It is a lot easier to walk into a shop and say I want a gravel bike than I want a relaxed geometry all day comfortable bike with wide tyres strong wheels rack and guard mounts etc etc, also easier to search on said term “Gravel”

    Good stuff.

Am i right that optimal chainline for 1×10 on 135mm dropout is 50mm …is this pushable to 52mm or would that give to much cross chaining in the big rear gears.

reason i ask is i cant get anything but a 32 tooth on a 50mm chain line i live in a very flat area and would prefer a 36 tooth.

Explored the next day and got about halfway up a track in the 4×4 before the vegetation got too much, the bike trails were clearly visible and well used so there was nothing stopping me pushing up but….back the following day with a chainsaw in the back and now have a fully cut back access road to the top…yes, I am now that prick from a Surrey Hills thread a few years ago whose girlfriend was shuttling him to the top for DH runs

I am intrigued, you went up with a chainsaw is this a public road ? public property? can you not get in trouble? or did you get permission from someone.?

    Not accusing just a question.

The question is how big is the lawn? I was cutting my 5000 sqm for 2 years with a 53cm cut mower honda engine deck by some Italian company 5.5 housr each time …..looked into the Toro timemaster but could not find a dealer there is also a cub cadet which is very wide cut and gets better reviews than the Torro.

    http://www.cubcadet.com/equipment/cubcadet/walk-behind-mowers/wide-area-walk-behinds/features

In the end i picked up a 107cm cut john deere for 450 euro, (bargain) the guy could not get it to run on the day, he had forgot it wont start with out engaging the park brake so i made him a silly offer and walked away grinning with my new green and yellow pride and joy 90 minutes to cut the grass

What is best for cycling a perscription set of glasses or sunglasses with prescription insert, I like the idea of changing the lens for different conditions but worry the glasses will be to uncomfortable and heavy what do people chose ?

The whole history of mankind has been about joining together to resist tyranny and danger from, the first small family groups to villages to tribes to kingdoms to nations and alliances together we are better off history proves it, time and time again by coming together we have achieved great things and changed the world divided we fall, at the end of the Roman empire came the dark ages a step back to petty wars and the all powerful king kicking our asses with his gang of thugs,we came together in unions to resist the all powerful mill owner to fight the Nazis the list goes on and on Brexit to me feels like a step back to the dark ages history proves we are better off together changing the EU from within to what it should be.

Sorry if this reads poorly I am not the most literate guy on here.

And yes bullying on here is one reason I rarely post.

pine floors expand and contract considerably with the seasons, if your gaps are not clean through to the space below I would leave it. I have a top floor laid with no gaps it is a nightmare for noise creaking and groaning as you walk because its pushing against each plank, they need to move a little imo.

The phone thing is curious …I have found myself intently studying my phone although the reality is i am just swiping back and forth to avoid the possibility of having to talk to other people…when did i become scared of interaction and what am I missing because of this convenient gadget to hide behind?

Agree csb this is the wealthy part of spain showing two fingers to the rest of their fellow countrymen, no sympathy from me.

Imagine westminster refusing to fund any other part of the UK.

Hoods for climbing and the flat, tops for resting or a change of position just started descending in the drops for better brake control.

I am converting a tourer to gravel took off the guards and I can get 50mm in easily but its a heavy beast at 12kg.

Nothing new Peugeot were making dedicated gravel bikes in the 50/60/70/80’s under labels like “demi course” and “randonneuse” fat tires guard rack mounts and some with 650 tire size you can pick them up for a song on the french version of gumtree etc its called https://www.leboncoin.fr/ got one in the back of the stable lovely soft riding frames and not heavy even by today’s standards.

They also take up a lot of space when not being used, which is usually most of the time.

Thats the whole point why lumber yourself with a god awful tank off a vehicle which is neither one thing or the other just for the few times you need it, trailer if you have space is so practical.
