Tesco torch…only use it when cars coming though, I run in the wilds too no streetlights near me and your eyes adapt to it really well. literally use it to show drivers I'm there and guide me for a few seconds if they dazzle me..try it cos the spookiness makes you run quicker!

Lid defo…light goes where you are looking obviously…handy for punctures etc, plus bar mounted is hopeless for steep dropoffs…agree it's dodgy in drizzle but still best compromise I reckon.

Mate did a chicken in the peaks 15 yrs ago head came clean off and nice bloodspattered shins.

Another mate came off his roadbike with a rabbit jammed in his front wheel..nasty!

Bit rubbish on wet rock, grass, roots etc be careful! fast in the dry though, quite puncture prone but no worse than Cinders or Rampages.

Go for it, mine started Little Ninjas (Taekwondo) at 4, couple in the class even younger, really seen his confidence and concentration grow over the last 18month…got his purple belt last weekend and was really chuffed!..couple of his ill disciplined mates go and the instructor is really strict with them ….behaviour is improving in a matter of weeks.

Re. non violence I think it's good to be able to look after yourself, kids get bullied so hopefully this will give him the confidence to hit back…quickest and best way to stop bullying I reckon.

Just to illustrate how bad Halfords staff are …sent Mrs into the local one on sat for "little stick on patches to stop cables rubbing the frame"…guys in Bikehut not heard of em!…I spoke to the guy on her moby and had to tell him where they were IN HIS STORE!

Re Uplinks point ATB Sales were telling dealers what to charge. discounting was pretty much banned on Marins circa 8yrs ago as was selling them mail order, both on threat of losing the Marin franchise! I used to source shedloads of them as insurance replacements and they were a proper pain at the time. Now to an inexperienced owner I can see the benefits of getting sized up properly, making sure you know how to drop your wheels out etc that a good bike shop should show you, but for more experienced riders saving a grand via Rutland, Pauls etc makes a lot of sense!

Marin pioneered this years ago…mainly protecting teritories and margins I reckon although some dealers are less strict about it than others. Pretty pointless IMO as you could buy one and move home, work away, go to uni soon after so you'd need another dealer to sort Wtee issues anyway.

2.5 to 3 hrs usually …3 on sunday with hangover, route is simples to follow and rough guides posted on the noticeboard by gate…enjoy! Ps keep a lookout for trail maintenance people…looks like there's some work in progress brush cutting

Jimster…got a 1991/2 Fuquay that I've had from new it's great..literally staring at it an hour ago deciding what colour I'm getting it sprayed, gonna be a very old skool build got Grafton cranks, xt thumbies Nukeproof screw on rear hub mavic 231 ceramics, White ind front hub just need some old rigid forks to replace the pace rc 37's and some nice old canti's and it'l be ready to start.

Had an old P22 that was sublime to ride but the Columbus Max tubing on the Fuquay feels nicer.

Yeah good point Sofatester, I think people on here get too hung up on the centres, I ride them and enjoy them all myself, also love wild stuff round Snowdonia and will be heading out to my local trails with a bunch of mates in an hour or so…really spoilt with how much stuff we have on our doorsteps in Wales.,

If I had to rank them it would be CYB or Penmachno for a day ride, just because there's more to CYB it edges Penmachno, then the Marin and Llandegla both of which we tend to do as evening/night rides cos they are a bit shorter.

CYB has great trails and good facilities can't see how you wouldn't enjoy it unless you set out with the intention not to!

Agree CYB is the best, Carl that loop is easy to skip, stay on the road from the cafe half way round

I wouldn't use either UNLESS they are Black Chilli compound…there are a set of MK's in my club looking for their third owner, mate blagged them of me despite my warnings, sketchy as f$$k in the wet, same for SK's use them for Dyfi and Marin Rough Ride cos they are ace at eating up miles but NO Grip if it's wet and puncture prone on tubes.

From Prestatyn onwards there's a coastal cycle path thats great…just getting here thats a bit busy!

As a relative local who rides them all fairly regularly I'd vote for Penmachno M-F just a bit more interesting than the Marin and a bit longer(more of a day out) than the Marin or Llandegla…the extra sections weren't open last weekend according to a lad I rode with last night.

ps Ask the local's what Fanylion means in Welsh…presuming you don't know!

Good point AndyP …operation Puerto sp? identified dopers from a range of sports including footie, tennis etc can't recall any repurcussions from those.

Barnsleymitch don't read Matt Rendells The Death of Marco Pantani then, pretty damning evidence of whole teams of riders implicating Roche etc.

Armstrongs blood data was criticised by some Aussie guy who related Heamatocrit levels to EPO usage, on examination the looked conclusive, ie very difficult to tamper with the samples to fake a positive result but again the only "positive sample" he's allegedly produced was a Bsample that had been tested without his consent, by a French lab with a vested interest (flogging the story to L'Equipe) in finding a positive result!

Innocent until PROVEN guilty has to give him the benefit of the doubt for me!

Wiggo is clean…deffo! he's looking into getting his blood profiles published back to 1999! not checked yet but 2009 figures will be on G-Slipstream site soon if not already…how many others will have the balls to match that

EDIT yep link was there…anybody question these?

    http://www.slipstreamsports.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/brad-wiggins-blood-profile-3.pdf?

Contador does raise questions…interesting to see if he publishes anything!

Schlek brothers are mad…anyone who enjoys climbing that much should be sectioned!…not sure about the M&S connection though!

    1. No it will pop back in, they just do this occaisionally

    2. bit too long winded to reply, go to the owner tech section on their website, you can download a colour owners workshop manual, its ace total stripdown and rebuild info, needs 5wt oil and some basic workshop tools for a clean up and oil change, not difficult at all

    Good luck

ps..hows the recovery going Crellin?..take it your not in work yet?..Did Brechfa monday, Afan yesterday and Penmachno this afternoon….not rubbing it in honest! :D
