I Agree with crashtestmonkey Items need to be fit for purpose, frankly I am sick of cheap Chinese Asian tat being not fit for purpose, Yesterday i purchased a Silverline tap and die set to sort the forks I had to return it as I was not fit for purpose.

A huge transfer of wealth is being sent east at the cost of western jobs for items so shoody as to beggar belife most often people dont complain its like stealing your money.

As to it being a cheap frame it originally was 299 not so cheap had I known the grief I was going to have I would have purchased a Genisis Vapour or CDA at a simalar price but I wanted the particular advantages this frame offered wide clearance 135 mm spacing rack and guard mounts etc I had also like CTM purchased parts that made sending it back for refund awkward.

I doubt I will be returning to PX in the future.

Started to build the frame up disc mount threads on the fork of a really poor quality and not excepting bolts, Haven’t tried to force it in but contacted PX ….they have asked for pics.

I wonder if this is a new supplier to PX QC would appear to be an issue on this batch.

I just went to check my other two frames a trek cobia and a revolution country traveler and there is no difference both seats drop the moment you let off the seat clamp and both are to similar tolerances.

A quick search can reveal that px have had one or to issues along this line …..

To be honest that looks the same as mine and i would not expect anything tighter, many a time i have let my seat clamp off on a bike to have the stem fall,

Massive confusion on the headset front, there appear to be two FSA orbit c 40 no 42 headsets but one is designated “ACB” the other “caged bearing”

(ACB) being the correct one, to make maters worse i think the PX web site “may” be wrong as they don’t list the correct headset in the components section and I think the picture they have for the incorrect one is actually the pic for the correct one …..

So can you feel the steel apeal through 2.5 inches of soft low inflated tire ?

On a road bike i think its appreciable but on a mtb with fat tires I have my doubts.

    Gone the other way.

I have an Inbred 29er and a Gary fisher 29er in alu the GF is a far nicer ride imo than the Inbred although both are almost identical angles and built from the same parts. Steel needs to be skinny and often the weight just kills the feel for me.

Had a Thorn Sherpa amazing bike felt like the magic carpet ride steel is meant to be but it was a £500 frame so you would expect it to be special I think good steel costs, in my experience any way.

Rang PX this morning to be reassured about the headset and seat tube, they say the headset is an industry standard and nothing one off and they have no knowledge at this time of any other QC issues on the frame and if there are any they will refund in full with postage …at this price £149 I pulled the trigger there just are so few framsets with this many features out there and NONE at this price. fingers crossed.

If your used to mtb you may find the down tube shifting difficult but it looks like a comfortable frame.

Go take it for a spin its the only way to know.

Thanks for the info “wwaswas” obviously some people are not asking the right questions and assuming that the frame has a problem …now if we can just put this seat tube issue to bed I can get on a place my order :-)

ok a little confused i only ever had 1″ 1/8 headsets that took a lot of pressing in i bought the tools to remove and fit them …are we saying that new style headsets dont need to be pressed? ie not an interfearence fit.

    Flat bar advice.

Thinking of buying this for a flat bar commuter towpath and light 2/3 night camping trips dont want drops.

Is a medium with 540 toptube to small for a man 5’9″ 33 cycling inseam in a flat bar config any one built a flat bar version give me some advice please.

my mtb is an Inbred 29er medium and that’s about a 600 mm TT and does feel a little stretched run it with a 60 mm stem.

Tried a 60mm stem lowered the seat 1 cm bike became very twitchy especially at low speed and at high speed in the drops.

putting it up to sell its not for me,been cycling all my life now 54 and maybe its just to late to come to drops i’l get a hybrid for touring and chalk this up to experience still got the mtb’s so not to much off a loss as long as i can get a few quid back. should never have sold my cannondale ultra touring that was a lovely bike sigh!
