    You need a large.

I’m about 5’9″ and the medium is too short in the TT so large is better. If I had one I would probably put a 40mm or so stem on though.

Assuming it is a threaded bb, what width is the shell?

    They are very heavy…

Recently did a 24″ FS build with proper parts on it just small wheels and it was lighter than his previous 20″ commy. Other than that I don’t know a great deal but apparently the kid can ride much faster now!

The guy’s got skills and it looks impressive but smooth trails like that are no big deal on a crosser.

I’m sure you do it all the time 🙄

Yes they are right not just trying to rip you off…

You can get a raceface direct mount one for £55 and remove the spider and save weight.

Depends on the circumstances… my first job was proper shit and I hated every minute, I had an interview elsewhere and had a phonecall offering me the job and that I start in two weeks, so I just left a note on my bosses desk and went home…

A customer has the right to expect the pedals provided to be perfectly suitable for extended use. Those who work in shops that intentionally supply shoddy goods, please tell me which shops these are so I know to avoid them.

As already said I would always advise to purchase some proper pedals even if a bike is supplied with (crap) pedals which the manifacturers specifically state is not for extended use. If they do not want this they can be provided with the ones that other people chose not to have and advised it will be enough to get them home but won’t last long and are not for proper use of the bike…

but as I and bencooper already said, I have seen plenty of pedals fail but usually the bearings collapse and the body comes off the axle never had one take out the threads…

~£10 for true at most lbs how much would postage be on a set of wheels? About the same cost and more hassle IMO which is why they offer it for free as most won’t bother…

No cubes come with pedals so it will be some cheap shite off something else.

As above the amount of people who don’t listen about the stock pedals being called “demo” or “testride” pedals for a reason then come back shouting about the pedal falling apart after 6 months of winter commuting….

BUT I haven’t seen any strip the thread/come loose so would probably give the benefit of the doubt.

Seems everyone just agrees someone didn’t tighten it up enough…

BUT surely if it wasn’t tightened at the start then it would have been loose at the 6 week check and they would have tightened it then, so seems a bit odd.

Could be either persons fault really, but everyone just saying it must have been the shops fault and they have to prove it blah blah blah, but the shop will have a PDI sheet showing that the mechanic ticked a box saying the pedal was tight and probably the same for the 6 week check so they can (on paper) prove it if needed.

but either way you would think they can do something to try and resolve it without charging that much….

It makes sense they would with the boost axle etc but seems strange they haven’t mentioned it anywhere, also I have read online about there being 29er boost hub 34 forks on some pivot bikes, either it is this one or fox have kept that one quiet?

Can’t find much in the way of boost hubs for sale either, only hope really.

I’ve just bought some marathon plus, they are so thick I can’t see how they will ever puncture unless I ride into a warzone or something…

However they are heavy and just make the bike ride really harsh so I would rather get a few puctures, for sale if anyone ones wooden feeling tyres for their 26″ commuter 😀

Why do ‘compact’ models, with shorter top tubes they are not women’s specific as such but are Girlier colours so they are really. 604 is £525 I think

Interesting… I’m about exactly as tall as you but compared to previous bikes I was thinking the 18.5 would be the closest match

I’m still hoping to get one, was gonna get a 7 but a 9 makes more sense as I won’t end up changing everything…

Was going to get a frame and build but lack of fork and wheel/rim/hub options makes it hard to get anything decent for anywhere near the build prices .

More importantly what is going on the the saddle?

Asking for a price match after you have bought something is just stupid, you were offered a price and agreed to it. Also if you have just bought it and happy with the purchase why go home and check prices after?

Not price matching something that someone else doesn’t have makes total sense as well, they are not actually selling them for that price if they don’t have them are they?

Folder is an option, but my commute is so short I want to put as little enphansis on the bike being for that as possible.

I think I just need to find a way to cram another bike in somewhere.

That is the sensible option, and I could even fix my raleigh for less than £100 but then I still have the trouble of fitting another bike inside my flat.

I tried leaving one locked up outside and it last 2 nights (it was a £30 bike!!) before it was stolen.

    Camber?

Not quite as XC as the epic but similar feel with a bit more travel and slacker angles.

Some nice pics from MSA in the article.

Bit confused with the new treks, does the return of the top fuel mean there will be no more Superfly FS ??

Sold my gnar bike and been borrowing an XC race bike which is too big for me and has silly skinny tyres and I keep going over the bars but it is great fun on the local trails with much less of a speed disadvantage on the downs (at my slow speed) than I thought so considering getting a much shorter travel bike this year…

Why put super heavy draggy dual ply tyres and still risk pinch flats when you can go tubeless use normal tyres save weight and have no pinch flats.
