Speeder whaddya mean ’80s’ BMX? Skinwalls still look cool and loads of the guys down the park run them 😀

Never on anything other than a BMX though, in my opinion!

I’m a lifelong lover of Hip Hop, since the days of Doug E Fresh’s ‘The Show’, Jazzy Jeff Live at Union Square etc. but didn’t like the direction it went in the early 90’s and lost faith a little. Recently been listening to the following and they’ve seriously helped restore my love 🙂

I really want to ride this track, my local BMX track is piddly in comparison. Looks like you had a blast. To the guys who struggled to sleep after, I get that every time I ride my BMX in the evening, whether its on the track or at our local big indoor skatepark. I find a couple of whiskys helps. And a couple afterwards too 😉 The buzz and adrenalin build up is unreal and addictive.

You’ll need a new Reverb for an ASR5 too, they’re 30.9. Amazing bike though, for the amount you’re going to spend there’s no point limiting your choice based on the seat tube diameter, in my opinion!

EDIT how about a Blur TR or TRc? Same issue with the seat tube mind as they’re also 30.9

Can’t remember what my wife was like before we had kids, in fact I cant even remember what my life was like before we had kids and its only been 3.5 years. I’ve chosen to forget 😀

The other side of the ‘back-up’ bottle feeding scenario is that after a few months of solely having boob, your baby may not be even slightly interested in taking a bottle. Our first wouldn’t have a bottle, in fact offering it to her in the middle of the night resulted in an ever increasing crescendo of blood-curdling screams. And that was from me! She was even louder.

Alex, Kens van is turning legendary around Glawwsster. He always gives me a free mug of coffee while I wait and a free big bottle of full fat coke when the order goes over a tenner. I’ve yet to try the ‘Cheesy Pig’ that he has on his menu though 😯

Bjorns are great and so easy to put on but they don’t last long. Especially if you have unusually large babies.

Just had a bacon, sausage, egg and mushroom 1/2 baguette from Kens burger van on the A38 just south of Gloucester. Don’t let the 1/2 baguette fool you, the full length baguette is at least 3ft long. 6 rashers of bacon, 4 sausages, 3 fried eggs and a pint glass full of mushrooms for £3.50. Seriously its proper Man V Food territory.

Do you have friends/family with slightly older children? If so you will be inundated with clothes that no longer fit theirs. We barely had to buy any clothes for our 3.5 year old daughter as I have a 5 year old niece. And now we’ve barely had to buy anything for our 1 year old son as I have a 3 year old nephew.

As mentioned above NCT sales are an absolute goldmine if you can find one, get there early as its a bit of a free-for-all when the doors open. In fact if you’re an NCT member you can get in before the doors open to joe public.

Friends on facebook are always selling bundles of clothes too, keep an eye out on there and other social network sites

Don’t get lured into buying impractical stuff coz you think its cool like what I did. eg I bought my daughter some awesome pink Chuck Taylors that turned out to be an absolute arse to get on and off, she wore them once, got them dirty and then never wore them again. £35 down the pan 🙂

The charger that came with my Solarstorm X2 has a CE mark and a UL Listed mark too. There is absolutely no way it is UL Listed, and I wouldn’t plug it in in my house. Luckily I have a suitable charger that came with my V2 XML from mtbbatteries. The Solarstorm X2 battery is adequate, but only that.

For the record Sui as I’m not sure if you think that is my opinion, I was just pointing out the Ofsted report had been misquoted. I wasn’t offering an opinion 🙂

    wilko1999

Actually the report isn’t saying the school should have more pupils from an ethnically diverse background (or whatever PC phrase I should be using). It’s saying that because the majority are white British that the school should create opportunities for the white British kids to interact with kids from other backgrounds. Sensational newspaper reporting designed to raise hackles.

That or they could paint some of the kids up like the Black and White Minstrels on the day the Ofsted inspector comes round

Got a pair of those 2.35 Toros from CRC for 20.49 each, and they are definitely more like a 2.2, if that. However they’re excellent tyres fast enough and provide loads of grip in a wide variety of conditions including wet mud. They seem to clear well too, I’m very happy with them.

