Your telling me – its a right lot of meesing about. Especially squeezing the lever whilst simultaneously opening and closing the bleed nipple. Anyway – i did what chopchop suggested and both brakes are rock solid now. Might be worth bearing in mind for future reference.
willberFree MemberIts about 15 miles to derwent/ladybower – which is where I usually start from.
willberFree MemberIs there a reason why you fully extend it? Surely you could run it at about 90% of full? Am I missing something??
willberFree MemberI live in Tintwistle – ride a bright green Nomad carbon if u ever see me out and about. I went out today over Arnfield Road onto the Bridleway there which was alright. I’m just trying to get a better idea of what’s around the area. I used to live in Simmondley – infant grew up there, Pennine Road and then Cotswold Close to be exact……small world.
willberFree MemberI run 2012 Fox Talas 36 FIT RLC Kashima on my Nomad – they are fantastic but probably no better than the Marz and at considerable cost. I’m happy with mine but if I was buying I’d get Marz – bang for buck and all that. Take some setting your forks up though – the frame is so stiff that it won’t mask any shortcomings in suspension setup that you might be afforded with an Alu frame
willberFree MemberIt gets on my tits – walkers, horse riders, whoever – they complain about the damage bikes cause etc. Why do these people think that they get to decide what is and is not an acceptable level of damage? Bikes cause damage, feet cause damage – deal with it!!! I had a guy try and kick me from my bike as i rode down Jacobs ladder last year – I doubt he’d try it again. Also had a farmer try and drag me off the back of my bike in January – had a good dust up with him too. They wind me the F#@K UP!!!!
willberFree MemberI smoked for about 10 years. I tried patches – didn’t work and they made me ache. I read several Allen Carr books and quit each time – only to start again within 6 months. Then I bit the bullet and had a go at an Allen Carr clinic – not cheap, but have not looked back. There have been times since I stopped where I have thought about smoking, but I cannot ever imagine a situation now where I would actually be able to smoke a single drag let alone a full cig. Something clicked when I did the course that never fully did when I read the books – I always felt that the books were trying to get you to THINK a certain way about smoking and that would make you stop. When I did the course I realised it wasn’t about making you think a certain way, it was about making you see the TRUTH about smoking. Once you see it, and understand that the truth is unchanging and it does not care about your view point – it just IS – smoking is a very difficult thing to do – for me all but impossible.
willberFree Memberstill trying – still waiting.
how long are tickets usually available for before they sell out
willberFree Memberjust sat up after a night shift to register – got part way through to find no UK as an option in the drop down box – then it through me out and now servers are too busy.
WTF?
willberFree MemberMuch the same for me at Llandegla today. Got there at 1pm and rode the black – it was rubbish TBH. I don’t mind climbing provided it pays off – but at Degla today it was awful. You were either washing out or constantly worried about doing so. I couldn’t look up cos I was constantly worried about ice. Plus, where it was thawed u’r was muddy and slow. Not worth the mileage at the moment.
willberFree MemberI did mine! Piece of piss – people will tell you. It’s. Really difficult and you’d be mad to try – but I renovated my current house myself and of all the jobs I did – the rewire was. The easiest and most enjoyable. But remember that your not supposed to really. The legislation is a bit vague in places but essentially should be done to 17th edition by a competent person. I’d never rewired anything – I learnt how ring and lighting circuits were wired. Then applied the regulations as set out in 17th edition. I’ll get flamed for saying all this but I’m just telling u what I did. For years people wired, plumbed and gassed there own houses.
willberFree MemberNever had an issue – push pistons in – place pads together and place spring round them. Hold the pads rtogether at the grip bit and pop em in.
willberFree MemberMine came without a bleed kit and needed bleeding. Any avid bleed kit will do – inc the cheap ones off eBay.
Id say go for it – they are mint
willberFree MemberI kinda don’t get the idea of dual ring chain guides. Bash ring and 2 chainrings I get – but you still need the front derailer. So if you’ve got that why bother with the weight of chain device?
willberFree MemberWell – I decided to start again with the suspension. I’ve set my sag perfectly now and started again with the rebound settings by bracketing. Its now a million times better.
I hadn’t understood the Adaptive Logic thing fully and when i’d been setting the sag I had the “open” position on option 2. I changed it to opion “0” – i.e. fully open, re set the sag (which meant the air pressure went up from about 180 psi to 220 psi. It now sits up in the midstroke a lot more and the small bump sensitivity is awesome.
Thanks to everyone who contributed.

willberFree MemberTOYS19 –
Yeah it is a High Volume Air Can, and i’m 15 stone…..
I’ll look into this tuning spacer
Cheers
Will
willberFree MemberThanks for the replies guys – the rebound is functioning correctly, it just doesn’t seem to have any effect on the problem I’m having. I’m 15 stone – what pressure would u expect to run in the can? I dont think the pro pedal is working – I have tried it on all 3 settings and none make any difference. I have considered a CCDB with Ti spring
willberFree MemberHeres what I do
Fit caliper and leave the bolts slightly loose – 1/2 a turn
Spin wheel FORWARDS and apply brake
Release brake and spin wheel – This time gently apply the brake until the pads just start to touch the disc. Now brake slightly more and hold the wheel and pull it so your pulling it against the power of the brakes – you should hear the disc rubbing against the pads – i.e. quite a bit of effort and friction but wheel should move a bit at a time. (Obviousley you cant have the brake fully squeezed or the wheel wont turn). Next press the brake fullt and try to rotate the whhel forwards, it wont wont cos the brakes on but it will apply pressure to the calpier – keep the forward rotational pressure on the wheel, the lever pressed in and at the same time tighten the two bolts – a tiny bit at a time, swaping from one to the other until they are tight. Release wheel and brake. Take bike out – go down the road get up to speed then break hard. Repeat about 10 – 15 times.willberFree MemberAs said above – you only see the end part of the video – and eveyone says "that cop should have tried to calm it down, etc etc etc…."
Look at it this way – realistically. The woman Jwalks or whatever they call it in the USA, officer approaches her to speak to her about what she's done – her reaction then determines which way the rest of the incident goes. She ends up resisting arrest, presumably on the basis that the verbal precursosrs between the cop and her were unsuccessful. As the cop attempts to arrest her, she starts to fight with him. At this stage her friend joins in, plus it looks like other people that are present may also be with the woman in the pink. The cop has a split second to react – he has to live with the consequences of his decision.
I'm not saying the cop was right or wrong, i'm not saying his reaction was over the top or justified – all i'm saying is that until you've been in that sort of situation you really cant judge.
I am a cop – although I do not agree entirley with the way things are done – I think people would be very unhappy if we went on strike for 24 hours. And as an example of how things can appear – I remember stopping a guy in a car once to tell him to put the seat belt on his child in the back seat. I was very calm and reasonable, and tried to explain that it was his responsbility to ensure the child was strapped in, and that I had no intention of giving him a ticket – it was merely advice. He then spat in my face through his open window, tried to hit me with his door and then tried to drive over my leg. My reaction to this was to drag him from his car and after a struggle he was arrested for various things. How easily could this little story be headlined "Over zealous cop beats and arrests father infront of child". if only the part from me dragging him from the car was shown. I'm sure people would say I had over reacted etc. However had the public witnessed the entire incident i'm sure their reactions would be different. We are quite lucky in the UK in that generally the public are reasonable understanding people, provided they know all the facts – its just a shame only one side ever gets aired.
The media is rubbish – and people would do well to try and see it for what it is, biased and unreliable.
