Unfortunately the replica steering wheel is courtesy of photoshop  incomplete steering wheels are illegal in the UK apparently

Cougar – the interior was pretty much standard although there is a guy in the US that will make a replica dashboard/console complete with KITT recorded sayings etc. my mate was in the process of getting a quote but suddenly got bored with it and sold it on. Good laugh driving round in it watching everyone’s reactions. You sort of felt like a celebrity and a complete tool at the same time :D

Me, next to my mates very own KITT… true story. I made it on to the BBC Radio One website front page thanks to this photo and got an honourary mention on the Colin and Edith show. My life is complete

Doesn’t sound cheap, considering you can get the latest version for 1349 I think. How about this, if you don’t mind buying from ‘Europe’ and need a medium…

Cool I’ll check it out. Hear they’re building a few new ‘official’ DH runs over that way at the moment

Yes, the one in Bath. Food was good, atmosphere was good, staff were good – on the whole – good! I would go again.

cloud that sounds scarily similar to my commute – 12 mile and about 1100ft climb. Except I didn’t stop to help the roadie change his tube (seriously I did go past one fixing a puncture). Legs and mind feel heavy and sleepy (got a 3 mth old baby, so not sleeping much at the mo) but I am determined to do the climb on the way home quicker than ever. I can’t bring myself to take the easier, shorter, flatter route

Not sure of the differences, but he has a point. Does he want to send it back? Why not offer him a bit of money back as a token gesture? Or is he being a tool about it?

Interesting to hear all the feedback, perhaps I won’t bother looking out for a pair! Next option to replace my 5:10 Impacts are Freerider Elements. Nothing wrong with the performance of the Impacts, they are just old, bulky and hold water like the Hoover Dam

Been looking for some for months. Contacted Vans UK online and their response was “we may have some somewhere in stock in one of our stores, so why not give them a call”. They didn’t even offer to check for me. Let me know if you find any, I need a size 10 :-)

LoCo stop posting on STW and answer the phone :D

Not sure its snobbery as such, but there does seem to be an ‘STW approved’ set of manufacturers and components

Clobber are you talking 29 or 26? No experience of 29, but a 26 storm control is much bigger than a 26 beaver. I have both, tried on the same rims. I agree about performance though, prefer the beaver for all round winter riding

I’ve used both extensively and they’re both brilliant winter tyres. I have settled on the Beavers though as I find they are better all-rounders than the Storms, coping very well with roots and rocks, although probably not quite as good in deep mud, but not far off.

I’d air on the side of do it yourself too. The fence at the end of our garden blew down twice over Christmas. The first time it was late at night and I needed to let the dogs out for a slash so I did a quick bodge job on it. The second time I couldn’t even be bothered to go through the process of finding out who’s it was, talking to the guy the other side, agreeing who’d do and pay for what etc I just got on and did it. I’d hoped he would come round and maybe say thanks, but he never did. But hey I learnt how to put up a fence that day, my dogs were contained and no local cats lost their lives so it was worth doing :-)

I’m looking around for the same sort of thing right now. My shortlist is Vans Gravel and Fiveten Freerider Elements. However, try finding Vans Gravels anywhere (in a size 10 that is). No chance, anyone got any ideas :-)?

Great buy Neil and an amazing bike. And I paid nearly that for a second-hand 3 year old one last year :( gutted

I did the exact conversion you are considering.

Going to a 36T ring does make the shift a little clunkier with a standard triple mech. You can fiddle around with the mech position and adjustment to make it smoother though. When I replaced my triple mech eventually I got a double specific SLX front mech, it has a different swinging arc (?) that is more suitable for the jump between 22 and 36 tooth rings.

Fitted a C4 ring god (as offered above) too, it comes with longer bolts. The 44T ring comes off and the ring god goes on, simple as that, no crank removal necessary. Also fitted a stinger that worked very well, although as mentioned above not absolutely necessary.

