Cheers. Figured it was something along those lines, just double-checking!

It’s hard to say for certain, but I’m 99% that I would shoot (maybe kneecaps ;-)) some intruder in my house in the dead of night, I don’t care what his intentions are – mine are to protect Mrs and Baby Wilko. One things for sure though, by the time I’d dug out the keys to my shotgun cabinet, got out a 12 bore, grabbed a box of cartridges and loaded 2, they’d have nicked all my electrical equipment and sold it on.

Did a lap of the enduro circuit yesterday morning, it was superb, can’t wait to do it again next Sunday. It was dry and fast all the way round, fingers crossed it stays this way!

On the subject of your bike – Mega with 36s will be perfect for caning the dh runs, nothing there is too demanding. The new good bad ugly dh has some bigger drops but nothing the mega wont take in its stride

Always plenty of guys in pyjamas to ask the way to the top too

A genuine 31.5 lb with a CCDB and Reverb post is bl00dy good going. Still plenty of opportunities to lose weight on that spec too for anyone concerned about that sort of thing!

It really is an each to his own thing I think. I’ve ridden flats since I learnt to ride a bike and I’ve not even considered clipping in. I do everything from 5 hour xc rides to uplift days.

Currently I have Nukeproof Electrons and they are slim, light, tough, cheap and ultra-grippy together with my FiveTen Impact 2s. Previously swore by Wellgo MG1s, and before that DMR V12s.

I can’t see what I will gain from clipping in, maybe if I was a racer looking for the extra small percentages, then I’d try them. For now I’ll work on my fitness and technique first!

dashed – if the track starts at the top of corkscrew as mentioned above, then that is the entire hill (only missing out the pedally flat section just before it) Corkscrew top + new track bottom will be awesome

whiter – seriously, can you push up in 10 minutes from the very bottom of the new track to the start of corkscrew? Thats some good pushing, esp with a full on dh bike

    wilko1999

dashed – this was what I was wondering too. The new track starts some way down the hill. There’s some good top sections that could lead into it

Very tempting. Will this be on the new ‘The Good, The Bad, The Ugly’ section? Which top section will you use?

Dean, highly unlikely a service would have prevented it. If it was a piece of grit, then it would have got on there during a ride, and got dragged past the seal when the suspension was moving.

Thanks Brant, yeah I realise its the Fisher price, I’m not unhappy with Planet X about it. I bought it in December last year, so about 9 months old. I actually fancy a new EG frame as it happens as I like the geometry changes and longer top tube!

I will speak to Alex shortly to discuss further, I’ve missed a couple of calls from her.

Thanks jota I’ll check them out

Dez, I’ve shortened brake hoses and bled them before, but I’m by no means an expert, so any help would be much appreciated

Cheers fd3chris, you were right, they were cheaper so I’ve gone with them

Don’t make sense to me, all motorbikes have front brake on the right, euro or not

I ride both so I’m quite happy with them being the same!

Seems to be the case – 10spd shimano chain dropped off the granny ring on a ride last weekend and somehow a couple of links got themselves twisted through 90 degrees

Theres stacks of stuff round the valleys and woods of Stroud but your best option for a few hours is definitely Standish/randwick Woods. Best way from Stonehouse is head towards Gloucester on B4008, turn right up Horsemarling Lane.

Up there are some trails including a national trust marked single track route, some unofficial single track, a few not-particlarly-steep but great fun downhills, and some shorter jump / drop runs dotted around near the various quarries.

Take your mtb and explore. Obviously best is to get shown around but you should be able to find most of the stuff fairly easily

Maybe the performance of mine isn’t as it should be then? It feels very wooden and the floodgate lever makes next to no difference at all.

I’ve tried all different pressures and rebound settings to no avail!

IA, maybe you’re right there. And I love the bike too, I would have another. However, the annoying thing is the things I would have changed about it would be…

    – longer top tube
    – slacker head angle
    – better rear shock

… the exact things that Onone have modified for this new version. And its available for the price I paid for mine! Even less with the 10% offer

Oh well, thats progress I guess!

Sorry OP I’ve digressed from your original thread

As I said, if my shocks back soon you can come and try mine

I’m in Stroud with a Large El Guapo from 2012. I’m 6’1, but my height is more torso than legs if you catch my drift. Iits nearly spot on for me albeit a longer top tube would be ideal. You could try mine for size

However, that all depends how quickly Onone return my Monarch which I have posted off today for a warranty claim. Its losing rather a lot of air you see!

