Always sticks like glue for me. Roughing up the rim surface helps and is recommended by Stans. Thoroughly clean after and finish with a wipe over with isopropoyl alcohol.

It does have some cool/creepy stories though. I won’t spoil anything for the uninitiated but I really enjoyed the Museum Of Witchcraft in Salem, The Silver Shroud and Pickman’s Gallery to name three but there are plenty more. I do agree though that the quests are in general probably a little less interesting on the whole than Fallout 3 but still good.

Its definitely hugely beneficial to upgrade at least a few weapons. You could introduce yourself to this part of the game once you master the basics and level up a bit. The more I’ve played it the more I’ve experimented with the different elements of game-play including crafting, cooking etc and it really helps and adds something to the game.

Haven’t used the gamma pistol at all. My main pistol is the upgraded Deliverer. Also got the unique shotgun Les Fusil Terribles – good base damage (also massively upgradeable), +25% damage and +25% limb damage and importantly a 32 round drum mag for just mowing hoards of enemies down.

Haven’t found the Cheers bar yet, but Salem was pretty cool along with the Museum of Witchcraft

Also investing in the scrapper perk makes it far easier to stock up on screws – scrap all the rubbish weapons that raiders etc drop and you end up with stacks of them. Also collect any meat/remains of animals you encounter and kill, they almost always are ingredients you can use for cooking all kinds of non-radiated food with great health benefits and very often have stat boosts too.

Also, playing Fallout 3 and NV in the past I heavily relied on the VATS system, but this time I rarely use it at all. It’s good now and again and to use the criticals but the shooting seems pretty good without it now which I’m very pleased about 🙂

Completely hooked on this now. I’m level 24, at 25 I get the next level of gun nut perk that gives me access to more powerful gun mods. I wouldn’t get too carried away with the strength skill unless you build a melee character and want to carry shed-loads of stuff. Once you get a companion you can use them to carry stuff for you anyway, even dogmeat can carry stuff. I’ve based myself in Sanctuary, and I head back there regularly to store loot/junk in the workbenches, mod weapons and armor and cook stuff. Found some amazing weapons – Deliverer, Fusil Terrible, Reba 2, Kellogs pistol – used the latter to drop a legendary alpha deathclaw quite easily (with the help of a nuka quantum) I love this game 😀

EDIT : as others said, I never use power armour

Nice one, they didn’t have them a couple of days ago.

No ade, I waited until the evening to try to place my order and they were already showing as out of stock. However I’ve ordered tyres before from them and they arrived within 3 days so they’ve been good in the past. Also just ordered some DT Swiss squorx nipples and comp DB spokes that were showing as in stock, hope that works out okay!

Thanks again Ben, good shout on the super comps. Going to get a few quotes to have them rebuilt I think. I can repair and do a bit of truing but a complete wheel-build could get me in all sorts of trouble 🙂

Next dilemma (if I decide not to rebuild with 2/1.8/2) – where to buy 1.8mm PG black spokes at 272mm length?

Thanks very much Ben. I’m toying with the idea of checking they have the PHR washers and just getting some 1.8mm spokes and rebuilding as is. I am a little concerned though as I’ve been known to land a little heavily once in a while on road gaps etc and I really want to have that peace of mind.

I agree with you and matty that the snapping of the spokes isn’t related to the diameter, I was just unlucky that the mech took them out. I just mentioned it above as that’s what prompted me to replace them and hence how I noticed.

Try and do things on the cheap and you end up spending more in the long run! Should have just used Merlin or Moonglu 🙁

He removed them from a brand new bike (I think), so an OEM wheelset. The DT Swiss logo has a grey surround as opposed to red. I’m going to drop him a line in a bit just to see if he has any more information. So if I get some 2mm squorx nipples and double butted spokes, do I definitely need the PHR washers too?

EDIT: Just downloaded the DT Swiss user manual and it clearly states to include PHR washers so I’ve fielded that question myself 😉

Thanks for the info. They do have squorx nipples, with the integrated threadlock but for 1.8mm spokes. Not sure if they have washers though, although if they have squorx nipples I guess they will. I’ll check later. I feel they should be 2/1.8/2 double-butted though as you say

Seriously just go for it, it doesn’t have to be permanent. As mentioned above its not a lot of money for quite a change but its easy to change back. I fitted the ones from the offsetbushings website above to my Blur LTc and it made a noticeable difference to stability and inspired more confidence on steep stuff, albeit at the expense of a few more pedal strikes.

    Ha, Smudger!

Similar – sat in Starbucks and a portly chap walks past our table and my 3 year old daughter points at him and says loudly ‘that man’s got a baby in his tummy Daddy’

Taking curtains down at 1am after our daughter projectile poo’d all up them whilst getting a nappy change. She was about 2 months old and did this 3 or 4 times. No-one ever tells you about projectile poo before you have a baby. And then when you mention it to people already with children after the event, they say ‘oh yeah, didn’t anyone tell you about that?’

Just been over to lead an off-piste club ride, the trails are frozen and fast! However my mech failed after about 100 yards taking out spokes, puncturing tubeless rim tape etc so I’m home already feeling exceptionally pee’d off 🙁

A lot of the FoD dh tracks are far more woodsy traditional rooty dh stuff than BPW so they don’t hold up as well. They’re still fine though, and great fun – I’m off there tomorrow, as most weekends. Just BPW is all armoured new-fangled trail centre style runs. FoD you’ll probably be needing some chunky winter tyres of some sort!

Groundhog day. Thought it odd though that Total Womens Cycling chose to show 3 images in their complaint article.

Every time my wife brings up the subject of a third child, and I start to think that it might be a good idea, I read threads like this 🙂 Our second is just over two now, but since he was born its been the toughest two years of my life, his sleeping habits have been horrendous. Things are starting to settle down nicely now though, and he is such an awesome little chap I wouldn’t have things any other way. However, never ever again.

My M8000s were exhibiting the same issue. Tried multiple bleeds, fiddling with the bite point etc. Earlier today I took out the wheels and gently squeezed the lever a few times until the pads moved closer together (but not too close, obviously!). Put the wheels back in, re-aligned the calipers and the problem seems to have gone. Bite point consistent with no pump up. I’m going to reserve judgement until a proper trail ride in FoD on Saturday morning though.

That was my first thought before I wrote the reply about the different axle to crown lengths. So basically they state it will be absolutely no greater than 67 degrees but could be as low as 66 degrees, depending on manufacturing variance

Maybe it refers to the fact that the head angle could change depending on which build you go for ie depending on which fork is fitted – different axle to crown lengths?

Sad news indeed. I saw about this in the News and Journal, didn’t catch a name though and didn’t think it would be someone from the forum. RIP and condolences to his family and friends.

Having mentioned above that I don’t have the time to get absorbed into this game, I seem to be finding the time to get absorbed in Fallout 4. On paper The Witcher 3 is better in most ways but I am enjoying Fallout 4 far more. I think it might just come down to the fact I enjoy shooting stuff more than hacking and slashing.

Montgomery FoD is ram-packed full of off-piste quality single track, the trail centre stuff is the tip of the iceberg. Finding it all and linking it up is the hard bit