I’d take up thejesmonds offer, bargain way of trying it out

MSP you don’t happen to have a pair of Vans Gravels do you that you tried for a month, didn’t like and then stuck in the cellar. Size 10 or 11? Just on the off-chance :-)

I’m a big girl when it comes to shoes, I’ve got stacks. I couldn’t even begin to list them (but I’ll do an overview) : mostly trainers – loads of Nike Air and Jordan variants throughout the years, numerous Etnies skate shoes, different versions of Vans, Adidas shell-toes. Magnum army boots, Timberland boots, CAT boots. Five ten Impact lo’s for riding. There’s more but that’ll do for now

EDIT: Wish I could find some Vans Gravels to add to the list, fed up with my monstrously chunky Five Tens that hold more water than the Hoover Dam

“Some blame in the court case must lie with the CPS in not pursuing a charge with which they can achieve a guilty verdict”

This, definitely. The jury were led down an alley. A crap comparison would be in rugby when they go to the TMO when a try is in doubt. The ref asks “can you see any reason not to award a try”, the TMO answers no, and the try is given. Doesn’t mean that it was a try though. It’s the wording of the question.

I’m guessing there wasn’t really a suitable charge available. Something like “causing death by knocking someone off their bicycle” should do it.

Inchbrook you’re still better off heading towards Nailsworth and taking one of the A46 routes or as someone else suggested Horsley, Wotton-Under-Edge and down onto M5 J14. Heading towards Stroud is going to add quite a bit to your journey time. Still can’t comment on the Brizzle end though :-)

Have you ridden Standish/Randwick/Stockend Woods or Selsley? Stinchcombe Woods? We head out to FoD quite a lot and ride off-piste stuff out there if you fancied tagging along some time

If its actually Nailsworth, best to head down the A46 I would say, then either 1) M4/M32 or 2) carry on over M4 then cut down A420 through Wick in towards the Kingswood area of Bristol. If Stroud then yes M5 into Almondsbury or Bradley Stoke. Sorry can’t comment on parking and cycling into the centre as never tried to do that.

EDIT: Yes, welcome to Stroud by the way :-)

I went through the same thought process before getting my dropper. I wanted a layback so went for a KS Dropzone. (cheap from Hibike btw)

I didn’t really want an extra cable and remote on my bars either so I thought I’d give it a go without and see how I got on. If I was struggling I could always add a remote at a later date. So far I’ve got on fine with the lever, its dead easy once you’ve had a few goes at it. I can see the benefits of a remote and I might try one yet, but so far I’ve been very happy with 1)just having a lever and 2)the KS Dropzone itself

Sounds a little iffy no doubt on a number of levels. If nothing else why would she be buying a car straight after surgery when she is homebound? She obviously won’t be able to use it, so:

    1) It may be for someone else
    2) She must think your car is absolutely amazing and simply has to have it so that it is ready for her as soon as she’s able to drive again

Wouldn’t you just go looking for a car when you were able to?

Hmmm not sure, but I’m a hell of a cynic

Sorry massive thread hijack – LoCo, how long do you take to phone back when someone submits a fork service form on the website? Not complaining by the way, just wondering, sent one in yesterday. Also do you have service kits for Monarch 3.3’s? Thanks :D

That or Hope have realised they can get their own branded rims made cheaper than they buy them from Stans, and then sell them off the back of their reputation for customer service, product quality and general all round British-ness (even though they won’t be made in Britain)

Anyway why are we going into massive detail about Jet Li’s supposed level of badass-ness? The question was which out of Jackie or Bruce, to which there is an obvious answer – Arnold Schwarzenegger

    wilko1999

Project A is so funny. Classic film. That Jackie era was great – Wheels on Meals, Armour of God, Police Story etc. Classics. Bruce was still the worst-ass though

    wilko1999

I’m a huge Jackie fan, but Bruce has to be the worst-ass(?)

EDIT : Bruce will tear you apart with a set of Nunchuks, while Jackie is more likely to throw a wicker basket at you and then get stuck in a set of folding aluminium steps :D

Before even clicking on the thread, I knew the Multipla would be either the main subject, or mentioned very shortly afterwards. It looks like Homer Simpson designed it!
