Yeah a race, what better way to christen a new bike. How about an enduro, they’re good value 😀

A friend of mine in Frodsham runs a small business scanning old photos, turning old videos into DVDs etc. Any use? Not sure about the shredding though!

No that’s your rebound – that controls how fast the forks extend back to full length after getting compressed. The compression should be the blue dial on top of the right fork leg. Wind it fully clockwise and it gives you a lockout of sorts. Unwind fully anti-clockwise for no additional compression damping. Have a play with it, I’ve ended up with mine halfway between open and closed unless I want it locked.

The RC has 13 clicks of compression adjustment too, although can’t comment on its subtlety as haven’t fitted them yet. For the record there’s something like 20 clicks of rebound

Got a set of 160’s for my Blur LTc. Great service from Alltricks, ordered 4PM Tuesday and they turned up Thursday at 9AM.

Interested in the divey on steep stuff comment, first time out on them is going to be an uplift day in FoD. Want to get them set up quickly so I can just enjoy the runs without having to fiddle around

While that’s true to some extent, there’s the track walks, followed by practice runs to figure out their lines. I’m fairly confident he wouldn’t hit those lines on his first pootle down

Yeah, it’s just blokes that do things like that 🙄 We were over the local children’s playground last weekend with our 3 year old girl and 9 month old boy. My wife needed a pee so had one behind the tump that the zip-wire starts on.

Great run, some of that track looks a little ‘interesting’. I think it’d take me most of the afternoon to pick my way down the top half 😀

UPDATE: I spoke to the coach about consecutive sessions and he was fine, so I’m doing 9-10, followed by my mate at 10-11, and we’ll both watch each others sessions 🙂 also, the park doesn’t open until 11 on that Saturday, so we’ll both have the place to ourselves. Result, great idea Bregante on the off-chance you’re reading this 🙂

Turns out Pikes were predictably the correct answer, ordered a pair from Alltricks. Not as cheap as on the PSA a few weeks ago, but still only £390 for the 160mm versions 🙂 Thanks for the suggestions etc.

    😀

I’m gonna get the Fox’s now just to go against the grain 😉

The Pikes do seem to have become a universal STW approved component, but can they really be that good? I used to love my old 36 RC2 talas, my only complaint was they were divey under braking regardless of how I set them up, how do the Pikes perform in this respect?

Yes, sorry Rick should have mentioned the Fox 36 at JEJames for £399 are Talas so have the adjustable travel, albeit 160 or 120, so would only ever be used for steep climbs probably. Leaning towards the Pike as more of an all rounder but the price for the Fox 36s is pretty attractive.

Hey bregante that’s actually a very good idea…

rone I agree with everything you said. Its my mate that’s getting his pants in a plait. I’m going whether its just me or both of us. I asked about pricing for two vs one prior to signing us up and he was firm on the £30 each, but as people have said he’s free to charge what he wants, whether it makes good business sense or not. Hence why I asked for stray opinions. More to gauge if my mate was being a tool or not really by digging his heels in and not coming.

I understand why he would think he’d get better vfm one on one, but I honestly believe he’ll gain more from it if we do it together.

Thanks for your opinions anyway people, thats all I wanted really 😀

Thing is, fundamentally I agree with my mate. The coach doesn’t have the shrewdest business model (been watching Dragons Den) in all honesty.

However I would rather do the session with him, I really don’t think he’ll get much more out of it, if anything by doing it on his own. We are both about the same standard, want to improve on the same things etc. I just think it’ll be a more enjoyable hour. Plus it’s booked for a time when we will have the entire park to ourselves.

qwerty, how did you find the coaching out of interest?

😆 it is definitely just a session for the two of us. Or one as its now looking like

Always the washing machine in our house. To the point that our 3 year old daughter was caught helping our 9 month old son get into it last week

I hate to ask this, but can you climb? If yes, then it’s probably safe to say the kili flyer wont really hold you back much.

Um, allows you to hear them through lots of walls in a big house? Allows you to go into your workshop in the evening? To name a couple off the bat. Things have changed easygirl, welcome to the noughties 😀

We have one of these :

Great range and survived a glass of water spilled on it by a very tired parent. Works down the garden in my workshop (and possibly in the pub opposite our house, citation required)

Started running after a few years of my only significant exercise being cycling. Like you I played rugby prior to that for years. I’m an all or nothing sort of character (rightly or wrongly) and thought 5 miles would be a piece of cake, and managed it okay including a fairly decent hill, however as others have said I was then crippled for at least a week. Good god the pain in my calves, I could barely climb the stairs. However you go about it, beware of being a complete tool like me and overdoing it 😀

Ah, that Hoffman Ontic now looks like the better option, go for that one! Worth pointing out that you may have to do a bit of construction if you order from Winstanleys. That’s where I got mine a few months back and there was a lot left to put together. Especially if you are going to fit both brakes, they can be quite a fiddle. Can’t complain though with such big discounts really.

Go for it! I recently got my first BMX at 39 (never had one as a kid) and its brilliant. I ride at Rush indoor skatepark a lot, but also have a BMX/pump track near where I work and a couple of little concrete skateparks too, so I very often pop out on it for 45 mins at lunchtime. Amazing fun, I can’t get enough, I ride it a lot more than my MTBs now. That United looks good, I doubt you’ll do much better for £150. Stop thinking and start buying 😀

Listen, and understand. That terminator is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

Reminds me of an old supposedly real newspaper headline: “Prostitutes appeal to Pope”

It probably isn’t real but its still funny

On topic, he was bound to appeal I guess, at 84 he’s going to do anything to not spend his last years incarcerated, regardless of what he’s done

Last night – 8 month old baby woke me at 10:30, 11 then 12. Half 12, dog was barking went down into dark kitchen and trod in a pile of puke. Find 3 more pukes, clear them up. Dog puking as quick as I can clean them up, Went back to bed at 1. Half 1 dog barking again for a repeat puke and clear session. Back to bed at 2. 2:30 8 month old baby boy awake again. Back to bed at 3. Half 3 finally my wife wakes (who can sleep through an earthquake) she goes to feed woken baby boy and traps a nerve in her neck – wife and baby both screaming. 3 year old daughter wakes. Dog barking again. half four everyone is settled again, apart from I’m massaging wifes sore neck and shoulders as she dozes off. Back to sleep at 5, baby boy awake at 5:20 to start the day. Walk pukey dog, come to work. Sit here in a grump all day.

Still, 2 hours of BMXing at Rush Indoor Skatepark tonight if I can keep my bl**dy eyes open

Fingers crossed for Manon, I think she can do it, she seems to have discovered more self-belief this year and a winning mentality. She also seems a more humble and likeable character. Plus she’s rather cute 😉

It will do the job. I’ve used a pipe cutter for bars, seatposts and steerer tubes in the past. Just beware they may, but not definitely, leave some small marks. And don’t forget to deburr!

    Looks superb Weeksy

Not quite a Tuono but I had three RSVs in total. Two were the original shape ie single-side exhaust, and also an RSV Factory on which your Tuono is obviously based. Amazing track bikes, did numerous trackdays including laps of the Nordschleife. The Tuono will be equally as amazing on the track. Although Mallory on my RSV-R was a painful experience, a super-moto would have been far more enjoyable around there.

That’s brilliant! Wish I’d known about it 🙁

You’ll have a blast on the FoD uplift. Loads of different marked and un-marked runs and ways of linking them together. Bone dry, superfast free uplift day. I’m not at all jealous

Never heard of this until I saw this post. Just looked it up, so if I’m understanding it correctly, you’re getting a free uplift day at FoD this Sunday?
