey water harvesting etc).

In the end we just try to flush the toilet less ‘if its yellow, let it mellow… etc’. Another option is just save grey water in a bucket (from a bath or shower) and use that to flush the loo. We also got a water meter, this cut our bill by nearly 2/3rds.

I also managed to get a water saving pack from our water company – Yorkshire water kit. The shower timer is very handy.

We also use water butts to water the fruit & veg and for bike & car washing.

I ‘think’ the weight of it has got to be below 2040kg (car derived van or dual purpose vehicle) for you to be able to do standard ‘car’ speed limits. Should say on the chassis somewhere or V5.

Matt – you could try some brown cardboard. Its worked really well in ours.

I leave a pile of it next to the compost bin, to give the woodlice a head start, and then rip it up & chuck some in when its been rained on.

Please get a CO detector Alan. One of best friends died of CO poisoning.

IHN is right. They both need a plate to attach/remove.

The hafele hinge look about right – you can get them on ebay (amongst other places) trade is probably cheaper though

Ps make sure you wear gloves when using PU glue. I learnt this the hard way.

Polyurethane based glues are very good for dissimilar materials. They foam up slightly but can be trimmed when dry.

If it’s the frame with a 44mm headtube you can use a tapered fork. You’ll just need a new lower headset cup ( approx £20 from superstar. ec44/40 model).

Thanks guys. Just gone for a set of RS Reba from Probikeshop. Just need an external lower headset cup now.

    Any good

Alternatively can you split the door and use piano hinges and a stay of some kind?

Pump them up and see if they fully extend.

Mine seemed to not return fully after I added oil/ removed grease. After putting too much air in, and then letting some back out, they were fine.

We have those cordless makita’s at work. They are very good. Not tried on steel, but they work fine on concrete/blocks. We run them on 3ah batteries.

You could just fit the new mech and a new cassette and just try it with your existing middle chainring to see if you like 1x.

I use a 26/36 x 11/36 on my commuter. I only use the granny when towing our tag along.

    I’d try a 36 or 38 ring and maybe a 11/46 or 11/42.

The screw bit will fit fine in a standard schrader track pump head. The rubber just grips around the thread (like on a normal valve).

Daern; I use unramped stronglight rings and haven’t had any issues so far. Good point about Shimano a/ b rings tho.

    Another vote for 46 chainring. I use a 46/36 x 11-30 cassette.

You could always try a 46/34 that way you only need to buy an outer ring to try it.

Lusso shorts are great. I’ve had Assos shorts but my lusso ones are just as comfy and much cheaper.
Any jersey is fine as long as it fits; prendas ciclismo have some nice retro tops.
My current mitts are from Aldi.

    I carry this.
    2 Paracetamol/ 2 Ibuprofen
    Wound dressing
    Bandage
    Couple of wipes
    Couple of plasters
    Disposable gloves
    A whistle.

Good point about the inner tube sling. You can also just tuck an arm inside a collar to create a sling position.

We use easy composites at work. They have some very good guides on their website.
Just remember PPE and a well ventilated area when using most resins.

2nd the buff on cold days, over my mouth. I also just try breathe through my nose if it’s really cold. Steady away too; Good 10 or 15 min warm up.

Swimming, as well as learning all my triggers, has been the best thing for my asthma.

Just buy some daleks (or make a compost heap out of some pallets/old wood) and compost it. In a few months you’ll have really good compost to grow veg/flowers in.

Just remember to mix greens and browns. Also water it/ pour some wee in it every now and again. We put all our fruit/veg/tea bags in ours.

We’ve found old cooked corn on the cobs/ egg shells attract rats, so we’ve stopped composting these.

Comfortably (so you’ve got energy left for the other 2 disciplines) I reckon 3 or 4 months, swimming a couple of times a week. You may be able to do the distance sooner than this, but you’ll be knackered after if you’ve not swum for a while. 60 lengths is a good distance especially non stop (there are lots of other factors in open water too; no side to have a rest at/ getting kicked or whacked/ water temperature/ navigating).

I build up my distance in blocks. Say get used to doing blocks of 8, then repeat 3 or 4 times etc. Following week maybe do a steady 2 x 16 with a couple of breaststroke in between. Next swim do 4 x 8 with a few faster lengths at the end, next swim 3 x 10 but nice and easy. Don’t try and add distance/ speed each swim, do some easier swims in between.

Always try to warm up and cool down too. I do between 6 and 10 lengths warm up, and 4 and 8 to cool down (depending on how long i can take for lunch).

As suggested above i’d try a pool based sprint tri 8 weeks or so before your chosen event. This will get you used to the transitions and pacing yourself. Good luck.

    Brick training is good too.

    Great video.

I struggled a bit last year but seem to be in a much better place now. I’ve found the hardest thing to do is to be a bit more selfish. Do some more stuff for yourself; stuff that you enjoy. Take opportunities when they come your way, but don’t be afraid to say no if you’re too busy.

Fresh air, walking/biking, looking at trees, listening to natural sounds when out walking is good etc (running water/ wind in the trees/ birds). I found all these help.

I like these two books #chill and Mindful thoughts for walkers (i got one book i the charity shop and the other from our local library).

Ps turn off your phone and stop going on the internet is some of the best advice i was given.
Also don’t worry about the past (its gone), or the future (it hasn’t happened). I’m trying this at the moment.

    Good luck

Coatsy: as others have said don’t use cone spanners to undo them. You can use one cone spanner and one normal spanner (or a vice).

Alternatively I got taught a good trick a few years ago. You don’t necessarily need to use cone spanners to undo the cones. Just use two normal spanners, one on each side of the hub and just undo the outer locknuts. When you have finished the service and you have locked the cones against the locknuts, you can again just use normal spanners to take up small amounts of play/fine adjust.

    I just Park ones btw

Got my first counselling session this afternoon. Hopefully that should help me longterm. I’m not particluarly in a bad place, but find it hard to switch off/ stop worrying. Lots of exercise/fresh air is helping at the moment.

Already had two family Christmas meals (last Sat and Sunday); nice to catch up with people, but felt I didn’t enjoy them perhaps as much as i should. Next year i’m not going to do two in two days, i’m going to ask if we can spread them out a bit.

Roll on longer days and some more sunlight.

I’ve had an up and down year, but the things that helped me are yoga/swimming & easy bike rides and this book

The book is not directed at cycling, although there is a cycling one i think, but i found it very useful. As other people have said don’t worry about recording distances or times when doing all your exercise, just go and try and relax. Bimbles are the future! Good luck next year.

I think one tube should be enough. The tube is about 100mm long. Just make sure you clean the area to be glued really well.
