Thanks guys … sort of settled an argument… full bike with lifetime warranty…. can see why its harsh though… imagine you’ve just changed rings chain cassette etc with 2x 10 XTR for example? Not riders fault frame breaks and new one wont take a front mech

Cwtch…. is far more than a cuddle! It’s a cupboard under the stairs, outside storage, an invitation to move closer if you’re short on room “cwtch up” plimsolls are daps… woodlice granny greys… in gogland I like twmfat…literally a funnel but used if someones a bit dopey😉

Had my figures through for redundancy today…. not a lot! We gat a months pay in lieu of notice… anyone know if I’m taxed on this months pay and the redundancy? Its particularly galling with Airbus core lads getting offered 4weeks redundancy for each year of service whereas contractors doing exactly the same job alongside them get statutory minimum 😥

I’ve seen it a few times around Betws over last month or so…. hard to miss as I’m riding because they flash their lights and wave a lot! Not sure what they’re doing though sorry!

Cross better happen, or these lockdown miles are a waste of time… I race in the North Wales league and it will hopefully be my first season in the over 50’s… fingers crossed

Cheers for a few ideas folks…. despite trying to be upbeat I’m more beat up! Was happily doing 300 miles a week whilst furloughed… not moved off sofa for last couple of days 😥

My samsung has a fan at the bottom which ices up and stops spinning… defrosting cures it… apparently it said in the owners manual that you have to defrost the whole thing every so often🙄

Its rubbish… no legal definition of local or prescribed maximum time you’re allowed to be on your bike… chatting to mate who’s in police and they’ve got no more clue than us!I’m on coast so locally got coast path which is narrow and busy… or empty moors 30 mins away where you hardly see anyone for hours… I know where I feel safer🙄

Yep they are a fun way to pass some hours… but very predictable in terms of plot…. if you read a couple back to back you really notice the similarities…. and Tom Cruise FFS Reacher wears size 13 Churches or Loakes🙄

Paul’s cycles, Warminster cycles were both early pioneers of buying container loads of end of season models then punting them out at a discount… had many bikes from former over the years and a classic e stay alpinestars from warminster 91 maybe

Road riding around north wales picking back roads its pretty deserted… I’m no risk to anyone… as no legal time constraints or distances in place how would the proposed fine work if you refused to pay and ended up in court? Police locally are flagging down riders to quiz them and mention the hour limit but this seems arbitrary! Coast path is full of dubious characters smoking cannabis and swigging lager whilst exercising… Rhyl s particularly lovely 🙄

You’ll be fine buddy using same shops and medical infrastructure… enjoy! The issue with holiday homes/lodges/caravan parks is the massive influx of people who can overwhelm the local drs chemists hospitals etc… I live on the coast of North Wales 10k resident population with 45k hotel/caravan beds potentially available…. some van owners think its because they’re English they’re not welcome 🙄

Did over 300miles last week and didn’t see one group of cyclists…. plenty of (married looking) couples and few mum dad and 2 kids on the coastal paths around North Wales.. roads are ace, only problem being I’m now reaching road junctions expecting them to be clear😉

Early 80s I was a young teenage space cadet🙄 put some fish fingers under the grill and forgot about them… smoke alarm reminded me so ran into kitchen and grabbed the (up in flames) grill pan, flipping hot so put it down on the floor! Floor consisted of checkered brown and cream carpet tiles. I grabbed an oven glove and picked it up only to discover the brown tile welded to the bottom 😥 no worries I thought theres a pile of spares in the garage except they were all cream… bit of rearranging and all was well…. mum kept saying something looks different! Finally confessed a good few years later

Roval do a warranty (lifetime to 5yrs )and crash replacement deal so maybe start with specialized? You’ll get a matching rim that way

Thanks again folks, some really helpful stuff on here. I suppose the main issue, other than the kick in the teeth a demotion is after 20 plus years of faultless service 🙄 is that I guess no schools will be looking for a band 6 TA? So how realistic is finding a comparable job in this timeframe? She’s also a right softie and wouldn’t let the kids down so could well see her just carrying on as is and just being taken advantage of…..if she refuses to accept to down grade will they have to offer redundancy as they are effectively making the role redundant? she’s that disillusioned with the way the senior staff are treating the TAs she is considering other options 😥 thanks again for the much appreciated contributions

No change to responsibilities… her concern is that if she accepts the demotion is it effectively starting a new job? So if redundancy is offered in future is she last in? She’s that sick of the way its being handled she’s be happier looking for something new😥 thanks guys… not academy tj

Seasons over for North Wales league… last race had a disco tunnel with banging tunes, smoke machines and beer every lap…. or if you were serious you could swap that for a couple of hurdles😉 great end to a fun season and my last race in the v40s… v50s next year😥

Unless you were a seriously bad diabetic then its unlikely to contribute!… those aldi merino socks are great… wriggle room for toes is vital… 3/4 waterproof shorts are brilliant…. buffs on head and neck…. if you’re not using spds (luddite 🙄) what about some proper walking boots?

How hard is drilling carbon fibre?… doddle mate I’ll be putting 150 holes in an A350 wing tomorrow 😉 make sure the drill bit is sharp and at max speed before making contact with the carbon…speed before feed is the mantra we use

This year I’m going to carry a sponge in my camelback…. seem to remember passing a river that’s ideal for a bike wash…. queue was long but good natured…. price hike only offended people because its been ridiculously cheap since it started, one rider pays 25 quid and can bring their family to camp for 3 nights, get a well stocked feed station, entertainment for kids, epic route, tubes if you punctured, generous spot prizes (tyres, map book, multitool, helmet for me so far😊)oh and a mug!

Smug mode … I’m in 😉 think I’ve done the last 13 or 14 of them so VIP email nice but might miss the drama of crashing laptops and wondering if you actually in it or not…. used to sell out quicker than Take That tickets on mumsnet 😉 oh and singletrackmind I’ve done about 3/4 of them on Aspens in 26 and 29″ versions with no issues.

CSA has calculator to work out child support… if you pay the amount they say direct to ex with no issues it’s a free service… if you’re a dick and they have to extract the money from you you pay an extra 20% and the ex loses some (10% poss) as an incentive to be amicable! Defo get a solicitor… I didn’t as thought being reasonable and going along with her would pay dividends long term…. IT DOESN’T SO PROTECT YOURSELF!

I got a short sleeve gabba and nanoflex arm warmers…. probably taken the arms off on 3 occasions in 3 years… on 4/5 hr rides when it’s cold and wet initially but then sun comes out… I’d go for long sleeves next time. With different base layers its capable of coping with a range of temps… brilliant bit of kit😊

Prizm low light sounds interesting… but I’m talking proper pitch dark trails so have always used clear pukka Oakley lenses but wondered if I’m being daft as they just end up scratched anyway?
