I’ve done this numerous times and there’s always some goofy little thing you don’t think of that holds up the build

On top of the above suggestions don’t forget to check rear brake caliper mount, you may need an adaptor.

We didn’t go for any joint account/card/mortgage-related stuff until we got married. So now she can legally shaft me for everything I have and there’s chuff all I can do about it! :D

Luckily I’m more than happy to share everything with her, or I wouldn’t have got married in the first place.

Cougar I think he meant if the tables were turned he’d be the one earning more

But she’s earning the extra 1.5K. So she should proportionally be paying more, if that’s the way they choose to do it.

I think my post at the top of this page sums it up – if the tables were turned would he ask her to do the same?

Would any of the people who have contributed to this thread or their partners ask the same? I doubt it. It’s a bit odd. If it doesn’t sit comfortably with you OP then there’s something not right about it.

Okay, ask yourself this. If the situation was reversed would you ask her to pay you £100/month?

I’d order a new £2400 bike and get her to stump up half :D

Great service from them when I bought a set of SLX brakes. Although have you checked Merlin for 2013 Revs? Some great prices there.

I love reading threads about people living their lives how I want to be living mine. Great stuff, great pics, when the kids are a little older I hope to be exploring the mountains a lot more myself :-)

Was going to say Cwmcarn, just beaten to it. Aren’t they building a long new trail at Afan called Blade or something?

I have M596 Deores on my hardtail and they really are very very good. righogs link to a set for £80 is bl88dy brilliant value.

You could try the first and last sections of this loop leaving out the westerly part (high and exposed moorlands). After Houndtor at Swallerton gate, just carry on up the lane to Heatree cross and finish the loop that way. Wrap up warm and give it a go, weather’s supposed to be far more settled tomorrow. Steady coming down the Nutcracker though :D

EDIT: Only ever ridden this loop in half-decent weather though so can’t say for certain what it’ll be like after 3 weeks of biblical rain!

A terrible-twos toddler and colicky newborn are taking up most of my spare time at the moment, so opportunities to ride are few and far between. Stop moaning and enjoy the ride! I managed a 3 hr XC on New Years Eve after 3 weeks without a ride. It was muddy as hell but I bl88dy enjoyed it. Took 5 mins max to hose the bike off after, kit straight in the washing machine, you’d never have known!

+1 for a really spicy curry. I’m sure it has no physical effect, but I do like a really spicy curry and its a good excuse.

Very entertaining, takes me back to similar days in the late 70s/early 80s careering down muddy banks completely out of control on whatever bikes had been passed down to us from older siblings/friends etc

Wish I bounced like that when I fall off nowadays

Another vote for an El Guapo, I sorely regretted selling mine. However that 575 on eBay would be very tempting I have to admit!

Ah yes I think I remember something like that showing where all the Dowies runs were, Murdocks etc with descriptions. There was a link to it on an old STW thread from a few years back IIRC.

Ignore the ‘don’t go down the business end’ comments! I watched both my childrens heads slowly appear and ‘pop’ out, its an unbelievable sight, an absolute wonder. And it’ll be so long before you next eat sushi from the barber-shop floor that the images of birth will long be forgotten!

Fair enough. One side of the coin is you wouldn’t leave a mate/partner, the other side is a mate/partner wouldn’t expect you to stay with them. Anyway, we’re essentially saying the same thing but in different ways, I just don’t think its fair to call him an a-hole based on very limited information and an obviously sarcastic post :-)

Okay, gender is irrelevant. So if you were that slow rider and had a mate in the fast group, would you expect him to trundle back to the car park with you?

Well he was clearly being sarcastic in his post. My wife certainly wouldn’t mind if I carried on. Some women are actually real people you know capable of continuing to function when their fella’s aren’t around! :D

lol no. But I’m not saying he isn’t a git, just that we don’t know officially whether he is one or not. I guess I’m just far too diplomatic for STW and should stay out of these threads aimed at the more judgemental amongst us! Boyfriends git status to be confirmed… :D

Love how the B/F is now getting some attention. The flames have died down on the group as a whole because the full story has been heard, but you still need something to have a pop at. Right, its the boyfriends turn. You don’t know the conversation that was had between him and her! Maybe he’s not a git! :D

Sounds like there isn’t really a case to answer reading all the posts

Its a difficult situation though as you don’t want to alienate newer riders. However, everything is relative, and one mans moderate is another’s flat out. When I first joined our local club 2 years ago, I went along on an introductory ride thinking I’d cream it but even that was too quick for me! A few months ago, on a ‘medium’ paced 3hr club ride in FoD, a new chap joined us thinking he was of ‘medium’ fitness and ability but was pretty much shot and was struggling with the trails after 15 minutes.

No, its a great move! Buying a new bike is always a great move regardless how big its wheels are. Simple!

I was going to mention a certain life-giving 650B in-joke, but not everyone finds it funny so I decided to refrain… :D

This is my V2 just before I sold it. The only bike I’ve ever regretted selling. Great fun to ride, like a mini dh bike, but pedalled and climbed superbly:

There was a whole thread about the mileage left in the ‘650B trail comes alive’ references, with a cameo appearance from bikeind himself:

    http://singletrackworld.com/forum/topic/makes-whatever-come-alive-banable-offence

Well, it turned into a thread about how much mileage there was left in it, that’s not how it started :-)

I would imagine that something pretty magical happened to the trails whilst you were riding it

If 650B is still around when I need a new frame, I’m hoping to have saved enough for a Bronson C. Unlike some, I definitely feel the need to have an all-singing all-dancing full suss and I’m not ashamed to admit it :D

    Enjoy!

    From Sale of Goods Act:

“Return of goods ordered online, by telephone or by mail order

The retailer’s terms and conditions should say who pays for returning goods. If they don’t, then the retailer has to pay, not the customer.

Retailers may also set out the way they want goods to be returned, but this cannot be unreasonably expensive or difficult”

Surely its irrelevant whether its damaged or will affect performance/longevity. It has a factory defect. That’s just a typical thing for a supplier/manufacturer to say to avoid doing the honourable thing. A car with a paintwork defect in the lacquer is not damaged and won’t affect its performance but you wouldn’t accept it.

Its a steep learning curve that’s for sure but stick at it, its very rewarding when you get a feel for the game. Learn the maps, move from cover to cover quickly. When behind cover and about to move somewhere, take a look around in the distance for any movement that doesn’t have a blue or green arrow over it. Then ‘spot’ (not sure which button that will be on PS4) that enemy and an orange arrow will go over their head highlighting them to all you team-mates. You can ‘spot’ vehicles too. Its a great way to highlight enemies and get extra points. Fire weapons in short bursts for better accuracy. Crouch or go prone and fire for even better accuracy. You can be the best player on a team and not even fire a shot. Play Conquest mode, you can earn stacks of points sneaking between bases and capturing them hidden away somewhere. Try out the different classes. My favourite is engineer. Unlock the different launchers/anti-tank mines and concentrate on just blowing up vehicles if you like. Its immensely satisfying blowing a chopper out of the sky with an RPG-7. There’s so many ways to play the game, its best to experiment. But stick at it, its worth it.
