Just plotted out a Brighstone exploratory route using the dreaded secret trail give-away that is Strava. Segment explore and heatmap are brilliant :D

no_eyed_deer – he actually came on to a thread asking for opinions on a line through a set of corners and suggested the OP get a new hobby for not sharing the same cycling philosophy that he did. Go for it if you want to support him.

Same issues with mine. Brake cable bending outwards and tiny holes for zip ties. Had to get some very small cable ties from work and still had to open the holes a tiny little bit as there was so much paint accumulated in them. Great fun bike though – used it on my commute this morning which is 10 miles, 1000ft climbing, 50% road and 50% woodland trails.

Nice! I managed a room full of ‘ooohs’ and sharp intakes of breath at Rush Skatepark as I attempted a 360 into the foam pit with the bike landing heavily onto my gonads.

I’m just taking a Banshee Spitfire, so all I’ll be doing is playing on the trails up in Brighstone Woods. I’ll be on holiday so will pass on the masochistic climbs, thanks all the same :D

Ride there quite a bit too lanky

lanky it’s not scary at all really. Just start on the smaller stuff/street section and build your confidence before progressing to the bowls etc. the old gits session is brilliant but really popular so it’s hard to get that many runs in and learn stuff. Better to go evening sessions in the week. I’ve not been for a while but if you get yourself a ride sorted PM me if you fancy a weekday evening session there, I’m itching to get back there.

edit: pickle I get all that I’m a long time skater and support skater-owned as my mate owns 50:50 in Bristol. I was just taking the p1ss a bit in a non-threatening kind of way :-)

Sorry yep my mistake you’ve got to buy your BMX from the right sort of shop or its not a proper BMX :D

If you like the colour Lime, and can stretch a bit further, this is a brilliant choice

As for getting a BMX in general, just go for it, if you don’t like it, its not going to make you destitute. A good quality full bike for the price of an average joe MTB wheelset. For the record I got my first BMX 18 months ago as a 40th birthday present. I’ve used it every week since whether riding round with the kids or at the local BMX/ pump track, even go to Rush Indoor Skatepark quite a bit. Amazing fun!

bigyinn I started a thread a few weeks ago asking for routes. I’m staying in Brighstone and I understand there’s some good riding in the woods there so I’m definitely bringing my bike!

Off on holiday there in a few weeks. I was going to take my bike, but I’ll probably not bother now and just hang around the poo museum.

Leave him to have his ‘fun’ molgrips, he can’t even understand the concept of people adjusting their forks to make them perform better. Back in his day this was all fields :D

Recently changed out my rear from HR2 to DHR2. I’d read conflicting reports over which was faster rolling, but for me the DHR2 is definitely faster. However, that’s not really why I changed it, just a bit of a bonus.

14.5 stone here too, riding a Spitfire with 150mm Pikes. I’ve ended up with 3 tokens and 25% sag. Pretty plush over smaller stuff and ramps up nicely on big hits. Tried one at a time until I found a good balance.

Youngs had a good game against Wales but sill threw some outrageous hospital passes that stalled our attack a few times. I’m glad to see Care start.

no_eyed_deer, if you are keeping tabs on this thread, would you be interested in my Blur frame at a reduced price? Jungle recommended a carbon repair firm but couldn’t come up with anything else, which I didn’t expect anyway. I’ll throw in a long off-piste FoD guided ride for you and your riding buddies….

I ride off-piste in FoD as much as I can and there is so much stuff as mboy says. However there is a place for the Verderers too – especially after a 3 or 4 hour muddy winter slog around the off-piste stuff, the final blue descent can be very welcoming for a bit of hard-packed super fast fun.

Storm is tougher than a Beaver and just as good in the mud. Shorty is a great option but bigger than Beaver or Storm so might not fit. Not as big as a Mary though so you might be alright. I’d go Shorty if it fits.

Most of the Dowies are still on there dobie, and most of the Stauntons – Bunker, Widowmaker, Billys and the Buckstone stuff. Dead end down never stays on there for long though, just gets flagged as dangerous as everyone wants to keep it a secret ;-)

I use Viewranger on my iPhone to follow GPXs and its never failed me even on a 5 hour ride across Dartmoor. Although the battery was on 3% when I got back to the car…

Let’s not forget however that this is France, at home, playing the English. I guarantee they will suddenly play with the power and pace of old and stop us getting a grandslam. I can see it now – an attritional first half with little in it. Followed by 10 – 15 minutes after the break where they step it up a gear and put too many points on the board for us to claw back in the last quarter when we suddenly switch on. No point in even watching the game

Seriously Katy Curd will be ideal, and FoD isn’t too far from Oxford. She has coached female only groups from our club that were looking for the exact thing that your better half is after

Yes, google Katy Curd, it comes straight up. She has coached 4 or 5 groups from our club and they have given great feedback.

Can’t see us being dominant in the scrum, I’d say it’ll be evenly matched. And if Joubert gets it into his head early in the game that Marler is coming in on the angle (which he does tend to do) it could swing the scrum in Wales’ favour.

A MK1 Golf GTi 1.8 with 260,000. I bought it at 250,000 for £400. On the way home from buying it the clutch went, which the previous owner replaced at his cost. After that 10,000 miles with only a basic service. My mates all had MK2 16Vs – up to 70 mph it was noticeably quicker, at which point not surprisingly the 16Vs were quicker.

“the middle class business nobbers have all sold theirs to buy an Audi”

Ain’t that the truth, although you could lose the ‘middle class’ bit too, and possibly ‘business’ at a push
