Maybe the other (online?) shop you bought the frame from should have faced it?

I got it for a steal on ebay, from the distributor. Doubt they have the tools to do it either.

    Did they ever ?

Yeah, all three used to have them.

    it will be ok

I know it will be OK, just seems strange. We always faced new frames when I worked in one of the shops I tried. That was nearly 20 years ago I suppose.

I’m thinking for only an extra £30 I should get the Reba but I’m not sure if that’s just a bit snobby?

When I said more modern I meant in its ability to take longer forks, bigger tyres and so on. I didn’t mean it was someone’s evolution of the Explosif.

I had a 2003 Explosif, the grey one made from True Temper OX Platinum, with an inch and an eighth headtube. I said the Breath was like a heavier, more modern version. Yes, the Breath was cheaper (hence heavier) but it was also 6 years younger. The ride was very similar in general terms. Not the same, similar 🙂

Truth be told I wish it had been a 17″ with the same length top tube, just because it had a lot of seatpost showing most of the time!

Sanderson Breaths are very good. I had one for a while a few years ago. I’ve had several steel Konas and a 456. The Breath was like a slightly heavier and more modern version of an Explosif I once had.

I’ve just managed to snap up an unused 2012 Charge Duster frame on eBay for £165, which I’ll be building up soon 😀

Rough rule of thumb is single or double chainrings = medium cage, triple chainrings = long cage. Like svalgis says, if you stay away from small/small (or big/big if your chain is on the short side) you should be fine.

Full run-down of past car names:
    CNxx WRZ – Wurzell
    Yxx LFG – Elfie-G
    Vxxx OCA – Oscar
    Pxxx DPE – Dippie
    Pxxx YPE – Yippie
    Hxxx HMO – Homo

I’ve always named my cars. The name always has to have something to do with the registration though. My current car has WRZ at the end so the name is WuRZell. My last car had LFG at the end so the name was eLFie-G. The one before that had OCA at the end so the name was OsCAr, and so on..

Why on earth would you bore it out when you can use a reamer.

It’s unusual to find a reamer that’ll take a 6mm hole to a 8mm hole. Reamers are normally used to make very precise diameter holes so you might drill 7.5mm and them ream to 8mm. The hole in a shock mount reducer is only a clearance hole for a screw so the precision of the diameter is unimportant, relative to the concentricity. Drilling it out with a good 8mm drill would be perfectly acceptable. No need to bore or ream.

Lathe with an 8mm drill in tail stock. Drill through then de-burr with countersink on either side. Simples.

Got the car valeted but the scratches are too deep to buff out. I’m going to have to get someone else to fix them. Surprisingly the window has worse scratches on it than the paintwork, they were just hidden by chunder residue.

Just taken it to a local company. When I went out I also noticed a large selection of scratches on the edge of the roof and rear wing, from where he dropped the jerry can of water on the car as he tried to rinse it off. Muppet.

    Anodizing innit.

Its what all da G’s are into.

They’re made from titanium, with titanium nitride finish.
Goldtec used to do a whole range of titanium sprockets and chainrings (and some hub internals) with that finish in the early 90’s. BLING!

I’m still undecided. It just doesn’t seem to hold together as an album.

There are three songs on the album I like: Madness is an excellent song but I can’t help thinking they could have done more with it. Follow Me is also a good song, with the addition of the pop-dubsteppy bits, courtesy of Nero, is truly room shaking. Animals is cracking, proper old-fashioned Muse.

This is the problem though, there are good songs but it’s not a good album.

If you want an introduction to Muse I’d say Absolution is probably the best place to start.

Semenuk is rad^sick! There’s probably some a name for it but it looks to me like he’s in the middle of a very table-topped (inverted?) 360?
I think he’s taken off from the wooden ramp (booter?) on the right and is rotating anti-clockwise. He’ll continue rotating, come out of the table-top and land on the back-side of the mount of dirt on the left of the shot, out of frame.

As a slipped disc sufferer you have my sympathy! For the spasm and inflammation try alternating hot water bottle and ice pack every 2 mins or so for 15-20 mins.

Pain permitting, when you lie down on the floor try to lie on your side with a pillow between your knees, rather than flat on your back. Stand up and walk about as much as you can. Sit down as little as possible.

Get to the doctors as soon as you can. Hope you feel better soon.

On a pedantic note; the forks, bars and stem weren’t anodised, just painted. You can’t anodise steel. 😀

I’ve had a TC Polytune for a couple of years. Only thing wrong with it is it’s quite noisy when tuning. This isn’t a problem if you’re on a low gain setting but if I’m on my balls-out channel and then go to tune I just get amplified display driver chip! The ability to quickly check the tuning of all six strings, between songs, makes up for the noise.

Our bassist uses the bigger Korg Pitchblack and loves it.

Our other guitarist uses a Boss TU2, which is pretty much the industry standard pedal tuner. Now superceeded by the TU3 I believe.

We’ve got quite a few Global knives, most of them were wedding presents from almost 10 years ago. The ones I use most are the G2, GS5 and GSF22. They are great knives, as long as you look after them. I’ve always used a Minosharp sharpener on ours. Buy cheap, buy twice (or more)!
