Neal amazed no-one mentioned that. Smoking relaxes the various ‘sphincter’ valves in the body, including the one between your esophagus and stomach allowing stomach acid to flow back up where it shouldn’t. That was one of the first things the Doctor said when I first went complaining about it

20mg I think jim, but have been having repeat prescriptions for so long I haven’t checked the dose for years

Stu is that a common side-effect of Omeprazole? Might explain a few things, I’ll look into that…

Gunz… been there too. I was telling Mrs Wilko about it last night funnily enough, in your exact words. THE most unpleasant experience of my life. In fact if I had the choice next time, that camera would go in via my jacksy. It was that bad!

Anyway, turns out I have a weak esophagal ‘valve’ which means acid and undigested food can easily pass up to the esophagus. I’m on omeprazole now every day, and I never suffer from heartburn any more. A life-changing pill for me.

My reply was actually worded in a very positive manner, I just didn’t get chance to send it. Why not criticise? If I can help a young ambitious developer succeed before he fails then I’m all for it. I know that if I employed him in my development team based on his CV, and he produced that website, I would be saying ‘back to the drawing board’ and giving him a chance to improve

Okay, weeksy may have been a bit ‘bull in a china shop’ but the sentiment is the same

Damn, I was just replying to the Daniel Groves thread agreeing with weeksy that it really wasn’t very good. He is obviously a capable programmer, but needed some help with artistic ideas, spelling and grammar. Especially as the website was an example of the very thing he was trying to sell.

Yes Float 32 140s can normally be spaced down easily. You should be able to get a decent set second-hand for around 200 sheets and a 10mm travel spacer for a few quid. Thats what I’d do

I know, thats why I added ‘recent’ as well as ‘current’. Much as I’m no big fan of Stoner, it is a shame he has gone

Funny how Motogp has been pretty uninteresting since Rossi hasn’t been doing so well. The sport needs him, or someone like him at the top. Look at the current and recent contenders – Stoner, Lorenzo and Pedrosa – blisteringly quick but about as charismatic and interesting as a sack of spuds. Lorenzo with his attempts at quirky race victory celebrations – give it up sunshine, you might be quick but you’ll never be Rossi. Stoner and all his excuses. Pedrosa just a straight up misery. If you haven’t guessed I’m a big Rossi fan, but I still think I have a point, bias aside

Good option on StevieD’s link. They even cradle your balls apparently, ideal for those really steep rocky descents :D

Well you just heard a report that they’re as grippy as DMR V12s and Wellgo MG1s :D

Can only compare to what I’ve used in the past – DMR V12 mags, and Wellgo MG1’s. The Electrons are on a par with both for grip and seem tough, I’d definitely buy them again

I do this too. Seems like a good way of forcing myself to build up leg strength. Maybe others disagree, but it seems to be working for me. It seems to help psychologically if nothing else sort of like I’ve failed if I have to drop to a granny gear. And I hate failing!

edit : Although it only works if your knees are in tip top condition…

Queen – These are the days of our lives. And definitely Hurt as many mention above. I think its the fact that both Freddie and Johnny didn’t have long to go when they recorded the videos that creates the emotional connection, for me anyway

Yep that’s how I did mine. Put some heli tape or similar on top of the BB where the cable passes over it. The paint rubs away really quick there (if you’re bothered about that sort of thing of course!)

 I’m one of those people, always thought the one to the right was Dowies 2

Yeah its ace fun, just wish I could get back out there before the rain comes back. Fingers crossed for a long dry summer… :|

ah, Bluebell run, if you do the classic Dowies (the one that twists in and out of the gulley), then turn right at the end, climb back up, then left at the top. I only call it that coz thats what it comes up as on…. Strava…. sorry, not sure what its ‘official’ title is

Ha yeah sorry year 2000. We went down there about 11:30, all the ‘off-piste’ classics were quiet as hell. It amazes me how Pedalabikeaway can be so rammed, but as soon as you go more than about 50 foot from the marked stuff its completely dead

No but Dowies, Dr Johns, Y2K, Bluebell run etc was effing brilliant, hope the rain stays away

Recently got some new Hopes and they aren’t that loud compared to others I ride with, and not as loud as my old Halo Supa-drive free-hub either. But they are very slow to pick up, an area the Supa-drives excelled. I’m not convinced yet

Mate of mine quit being a fire-fighter 18 months ago, did a Health and Safety degree and is now a Health and Safety advisor for Crest Nicholson. He is 38 with loads of years left on his mortgage but somehow made it work, quite inspiring really. Really honestly there’s no time like the present, you’re a long time dead, its not a rehearsal etc etc go for it

I’m from Stroud and know just about everywhere there is to ride, but don’t get out that much at the moment unfortunately. Definitely getting in touch with Bigfoot MBC is your best bet to discovering all the stuff around here and they are very welcoming and helpful. There are group rides to suit all abilities and fitness levels too. Check out the website.

Focus ’12 estate here. 3 bikes on boot rack, roof box full of luggage, missus in passenger seat, kids in back, 2 dogs + more kit in boot. Self-catering holidays for the family in country cottages (near great riding areas of course) a piece of cake. Mondeo would be slightly more spacious but Focus more than adequate

I’ve never ‘got’ the colour co-ordinated ‘matching’ anodised/coloured parts look. It dates back to my motorbike days of trick anodised rearsets and ‘matching’ fairing bolt kits etc.

My point being you can try your best to have a colour-theme going but invariably you end up with slightly different shades of the same colour and it just looks like a dogs dinner. In my opinion of course!

Conversely I like a frame colour that stands out, but would always try and offset this with black or silver

One mans cage is another mans stage though eh…

This is what I’m thinking. Really want to try them to replace my aging HRs, but the 2.4s are just that bit too big.

The ASR5 feels really well balanced jumping, but I don’t do big stuff, was just getting a feel for what others had used prior to turning up and being the only guy without a free-ride bike sort of thing! :D

Sounds great, just got to raise the funds now…

I desperately want to do the jumps and drops course but only have an ASR5 now, what bikes did others take for that course?

Give Saturday a miss… its the Wyedean Rally, the trails are officially closed. You can get on them from elsewhere but I wouldn’t recommend it…!

The marked stuff is okay in the wet actually. Blue and red both good fun. The DHs aren’t too technical, if you’ve done Cmwcarn you’ll be fine. In fact lots of people session them on XC bikes to be fair. Couple of bigger drops on the new GBU track but you can go round them easy enough.

Off-piste stuff – so much its unreal if you’re prepared to explore. People still seem to ride them when its muddy, a lot of FOD seems to drain quite well.

I love it there, its an awesome place to ride

    Go Sunday instead!
