Thanks all – Jambalaya, wise words! Message left. SAT bus says no service. But I don’t believe them, so a little more digging required…

Riiight…. ‘quick quote’ is 84 Euro. Go to book, enter details (1xbike, 1xbag, flight arr 14.20, dep 14.55, accommodation central morzine) and price goes up to 347.

    340 euros isn’t that bad

Thanks for the context. It is still a lot of money. I haven’t asked specifically for a solo journey, but it’s all they are offering. 340 is a long way from 80, and flights are at sensible times. Maybe there’s not a market to run a regular shuttle in summer months? But sounds like Jambalaya managed it. Therein lies the problem that I am trying to solve…

On my experience of owning a Passat, I recommended one to the OP.

Don’t know about weight. Bought mine as a stop gap. Done about 400km fast(ish) single-speed XC riding with plenty of mud. Managed to put a significant bend in the front wheel on the second outing but this was my fault. Hubs seem great (sealed bearings, all still running smooth). The freewheel is holding up to the greater loads of SS riding. QRs are a bit ‘industrial’. Rear spokes now need a bit of a tweak (to be expected following bedding in). I am 88kg, wheels are on a rigid bike. In short – I’d say they’re ok for non-racing XC duties, and good value.

Recently been through this, it boiled down to – 1) New Shimano cranks (that come with BB) and adaptor or 2) Suck it up and just keep replacing the cheap SRAM one.

I went with option 2, simply because I’ve another bike now with ext. BB which I’ll be putting all the winter miles on. I think what I’m trying to say is don’t discount accepting that the cheap SRAM PF30 BBs are a bit cack.

You’re going on holiday, not financing a motorway, you could make the same saving by not buying a toblerone at the airport

Thanks for that one, will remember it for next time Mrswilljones starts touring the county for the best exchange rate… does my head in.

The drive to and from Le Mans 24hr (2012) was quite entertaining – po po with speed guns hiding in the bushes in the central reservation, lying under the crash barriers, little heads popping out from behind bridges. Even saw a camera van hiding in a bush. Never have I stuck below a speed limit so religiously. Brilliant when they pulled over a string of Ferraris (all of which were definitely above the speed limit) simply by running out into the motorway in front of them. Genuinely got the impression they were enjoying their work that weekend.

They can’t get you out for GM in my opinion, best they can do is a final warning, you’ve got the upper hand in this situation if you go on the offensive I’d say 17 years service goes a long way to proving competence. See an employment lawyer and get real, actual, legal advice. If you’re not in a union, perhaps you can have a lawyer present for and couple of hundred notes invested you could end up with a nice windfall, proper pre- written reference and a new job down the line.

Get on the offence – It’s the best defence.

Problem is she has to be good at it by September as she’s supposed to be going to nursery”

Sister in Law’s approach made me chuckle: Off to nursery in pants and they miraculously come back potty trained. My ‘really?!’ response met with ‘well what the hell do you think I pay them for…’

Ours is 31 this year, just treated it to first set of new elements (One side of one of them was toasting unevenly, but still just about working).

    +1 for what devash says.

Conan, if you want more of a loop, you could look at something like this
Slight hijack – devash, that fp round the back of Eccup, have you ever been shouted at? It would unlock some more routes for me, but I find confrontation ruins a good ride…

“The past few years, since the 2008 credit crisis, have been extremely difficult and the squeezed middle have certainly suffered, along with others – the younger generation, in particular,” is the verdict of Nutmeg chief executive and co-founder, Nick Hungerford.

Linkedin suggests the case study works for this guy too. Lazy journalism?

OK, I’m going for it, you’ve all made it sound so easy 🙂

    Following this process –

    1) sign up for free month Experian trial
    2) print off credit report
    3) write a letter to everyone, even if you know you never had ppi (obviously don’t do this for phone contracts etc)
    4) they’ll get back you telling you that they are either investigating (good news), or that they can’t find any record (bad news)
    5) wait, after a few weeks…the cheques will come in

Got to step 3. This issue is, I don’t know whether I had PPI or not, so not sure entirely how to word the letter – the templates I can find all rely on you knowing you had a policy. Can anyone point me in the direction of something that’s a bit more, ‘please investigate on my behalf’? Or do I need to do some more legwork?

As a document of a certain time & place, it’s excellent.

I wonder if “a bunch boring tossers doing nothing of the slightest interest” was the authors point given the context? Been a while since I read it, but I do recall this carefully crafted sense of hopelessness throughout.

18 months of c.1hr at a time with our first (now 2.5yrs), sleeping through only really started when he became much more physically active (i.e. walking all the time). You may be at this stage now though OP? If not, then perhaps something to attach some small hope to?

Muppetwrangler – I helped set up and now work for an organisation that does a great deal to help people battling this disease. Drop me a line – will [at] brainstrust.org.uk if you’ve any questions around treatment, later effects, getting active again (this is important) etc. 80% of the people we work with are carers, so may have some useful ‘stuff’ for you too. Tons of info over on http://www.brainstrust.org.uk

Loaded with electronics and gadgets because that’s what the customer wants/what you can market. Do you REALLY need ABS? Whens the last time you used it?

Driving normally? Twice, ever. And I’d have given everything I own to have had it, both times.
