Yes, 6,000 of them in this case forcing people to be prisoners in their own homes for 3.5hrs.

or you could not be a melodramatic baby and just walk/ride places without your car?

Or if you really need you car on a sunday you can just park a few hundred yards down the road past the cordon and not worry.

I lived on the velothon course a few years ago and nearly got run over by a guy driving down a footpath through a park because the road was closed 👿

reach is what to look for, as top tube length matters when you are sat down, reach matters when you are stood up riding the interesting stuff as it is kind of irrelevant how far the saddle is from the bars at that point.

Ive just bought a new frame that is only 11mm longer in the TT than my other bike but the reach is about 47mm longer, using a 10mm shorter stem I should have a very similar position when sat down but should feel considerably longer when standing.

Also the british steel hardtail brands are not really at the forefront of geometry envelope pushing.

Im at the opposite end of the scale to most of you lot.

Had my first at 20, came as a bit of a shock when I was 19 had only moved in together (from our parents houses) a few months before finding out she was pregnant.

It hasn’t been easy living on just my (measly just above minimum) wage and a HUGE amount of family/personal problems crammed into my life since to make everything harder.

but I wouldn’t change it for the world, now 26 with 2 boys (6 and 4) and for some silly reason decided to get a dog last year, he is more trouble than the kids.

It is just one of those things your instincts kick in and you just do what you have to, I hadn’t even really thought about having kids before I had one,

Or use a 30T chainring which are usually threaded so you just use half the old bolt you take out.

I had a similar situation when I lived in my first flat when I was 19, downstairs neighbours ceiling starting sagging about a month after I moved in. Traced it to a leaking pipe under my bath, the bath panel was not sealed/glued so just came straight off when they came to check and there was some paper towels in there where someone had obviously tried to dry it up.

Landlord tried to claim it was my fault as it wouldn’t have been like this when I moved in and said the repairs would be taken out of my deposit.

I just sent him a stern worded letter saying that at no point had I any reason to try and remove the bath panel so how would I know it wasn’t glued on and if I had noticed a leak under the bath I would have told him to come fix it because it wouldn’t be my problem anyway. Never heard a word again and got my deposit back when I moved out. Obviously knew about it and decided to leave it, let someone move in and blame it on them 😕

Not Italian but when I sold a lappiere (only ever sold one in my shop because didn’t want to sell them but one person was adamant it was the only bike they wanted) Id often contact the distributor about one of the many warranty claims for this particular bike and be told “lappierre are closed for a week/month so wont know anything for a while” for no apparent reason other than off on their jollies.

My cousin had one of them, rolled it down a embankment into a pet shop 😯

But if he then claims on house insurance for the bike theft that would likely be classed as insurance fraud, and given the circumstances (claiming on house insurance for theft from a car) is quite likely the two companies would talk to each other to ensure there isn’t another claim for the same incident

That was based on not being able to claim anything from either

What are the internal diamater of the top and bottom of the headtube?

If it is smooth then it wont be intergrated (that would have machined lips the bearings sit straight into.

IF the measurement is say 44mm then there is ZS44 (ZS= zero stack, internal) and EC44 (EC external cup) cups available but some of the larger sizes only come in an external or internal option.

If they just smashed a window and didnt cause major damage, tell the (car) insurance company a stone was flicked up by a passing vehicle and smashed it…

That way it just counts as a windscreen claim and not theft so will have much less (if any) effect on future policy prices, if you report as theft they will probably give you naff all for you bike and then charge you for the privilege in future.

Car insurance doesn’t usually cover for more than a few hundred quid, home insurance might if it is a named item insured away from home.

Nope works both ways and appears to be working at the moment on a cold wash?

Which I don’t get as I disconnected the heating element before and it still went very quickly. Only other thing I can think of is something overheating so maybe now I’ve left it a while it works where as before it was hot so going almost straight away.

Think I will pop to screwfix for a multimeter tomorrow.

That might be a good shout, as I think when spinning it only goes one way but on a wash it reverses..

    Ill go check

Not that I can find, nothing seems wet inside.

Motor seems quite hot but spins fine

Cooker blew up last week so really don`t want to have to fork out for a washing machine…

I’ve had one for nearly 18 months. It is a harsh ride compared to a FS but it is the smoothest riding hardtail I’ve ever had because of the tyres, even compared to steel.

I am fitting a static post on my new bike just to work out what length dropper to get before I spend the cash, I bet I last one ride before I order one…

I have 38mm internal and they work fine with 3″ tyres so I Would say 30 would be ok for 2.8″ might not be ideal but might also help with clearnace on a not properly plus frame

^ flog him your old one and he can go 150mm 😉

You need to replace the airshaft but yes should be fine. 160 max for 650b IIRC

I cant be the only one that read the title as “8 year old makes his own skatepark and mrs goes mental”

I had visions of ramps made out of cut up wardrobes or something.

So water in bearings is OK if there’s grease in there?

Its not ideal but if you have decent “waterproof grease” you will have water and grease. If you have muc off in there the grease will be gone

    wiggles

How about 650b with some of the newer gravel tyres? You can get 650b G-ones and knards in 650b x41c

Nearly all brands have gone up in the last year, think whyte have upped their prices twice now? So you basically get the next model down for the same money as the higher one a few months back.

Specialized held off the price increase about as long as anyone I think, but yes it is all to do with brexit essentially, $$$ are more £££

Muc off won’t harm bearings, they are sealed

Yeah, just like bearings are immune to water and dirt due to their seals 😉

I’ve found muc-off inside suspension which is very well sealed. It works good on drivetrains etc but keep it well away from suspension and bearings.

Interested to see what people suggest, Im at the same point with my intense, just got the frame and stripped it down because the usual “all the bearings are fine” means some of them appear to be lubricated with sand.

All the lower link came off fine, but the top 4 linkage bolts are super tight, one has rounded a bit because I tried so hard to undo it (used decent tools) going to have to source some replacements before I try and get them out, luckily the top bearings seem OK so I can replace the lower ones and use it as it is for now.

Poor some boiling water onto the ring/hub before trying to undo it. Has worked for me in the past when one just wasn’t moving at all.

If it is warranty they wont charge you for return postage but you have to pay to send them in.
