900 for the Spearfish is very appealing, I just don’t have that sort of spare cash unfortunately at the moment. If the Anthem had been new, and a size large, I may well have pulled the proverbial trigger!

Oh yeah, that’s with flatoutcycles, although it is a used frame, with a few chips and small dents apparently.

To confirm, mineral oil is hydrophobic – it does not draw in moisture. Buy as big a bottle as you want and leave the lid off if you like. One of the big advantages over DOT fluids.

Have you seen any Anthem 29er framesets for sale YoKaiser? New or used

I changed both of my MTBs to 165mm. I am 6’1 but with short legs/long torso. I’ve had bad knees in the past and going from 175 to 165 has made a big difference. Shorter cranks are supposed to benefit the short of leg.

In terms of power, the only time I have noticed is on a very steep climb, with tired legs, pedalling in bottom gear. Any other time you just change gear accordingly.

Some of the text is exactly the same as on the ebay advert too. So its either the same bike, or as Bob says he’s pinched the picture, and some of the text for a fake ad on here. Considering he calls himself Mark on here, the phone number links to Kev via Google searches, and the ebay account is Happy-Biking, with Garyh7460 on the logo, its not looking too clever.

Thanks Mark appreciate that. Hopefully one will come up nearer the event. Gutted I missed the entry, I’d been up all night trying to calm a very sick 14 month old boy and totally forgot about it

Pilates is a surprisingly good answer. My GP actually recommended Pilates after I’d undergone scans/x-rays on my back and they found nothing (you should also get yourself checked out by an expert of course). I thought it was a right cop-out of a suggestion, but I thought I’d give it a go none-the-less. The improvement was noticeable after only one session. 3 or 4 more and my back problems were a dwindling memory

Another one in the same boat, although I’m really struggling to part with my Scandal. Top of my list currently is an Anthem, all the bits on my Scandal are still in great nick, so I’d just swap them over. I have a pair of road wheels/tyres though that I put on the Scandal and it does a respectable job of passing for a road/hybrid bike, I would miss that with the Anthem.

I’ll offer my experience on ITB problems, even though it could be completely different from yours. Mine (as with many cases apparently) is down to inflexibility in my right hip/buttocks. Stretching of the hips/glutes/tfl area is key to managing it, along with carefully managing recovery from any flare-ups ie. very steadily increase exercise duration and intensity

What a joke. They could have arrived at a very similar conclusion with a stopwatch 😀

EDIT. Anyway, hasn’t the proverbial horse well and truly bolted already on this topic?

I used to get the train to London once or twice a week for work. When I stepped off the train in Paddington it was like I was walking in a dreamy surreal slow motion down the platform, with everyone stomping past in an enormous hurry to get to the next queue. I don’t know why the world is in such a hurry, but I’m glad I don’t live in London, I just couldn’t keep up with the pace of life 😀

Yeah fair enough (not that I would have done the same as I’m a distrusting misery) was just checking I’d read things correctly

Viz comic called them Not Foodles, I tend to agree although I find the Curry flavoured ones alright.

Anthem 29ers are great. I had the 26er, it was fast and fun, I really miss it. The maestro suspension was brilliant in all situations. Rode an Anthem 29er and it felt even faster and funner. I’ll be getting one when I decide to change my Scandal 29er.

Good and bad points with both, depends what I’m selling I guess. Gumtree edges it for me though coz it’s free innit 😀

EDIT: answering the title of the thread – Ebay

Considering one of these myself. Reading up it seems the rusting problem only occurred on the earlier RHD versions manufactured in India. They are all now manufactured in Romania (where only the LHD versions used to be made) and the problem has gone away. For the price, I don’t think you will do any better on a new car, the 4×4 Laureate that you are considering is something like 15.5K, which is amazing value compared to everything else new on the road.

Not sure, think X7 is approximately equivalent to Deore. It’ll be absolutely fine though, and when it finally wears out or breaks he can upgrade to whatever he wants at that point.

    Is it a BMX? 😀

6’1 on a 21″ tt. One of my BMX riding buddies is 6’2 on a 21″ tt. We ride at indoor and outdoor parks, and BMX tracks. Long tt or not a 20″ wheeled BMX is going to feel small, you’ll be fine on a 21″. If the price is too good to miss, then just get it asap, you’ll have a blast, they’re amazing fun 😀

The only time it feels twitchy is when I’ve been out for a long XC ride on the 29er on a Sunday, then hit the BMX track on a Monday – what a contrast, normally results in a few wobbly moments and landings on the first lap but you very quickly adjust

If he could stretch another 250 (you did say ‘budget around 1250’) then how about a brand new Mega TR275:

Surprised how many people are saying flats. Thought I was the only one! Flats for everything – my fitness and ability are what hold me back – not the type of shoes I wear 🙂

The ‘choosing a family holiday’ one rings particularly true with me 😳

The real skill comes in making my wife believe it was her choice, and then me ‘searching around’ for anywhere I might be able to ride my bike nearby, should we have room to take it 😀

They’re one of the easiest vehicles in the world to nick and are dead easy to sell, so I’m told. I used to remove the rotor arm out of my series III lightweight whenever I parked it anywhere other than my garage. Not that anyone would have wanted to steal it mind