Sounds awesome, wish I didn’t live so far away. Just spent this evening at Rush Indoor Skatepark on my BMX in Stroud. Have a blast!

Our whippet is 5 and she hasn’t even considered giving it up yet.

Our Lurcher is 4 and he prefers to eat rotting carcasses, and roll in them. He also eats cat poo. Once, he ate a big pile of our cats poo from the garden, came in and puked it up by my feet. I headed out into the kitchen to get cleaning products, by the time I’d got back into the lounge he’d eaten it again.

I wouldn’t worry about brushless upgrades now, just buy the kits, build and enjoy for the time being. If you are going to upgrade anything, the first thing would be proper bearings instead of the plastic bushes the kits normally get.

As for building, if you’re inexperienced I would say do at least one of them before and have it ready to use on Christmas day.

I always used stick controllers, never got on with steering wheels, but there’s not really any advantages, it’s just whatever you’re used to. You’ll have just as much fun either way. Maybe a youngster might find a steering wheel and trigger a little easier to get the hang of? Not sure, just speculating there!

EDIT: Toppers beat me to the punch there on pretty much everything I said!

Things are definitely funnier with the right kind of mind-bending mary-jane. I once watched Notting Hill after eating some homemade hash cherry fudge and thought it was the funniest film I’d ever seen. However watching it straight a few months after confirmed it was just the drugs talking.

More on topic I still find Life of Brian hilarious, sober as a judge, after watching it god-knows-how many times.

Just been for a blast down the local BMX track during my lunch hour and despite mentioning a 456 earlier in the thread I now concur with some of the others – keep the mmmbop and get a BMX. They’re amazing fun and I can’t imagine enjoying it anywhere near as much on a 26″ wheeled bike.

Mate of mine runs a 1×10 456 for general trail use, drops the saddle and then races it in national 4X rounds.

    May and Rokoduguni start ❓

Considering the injuries, that’s not a bad 1 – 10, and Barritt and Brown are solid, I don’t fancy our chances of winning, but I don’t think we’ll be far behind. Not happy with the wings though, especially May, and that’s coming from a Gloucester fan through and through.

Some good optimism there, and much as I’d like to think we are in with a good chance I think our tight five is going to struggle. So many frontline players injured. Without wanting to sound like a stuck-in-the-groove rugby pundit I think without that foundation its going to be an uphill slog – struggling to get clean ball, feeding off scraps etc. I hope I’m wrong 🙂

Something to be aware of is that a lot of turbo trainers aren’t suitable for 29er MTBs. Looking at your photo above it looks like you’re only going to use road bikes which will be fine, but worth pointing out. I went for one of these, purely so that I could use my 29er with it.

    http://www.pedal-pedal.co.uk/elite-novo-force-mag-trainer.html?gclid=CjwKEAiAj-KiBRC48YzhnLSg0D0SJAClOhK3fnhfhxa92acBoXTccFGJThcPNB0Nu2iaU-HFrtVeJxoCMK_w_wcB

Its a good bit of kit, quiet and smooth, easy to use and 5 good levels of resistance. Coupled with your gears it’ll have you crying with pain and boredom if you so desire 😀

Your initial post dbcooper did sound a little ‘we did it the right way, the rest of you are doing it wrong and just conforming to a forced ideal like sheep’

Your last post was a lot more diplomatic and explained things better 🙂

I think that none of us fathers though can understand the mothers need to comfort her child, we love our children all the same but are wired differently. My wife is very much ‘Aaah don’t climb on that chair’ to our 11 mth son, whereas I’m more ‘Go for it, he’ll be fine’ but will be there to catch him if he falls. Its all about balance. No pun intended. 🙂

‘Short sharp riding fun’ – couldn’t agree more. I spend a couple of lunchtimes a week riding my local BMX track and its absolutely exhausting but an intense hit of sprinting, pumping and jumping fun condensed into an hour.

Really? I’m 40 and got my first BMX 4 months ago, bl88dy great fun, I ride it more than my MTBs now. I’m fitter faster and have learnt to jump properly since getting it, what’s not to like??

We got a Stomp Stompee for our kids as mentioned a few posts back. Its great, not expensive, light and the brake works. Skids are for kids and my 3yr old daughter loves getting sideways 🙂
