Had one repaired on the NHS in October. Pain in the arse.. and stomach. Had it for a few years but was getting worse, visited my GP and was referred and under the knife in 2 months. Didn’t use the mesh, just stitched it and now I have an innie with a smiley above. 8 weeks later, 10kg heavier, I was back on the bike.

Hi Tom, so I was googling MTB clubs in Ilkley/Otley area and found a thread on here that you started two years ago. The thread was closed, so thought I’d comment on this more recent thread to see if you managed to find a group? I’m Wharfedale based and ride regularly around Ilkley/Otley etc.. Drop us an email (email in profile) if you want to get out sometime locally. Cheers, Matt

keen to follow this thread to see what people are wearing.. Recently picked up some Five Ten Impact Lows thinking they looked fairly sturdy and the leather will keep out the Yorkshire damp!

On receiving them – they are huge with a hell of alot of material, they will be a b1tch to dry out!!

Need something suitable for AM/trail riding. The Specialized F2O shoes look like an option if you venture away from Five Ten

really lost the bug for biking this year and haven’t been on the forum for over 6 months. Loved your write up last year, and to be honest, that’s why I logged in now, looking for this years write up! Well impressed and it’s certainly motivated me to get out on the bike again!! Thanks

    Here’s my 2014 edit 🙂

Have a look at allthegearnoidea.net or search atgni on facebook.

York based riding group that tend to get out on the North Yorks Moors and loads of other places. I’ve ridden with them plenty of times, a good group with a real mixture of riders (from XC, trail centre heroes and bigger mountain shredders).

Worth a punt if your local 🙂

I’d say Skiddaw if you want a mountain. Or up and over the Dodds. Failing that, the Loughrigg route from Ambleside is nice and easy with good views (although you wont be up a mountain).

    Have fun!

Buddy Lodge on Ko San Road. Right in the hustle and bustle of things in the centre of Bangkok. One of the nicer in hotels in the area and its not pricey. Its a 25 minute taxi ride to the airport, but thats not expensive either. Most of Bangkok attractions are accessible from Ko San too.

Hmm.. Best move away from my X2 currently charging in next to me!

Had X2s on my nuke mega. Seemed powerful enough! Lighter than other hopes too (I think). I prefer normal hoses over braided ones as they were a nightmare to bleed. Couldnt ever seem to stop them feeling spongy compared to non braided hoses.

Just had a look on the Halfords website and they seem to stock pretty much every Hope product, and they all look cheaper than the majority other retailers :/

Saw a attractive young blonde lass on an orange RX9 in hebden bridge last weekend. Calderdale seems to be the place to be!

Aaah yea, seen their videos. I recognise alot of the trails from their videos from riding around hebden, but they do seem to have a hell of alot of local knowledge! Quite envious of their riding too!

I love my ragley blue pig. Can handle anything I throw at it. Just remember to remove the seat post after rides over winter. Last year the steel frame bonded to the alu post and was a nightmare to get out!

Nan Beild down to Haweswater (without diverting off the path) is pretty techy!! otherwise, last weekends epic starting at Seathwaite, riding up honister pass to buttermere, then over to black sail, then over to Wasdale and back over to Seatoller. 4 passes, 16 miles, 6000ft. EPIC!! That was 9 hours that broke me (9 hours included taking to every single hiker about my pals fat bike, so probably about 5 hours riding/hiking time) 😉 Otherwise, The most annoying bit of hebden.. the mmbop stairs. Just cant do them. grrr

Got rid of my Alpine 160 and replaced it with a Ragley Blue Pig. Im 26. My riding has advanced on the HT as I started to ride the Pig the same as I would with my Alpine.. soon to realise I had to be far more picky over lines etc instead of just ploughing down anthing. Now I’m used to the hardtail I can still keep up with the full sus boys on the downs and I actually prefer it! Certainly helps on the climbs aswell! Looking forward to getting back on to a full sus but for now (whilst my arse and arms can handle it) I’m more than happy on the hardtail!

DavidM.. were you one of the two fella’s on Alpines? I saw you at the top of nan Beild.. I was on the Ragley and my pal on the fat bike 🙂

haha 😉 that last article was on the 27th March, so it will be fine by the weekend…….. As I mentioned above, I was up Nan Beild on Sunday in the snow, so am not expecting it to be the best riding conditions up Snowdon!

The plan is to descend the rangers path.. and that’s what we will attempt 🙂