    Although I’d love a CCDB for it…

Brant any chance of a special discounted shock part-exchange?! :D

Hey good work dude! I used to ride with our two whippets, they are unreal. No matter how fast you go, they can always go faster, even full pelt downhill

Had a similar problem with our female whippets pads. Also her chest would get all scuffed from bombing over rough stuff, she’d catch her tail on things, flip over and scrape her head etc. Our male seemed a lot sturdier, he had courser fur and tougher pads

In the end I stopped taking them as they would just get carried away chasing squirrels, rabbits, deer, alpacas (no joke), cows etc. As there were two of them they would get the pack instinct thing and would not give up or come back until they had either caught something or it was well and truly out of sight.

Sorry no useful advice, but fond memories and good to see someone who manages to ride with their whippet

Got a bitch whippet and a great big pain in the arse young lurcher dog. They both get fed Arden Grange Lamb & Rice

    Here’s the deal

    http://www.gjwtitmuss.co.uk/arden-grange-adult-foods/pid5353/cid925/arden-grange-adult-lamb-38-rice-15kg.asp

There’s a little link, 2 x 15kg for 56.98 delivered. This was the best quality/price ratio dog food that I could find

They both love it and are far too healthy for their own good

My 2012 XT shifters are smooth as anything. They feel much nicer than the SLX on my other bike. Maybe they are set-up better, but they do feel superb. I’d say you have a problem. Sorry I can’t point you in the direction of what it might be though

    wilko1999

I’m 99% certain that is the right one. I would check with Onone first though. My forks had a standard 1.1/8″ steerer and I went for a Hope pick’n’mix headset (44mm top, 49mm bottom) in the end. I’m pretty sure the link above is what Onone recommended when I bought my EG.

OP – had the exact problem fitting a stinger to my 2012 EG. I can however confirm that a spacer or two solves the problem. I can’t remember what width they were though, I suggest getting various widths and trying them out. The chainline obviously changed, but didn’t adversely affect anything. I modified my SLX triple to a double at the same time, changing the front mech for the correct SLX double. With a little set-up time everything works perfectly. 7 months down the line and many miles including uplift days and all is well…

…apart from the Monarch losing air quite quickly… need to contact them and see about getting it sorted

Yep, had a basic Giant Defy 4 for about a year to go with my 2 MTBs.

Hardly rode it last year, just a few flat commutes 10 miles either way. Recently been out on it more, including some good long climbs and wow my fitness has improved massively. I now make sure to get out once a week on it, the difference in fitness and stamina is unreal

I don’t get the adrenalin rush of MTBing but still very enjoyable in a different way

The female pregnancy bible ‘What to expect when you’re pregnant’ has a great section at the back for Dads. Has Mrs mrl got that one?

I read that, and then looked for some other books but in the end didn’t bother. Chose to really on instinct and common sense. Most of the time that’s all you need.

Good luck, its so much fun seeing a baby grow up. Mine’s only 1, and she just gets more and more amusing and cute by the day

Rich great choice, I’ve got one and it’s great fun

I’m 6’1 and have a large. With a 70mm stem it’s nearly perfect for me. In fact if I was really splitting hairs I would have liked the frame a little longer. I use it for everything from xc rides, trail centres to full on uplift days

I would def recommend a large, esp if you’re thinking of 50mm or shorter stem

2/3rds of the way down the racetrack, there’s a ‘bus stop’ off to the left which crosses back over the racetrack and heads down a slightly tastier steeper downhill section. Well worth a go, when you get to the end of it, follow the track directly up and to your left and you’re at the end of the racetrack. Easy peasy

Teachers can be a bitch to find as the very top bit never seems to get well worn. There’ll be someone up there you can ask if you struggle

Most people are just avoiding the shrine area, and the bit directly opposite on the other side of the sawmill – rooty hump?. Everything else seems to be fair game again! And it’s pretty much dry up there now, fun in the sun :D

    Everything everyone has mentioned above.

Oh, and replacement of 3 x pet chickens @ £25 each, mercilessly slaughtered whilst their child owners looked on in horror.

Food-wise, Arden Grange Lamb and Rice is good stuff (about on par with James Wellbeloved), and can be bought for £57/30kg delivered from GJW Titmuss online. The 2 chicken killers love it and are very healthy on it
