So you’ve found a product superior to their competition but aren’t willing to pay their price for it ?;)

I doubt you will find anyone selling current specialized bikes reduced online they just had a sale that ended this week and won’t let anyone reduce bikes after that normally

Fit some zee/saint calipers to your levers?

I’d have the mavics, stiff light serviceable.
I can’t be dealing with cup and cone so the DA’s are out for me

Specialized make the riprock with 2.8″ tyres and proper fatbike as well.

It’s not the rims fault… Either a gap in the tape or tyre no seating would be my guess

I’m completely pro ebike, but drop bared road ones just seem a bit pointless with the motor cutting out at 15mph you’re never going to keep up with the other roadies at 20mph+ on a 40lbs bike. So you might as well just get a nice comfy hybrid and cruise to work at 15.

    Great for those 15mph rides…

LOVE the attention to detail on this, wish I had time to go touring to actually justify having something like this.

I think I’ve convinced myself to go for it… 105 model in my size is due in may which is exactly when my cycle scheme is up for renewal so gives me a little time to get the extra saved.

I’d say blue scar at afan would be good as long as they are at least a bit fit, verderers at FOD is great for begginers.

A pair of 41c knards would be my choice.

You could change to 700c wheels but what is the point? You could only run skinny tyres. There are a few 650b narrow tyres around from more niche brands and WTB are pushing “road plus” 650b 47c tyres so looks like all gravel/gnarmac bikes might be heading for a new standard…

Assuming you mean £2k before discount?

I prefer the colour of the 105 Slate. Would be tempted to go for that then upgrade to Di2 at a later date.

Yes I mean £2k retail priced bikes, luckily for me not what I actually need to pay. Got C2W coming up again soon so that will give me a decent start towards it.

If I can find the extra then I will be going for the slate, otherwise I will have to settle for a alu diverge I think.

Main reason I think the riprock is worth it as it has specific tyres for a kids bike, rather than (as mentioned above) super grippy draggy trials tyres.

    How about the specialized riprock?

I work for a cannondale and specialized dealer so that isn’t a problem 😉

I really didn’t want to go over £2k but the slate is very very tempting

I doubt it is, as this is a slate specific 30mm lefty.

I would say try one before you decide, it would be ruined with loads of travel, you would just have a MTB with drop bars which isn’t what it is.

The 105 slate, or carbon diverge is my dilemma £2500 for both.

Depends on your spoke length, longer nipple = shorter spoke. Most calculators say they are based on a 12mm nipple or you can input the ones you want to use.

That will only happen if no one buys any 😉

I get loads of these in work…

Had a guy ask what “loom” is as someone said the tyres he bought are great for “steep and loomy trails” (he meant loam).

had a good laugh at the though of a tyre designed specifically for the conditions in a textiles factory.

Last year it want passed my house about 9miles in, I saw people on bromptons and mtbs, no idea how far those people got though. No short course this year so I doubt those people will be doing it again.

Bar and stem on the T130 as I hate the whyte ones. £200ish for renthal/easton/raceface carbon bar and stem

£160ish for some mavic aksiums for the sterling.

Spend the rest on booking some uplifts.

Great thread. But on a more serious note, some saddles or bad set up will mean you are cutting off blood flow to your chap and this could be a sign of that?

Can lead to “performance issues” further down the line too.

Not tried the purg but not had any of those issues with a ground control down to 12psi and I weight 16st. Gone for a scwalbe nobby NIC rocket Ron set up now though way more grip than the spec tyres.

Why would they remove the chainring when fitting a bb for you?

    The nic is sweet!

No loss of grip at all on super sloppy trails today, doesn’t roll bad either. Had major issues with the ground control on the rear though… Gone past the limit of how wet it can handle even as a rear so might go for a purgatory or hold out for the schwalbe

Got one of those as our demo in the shop, agree on the tyres

I have just got my hands on a nobby Nic 3.0 which is by far the most aggressive plus size tyre I’ve seen so far, braving the weather to try it on my fuse in the morning!

I would be going for an epic, cracking bike, xc race bike weight but have ridden one down some pretty rowdy trails without to much bother…

BUT I haven’t ridden that many super racy bikes only borrowed an epic for a bit.

Luckily my boost rebas have plenty of clearance. Really want some 34’s though…

On my 38mm rims my nobby nic measures around 75mm and looks like I should have some more grip! Same size as the ground control but much more aggressive. The ground control is great for the back thouybut might as well sell my spare if someone wants it.

Will be on my 38mm rival. Will measure when it’s on. Will take measurements for ground control and purgatory on the same rim too.

Got my nobby nic, no box and has a one deformed nob (don’t laugh) so think it is probably a factory reject or something but for £29 I’m not to bothered seems reasonable weight will try and get it on the front today.

    wiggles

Or just get a tyre and use your existing wheel

    wiggles

Will measure it, on paper it is over 100g lighter than the ground control too.

ordered a nobby nic 3.0 Snakeskin trailstar

    From where[/quote]

Merlin, not sure how they have any as I work in a bike shop and none of our schwalbe suppliers even have it listed yet!
