I mixed 8 speed cassette & chain with tiagra front 10 spd triple rings all worked but the tiagra derailleur was to narrow and rubbed you want the 8 or 9 speed front der imo.

Many years ago the local lads had a roaring trade in Pigeon and Rook to the local Chinese restaurant until it was exposed.

    Just saying.

When I moved to the Sologne forest central France I gravelled my 29er short stem, bars are about 550 wide, bar ends and some 1.9 tires I picked up from CR in a sale this area is covered in gravel tracks and the bike is loads of fun for that style riding I don’t ride with any one so no idea about the road side of things I keep a road bike for that in the winters.

The only cost was 20 euro for the tires 29ers are versatile bikes and the bar ends make the road sections better especially in a wind next I think ill buy an Inbred frame so I can hang a rack on it and tour.

If you go Ubuntu stick with a “long term support” version like 16.04lts even though yo can get newer versions, and never update on the same day updates are available wait two or three weeks they always seam to create instability.

As an update I have to say my Linux experience has deteriorated to the point I have ordered a new pc with windows.

Mainly because of driver support from nvidia being poor on linux and maybe my own lack of knowledge i still love the interface but i need to be working not tinkering.

Word processing, photo editing, in the long dark days of winter a bit of empire total war or similar and file storage, I work as the devil (independent estate agent) so lots of pictures.

The nvidia drivers seam unstable especially after an upgrade but that’s because I am on Ubuntu linux.

I just looked up the service tag the pc is actually 2008 bloody well made these Dels.

Because my current PC is a 2009 model and the graphics card drivers for GeForce GTX 550 Ti/PCIe/SSE2 are becoming an issue issue.the pc has been super reliable i blow the dust out once a year

Squashed f3 vertebra in my back because i was stupid enough to follow another rider down a trail i did no know which had a section way beyond my capabilities,we turned into a gap in the trees off a gravel track to find a 12 foot almost vertical plunge onto a couple of planks stretched acroos a giant 8 ft deep bomb hole …in retrospect he could have warned me. :?

Hi yes I appreciate what you are saying but I really want to avoid the scenario where I turn up in someones home and set up my entire office.

the copy’s I take need to be readable so we can lift information for creating other documents I need to make maybe 100/200 scans a month.

Yes agreed it would save time its on the “possible” list.

OK the phone is all I need and google drive scan app can do the job the next thing is how to hold the phone in one position firmly enough that i can feed documents into the line of sight and press the buttons, so I am now searching for some sort of stand or tripod for the phone.

You may however be right, and more than anything, the bike you want will always ride better than the superior bike you don’t.

Totally disagree with that so many times i bought the bike i pictured my self riding and not the bike i needed for my riding only to be disappointed and get the “buyers remorse” that would lead to the whole cycle(pun intended) happening again.

Don’t be persuaded by others objectively analyse your own needs and not the hype.

I do use the phone but its not a great solution especially in poor light.
I use google drive which does work on the phone but its really hard to get good results with the phone and no guarantee its good until you get home and view on the pc of course by then if its duff its to late.

If it were any other manufacturer than PX I would have already pulled the trigger but their quality control can be pretty poor, I had one of the London roads that was far from perfect …I was hoping to find a guinea pig with this thread lol

Wild boar are nothing but a pest we have 1000s of the Barstewards cause a shed load of damage everywhere and then you end up with the woods closed all the time so the hunters can have their fun.
