I did a 7000 mile trip across the US and up and down and Jesus there is some seriously boring terrain even in a car Kansas and Idaho and the Dakotas come to mind, and in a car you can clock 100’s of miles a day I can quite understand the mind numbing tedium of doing it on a bike.

Had a Surly lht one of the most uninspiring bikes I ever had sold it bought a Thorn frame had that feel like no other bike i have ridden before or since (maybe the magic steel thing) and Thorn do an amazing amount of size variations and are not that expensive when you take into the equation the service, advice, and guarantee you get?

I don’t know if its still the case but the used to offer to take the bike bake if after a month you were unhappy ,now that is confidence for you.

Recently had a runaway wood burner we had purchased the stove with the house my other half was last to bed put two logs on and turned the control the wrong way , the fire boys came with a longish handled small shovel and steel buckets they removed the fire from the stove to out side
it was really scary as in the dark we could see the single wall flue glowing and sparks appearing around the joist box where the flue goes through the floor we had a professional inspect it and build a new flue and hot box in the floor space ,I think the firemen are used to this here and there first action was to get the fuel out of the fire.

This is a perfect example of how dangerous unregulated and uncontrolled capitalism is, as long as we make a profit we can destroy the planet and give horrible cancers to people but we will have won a big pile of money.

Your neighbour has a large extended family that fight all the time half the family push down your fence and move in with you demanding food shelter money etc

    You
    A.give them what you have?
    B.call the police?

In a modern connected world you can not sit back and do nothing leaving country,s to become rogue harbouring crime finnancing terrorism etc

In the Uk you have a naturel border uncrossable by most, other countr,s dont have this luxury.

We policed Ireland until peace and serbia/Bosnia UN peace keepers have made a big difference in other areas.

We kept the Rwanadan refugees in Zaire Burundi and Tanzania in camps on the borders untill they returned I know I worked in those camps.

The result of to many ref,s in Europe may well bring a right wing backlash at the polls lurching Europe to the far right

    Offer some ideas!

My experience of buying cars that have very low levels of use have largely been bad/expensive,engines need to be started and run weekly any prolonged period of inactivity for an engine is very bad, I would want to know that said vehicle had been regularly in use not just standing.seals and internal parts need to be regularly bathed in lubricant to maintain and protect.

I totally agree that all sensible measures should be taken to preserve life and prevent accidents including educating cyclists to use the roads in a responsible safe fashion.

I regularly see cyclists taking risks to save a few extra pedal strokes.

I take it the cyclists in question are riding up the inside of trucks waiting to turn left almost certainly with their indicators on ….a bit like suicide really.

We did the same in Zire/congo for the Rwandans and when it was all over they went back home a better solution than distributing an entire people around the world imo.

And Germany is just hovering up cheap labor and does not give a toss for the country’s around it that are inconvenienced

It’ll propbably not help people on lower incomes to buy a house (which isn’t a divine right) as the banks will be too ****ed to lend any money.

No but it should be! government should have to make sure adequate and affordable housing is available for its people we pay them to look after us …all of us not just the rich.

If the crash had been allowed to happen wealth would have been redistributed its the way capitalism is meant to work but the wealthy scared the politicians into believing it would mean chaos, well for them it would have but it would have produced opportunity for others.

There are many studies which say 50% of all jobs will go over the next few decades as automation and robotics really takes off,now smart software is putting traders and clerical workers out of a jobs so well educated white collar workers are also in the line of fire.

just slagging of the so called unskilled does not help even skilled workers are going to lose out solidarity is whats needed.

someone needs to start thinking outside the box and voting outside the box.

As some one else said I think Putin is in the right and the US once again in the wrong, but that will change nothing as the US storms on destabilizing governments it does not like /agree with and leaving others to clean up its mess just like korea vietnam south america bla bla bla then go home behind there nice safe borders far across the sea salute the flag and say mission accomplished god bless America

check out the fiat ducato peugeot boxer type they are very square which makes moding things in the back easier and more spacious and i would go mid wheelbase and six speed box is a must have.

the fiat is quiet and drives like car I have had one for 3 years highly recommend it, I have the 3 liter and get 35 mpg.

touch screen is bloody annoying for my fat fingers battery is always flat if i tun anything on..games are all the same you are just chasing pixels across the screen and its to big and fragile for my pocket.

My next phone will be dumb! fed up with the smartphone it promises much and delivers little.

I purchased a London road to try the one bike to rule them all hype, preety soon realied that you compromise to much trying to have a bike for all types of riding, now the LR is for road and tow path and the inbred for eveythinjg else I think i fell for the hype and am a little disapointed with the gravel bike experience.
