My r reg 106 diesel did just under 65mpg on its last tank full.
I'm not sure how smart it is, but it is a rather fetching green colour.

Steam inhalation is always good. Try and get lots of vit c inside you and also zinc (as well as garlic). My mate always used to swear by a good chicken soup.
It may sound strange but i seem to get less chest infections now, after i gradually weaned myself off my inhalers.

I've found fizik very good for long(ish) rides.
I use an aliante on my cross/ road bike and an older pave model on my mtb. I think the gobi is meant to be quite popular as well.
See you on the start line at kielder!

it could be these, if not just look at the code on the bearing and ring any good bearing supplier.

When he said i think i deserve some credit, he was commenting about not just being in the right place at the right time, but that he knew the wind would cause issues yesterday so it was better to ride near the front and not get caught out.

Offroading – i’m not sure if i’ve got this right, but if your selling them back at a higher rate then you are losing money.

You needed the euro rate to worsen for you to make money when you converted them back, rather than increase.

ps i like the travellex pre order thing – it works quite well.

Just take pre packed cous cous – the ainsley harriot stuff is quite good – you may need 2 sachets if your very hungry. Its about £1.70-80 for 2 sachets (currently on two for one at somerfield).

i can’t understand why everyone is moaning – there are lots of mtb events, enter them instead.
The 3peaks is a dedicated cross race, i did it last year for the first time and it is great. I hope it always stays a cross race. If you want to do it, buy or borrow a cross bike and stop whinging.

it’s 19.54 av (still extremely impressive) – lots of other records here http://www.legslarry.beerdrinkers.co.uk/tech/OtherStuff.htm

ps andy wilkinson did a 100mile tt the other week on a hybrid in 3h42!

it took me 7 days to recover properly from mayhem. i rode twice last week and felt shattered both days, so i had the weekend off riding. I did 42miles on monday night, on the road, and felt great.

So i’d recommend lots of sleep and having a few days off the bike.

i replaced all the bearings in mine last week, and it was very hard to get off. The outer freehub bearing had started to rust and was very tight on the axle, so i sprayed it with gt85 and left if to soak for a while. It came off quite easliy after this.

if its an older xc hub use this guide http://www.mountainbikerides.co.uk/fettling/hope_hub.htm

here is the hope guide too http://www.hopetech.com/database/Rear_Cassette_hub_inst.PDF

i had a similar thing to this with a seatpost constantly creaking – my friend told me to check the frame welds, lo and behold the top tube/ seat tube joint had cracked. i hope it isn’t this in your case.

the charge won’t be any lighter and it will only take up to a 100mm fork (they ride very nice, but mine isn’t particularly lightweight)- you won’t benefit much by changing the frame if your spending less than £400.

I’d get lighter wheels and better tyres as suggested above.

I’d have thought it would either be the cups moving slighty in the frame (remove, clean, grease and refit like rolymo said) or it will be the crank spline interface that need tightening/ cleaning.

we used a trangia with a gas burner earlier this year, whilst camping in Scotland. It worked very well.

you can get reba sl’s from merlin for £250 if you don’t want adjustable travel (and stick to 100mm). They’ll also be lighter than the recons and toras.

ps I have a pair of coil recons on my duster and quite like them – they work well for a cheapish fork.

    i nearly moaned and then realised its quite good value for money when you compare it to some other events;

footy match £25 to £45 + food and drinks (less than 2 hours – normally rubbish for the amount they get paid)
london eye £13 (approx 1/2 hour)
sprint triathlon £35 (just over an hour) – london tri = £73 yikes
    alton towers £36 + parking
    half marathon – about £20

ok its dearer than an audax, but requires much more organising/ planning

Washing up liquid and warm water in a jar works well- do it twice, then rinse it with just water, wipe it dry, put it back on and lube it.

As for the cassette, just brush it clean with a very stiff brush (even a wire brush will do).

snaps – how easy are they to change? – just realised my htII is shot, so may be interested if i don’t need to buy any tools.

You cannot compare the Rhyl incident to this. That was a travesty of justice and this is a case where someone has broken the law on numerous occasions and now is moaning about a relatively tame punishment. 6 months is not really a long time at all. If your that bothered buy him a bike or taxi him around for 6 months.
We have punishments for a reason and thats to deter people doing things – your mate clearly needs to learn…. Its his own fault so stop moaning.

peugeot 106 diesel (1.5) – should get 60+ mpg on a good run, 50 mpg normal driving. I paid £725 for an R reg last night. Its my second one. I like them as the are easy to drive, pretty cheap to run and spares are easy to get.

That’s funny, because the Germans were convinced that they could be defended. And you’d take military advice from a country who tried to invade russia in the winter? I seem to remember the frenchies tried this as well…..

ps wasn’t Richard born near Oxford and only moved back to France beacuse his parents split up?

I had this issue once. I managed to get my bike in a very large suitcase (just) but it took a lot of dismantling/ careful packing/ time.
I think it was due to continental not taking bikes at the time and me having forgotten to check this when i booked the flight.

Raoul – the post office rate is better than m&s i’m afraid (i think it always is to be honest). I’ve checked rates on a few occasions and it normally goes travelex, P/O, then M & S

Ok this wasn’t last weekend, it was the weekend before. We were on safari in Zambia for 3 days (my mrs is doing some research there) so i went out to visit her.
This elephant charged at us as we had disturbed it eating murula fruit – luckliy for us it stopped just before it got to the truck!

TJ – its a shame unemployment was lower when she left power than when she started. You seem to miss this point out.

I don’t think Gordon has had much happen in his favour, but i think he lacks any real leadership skill/ charisma/ deciveness etc and thats why people have so little faith in him.

I have to agree with TJ. I don’t just ping the bell and hope, you may have to do it again and i always say thankyou or have a quick chat with them as I/ we pass.
Its not hard to be polite; i think thats whats missing in the majority of cases.
