  • How Long To Rebuild A Bike? – Back From The Dead

What I don’t understand, apart from “should I have another bike”, you can get parts at trade and you’re saying you wouldn’t have nice parts on the FS?

Doesn’t mean they are free! plus most stuff like drivetrains and brakes are as cheap on CRC as trade anyway. I could build one but with cheaper/not as nice stuff as the hardtail which just seems a bit backwards… so

Currently in the same situation… plan to buy an FS frame and put the good bits from my hardtail on it… then bit by bit I’ll rebuild the hardtail ready for next winter

This seems like the best plan, Just need to figure out what frame to get!

    Sub 100gm carbon saddle.
Dropper post is upstairs and works fine but weighs a ton.
More weight to drop with a carbon seat post on the way.

    im out

What do you want to change about it?

Dropper post looks like the most obvious thing you should get.

depending on what you want to do offset bushes are one of the cheapest ways to change your bike.

Seriously though, I’d buy a decent frame, and build it up over the next few months. More fun that way, and you can take advantage of bargains as and when they come up in sales or on the classifieds. It doesn’t have to be boost or + does it?

Ive seen a few decent frames around, could get something half decent for £400-500 but then by the time ive bought suspension and wheels etc (have stuff like brakes and bars in my spares collection) it will be at least £1200+ and Im lucky enought to be able to get most parts at trade price so 2nd hand isnt really worth it for a lot of stuff.

for a bit less than that (say I could get a decent new frame that I can use the HT bits on and will be a much higher spec than the £1200 bike.

Doesnt have to be boost or plus but just makes sense because I like it and have bits already.

There should be a “click” you can feel for every adjustments and definitely end points. Sounds like the oin in yours is snapped though..

The bearings sit directly in the frame, there is no BB as such just bearings. So those adaptors are your only choice really.

Bearings are just a 6806 IIRC so can be bought easily enough.

    tyre rub…
play in wheel bearings, flex in wheel etc could all be the cause.

Nice little lap of the caffal today, feel like I am getting a bit of speed back now after not riding very often for most of last year. Getting a yearning for another bouncy bike though, will borrow a demo bike from work and find out if I really want one before I ditch the HT.

Like the look of it and sort of half looking for a new frame but would be a backwards step in geometry for me…

Got her some flowers, I didnt get anything, she was then mad at me for some reason I dont understand, then tonight told me to pick her and kids up from swimming on my way home, rung her when I got there to find out she had already left with them so I just took a 5 mile detour in heavy traffic for no reason but it is my fault…

Will have to give a good clean and get some wax lube before

    My training is going well…

Havent ridden more than 20 miles in one go this year so far 😆

Hoping to keep getting in the commuting miles and get a few longer mtb rides in the next few weeks. My aim is to finish rather than anything else.

Not sure whether to change tyres for the day as have nobby nic and rocket ron combo on 3″, thinking about getting another ron or something similar for the front

Think they have just come out in the last week or so, think factory jackson posted on FB saying they are currently using some and writing a review.

I remember looking when they were launched and thinking how heavy they are…

Ive got a beko that was £200 7 years ago, two adults and two kids in the house it takes a hammering (on twice a day probably) and I have just had to change the motor brushes (cost £9 and took me 10 mins) and it is working as well as when I bought it.

Was recommended beko by a mate who does appliance repairs for cheap parts and availability, I honestly cant see what benefit you get from spending 2 or 3 times as much.

Whats dead about the current one? if you do a bit of research they can quite easily be fixed a lot of the time.

I could never get mine feeling right, it was stupidly soft in the start/middle and still didnt get through all the travel, or set up to pedal decently and was rock hard and only used about 80% travel…

Just seemed to have too much progression and mine was on a bike from new so it was the manufacturers specified tune etc

    Hybrid…

coming to the realisation I hate drop bars and want to change mine to flats as just much prefer them and means I can have decent brakes.

Depends on how often you are going to do it, you need to take into account axle size fittment etc. Ive always used park wheel truing stands but they arent cheap for a decent one £100+

Ideally you want a dishing tool and spoke tension guage as well

(Aerospace engineer so hopefully that might help.)

    it wont 😉

    Arghhhh!

Should have smashed that into the stands…

Or taken the points from the kick in the first half.

Thought England were going to start running away with it after that try. So glad we managed that try, should have kicked those extra points though.

Hoping for a good result but dont see it being easy, even more so without north but it seemed unlikely he was ever going to play (Someone at work is mates with him so has had a few texts) think they just kept it quiet until last minute just as the mindgames thing.

I got the posh ones as wanted light pedals, they look horrific now as the non-clip side gets scratched to bits from the cleat so they are sat in a draw for spares as nobody would want to buy them for more than a fiver the way they look

    wiggles

    I have some… in a draw.

had them on the gravel/commute bike but got fed up with them being annoying to get in after traffic lights etc

Women’s frames are rarely different other than size/colour it is the saddles and bars widths etc that make the difference

There no such thing as 24″ spokes, what size do you need?

There are mounts for the defender to fit pikes available from mojo

No they sell frames with shocks & forks etc as bundles now. They will get back to you with what is available but there were plenty a few days ago

I have been thinking about this but doesnt really make sense for me.

£20 a month for lets say 2 years, £480 and nothing to show for it at the end…

You can buy a very good kids bike for say £500 and probably sell it for at least £250 at the end of 2 years so in reality it is much cheaper, yes it wont be covered in hope stuff but It is just bling really and wont make you kids ride better than any other decent kids bike. (says someone who has spent a lot of money on hope bling for their own bike)

If you ordered from Nicolai direct, then give mojo a call as they just had a big delivery and have quite a few frames in stock at the moment.

Sram do the Nx cranks in 155 which would be good.
