Good Karma…in the past I've given away tubes aplenty, couple of split links and powerbars to riders who've blown…Doesn't always work mind, last tube was given to a guy on a Klein hardtail, walking on the road up from Afan….40miles later fanbelt went on the Audi GRRRR!

I think Wales in general is overrated…especially the trail centres

Spot on knock for knock…neither the police nor Insurance co will fight your corner…happened to me 5/6yrs ago at a roundabout guy in a merc tried to overtake me but couldn't, two lanes on exit merged into one, he drove into my rear wheel with his front wing…claimed I wouldn't let him in!…£350 xs on the impreza still grates when I think about it! Copper at the time took the same line, no injury not interested.

Skidartist…in a similar vein, was working in Halfords 20 odd yrs ago (6th form job) when a right minging drunk bird came in at lunchtime on Xmas eve, obviously sourcing the husbands pressie after her office party, she had a cordless screwdriver in her hand and asked me "will this screw anything"…my reply "no it has some limits" was lost on her!

    My order would be:-

    1. Coed Y Brenin Beast early, bite to eat then Tarw trail
    2. Nant Yr Arian Syfydrin trail
    3. Penmachno..you'll get properly wet mind!
    4. Marin
    5. Llandegla…will be mad busy though!

I'm off to the peaks for a change!

What about a call answering service?…we use a company where you have a PA who knows your business to answer when you need to divert calls. costs about £1.25 a call, they take a message and email or text you straightaway, sounds really professional like a bigger organisation, I was skeptical when Mrs suggested it but its been ace….used too feel guilty taking a couple of hours off but much more relaxed now.

I think any organisation that effectively holds a monopoly on the service it offers should be banned from striking, as is the case for the Police

Got a massive postal survey for a client going on at the moment and these postal strikes are costing me big time in terms of time, stress and money!

Shorter working week! plenty of people out there happy to have a job let alone quibbling over 3 hrs

It's great… nice to be out on really frosty nights when all the grass sparkles!

we keep the night rides going from late summer to late spring, only chance to ride midweek and less grief of Mrs W if depart as nippers going to bed!

Makes old favourites like the Marin feel fresh again too

See plenty of wildlife…as long as nobody is whooping too much on the descents!

Meeting tonight at Kinmel arms St George Nr Abergele 6.15/6.30 if anyone local fancies it?…riding not drinking

it's awesome! done it a few times now and really enjoy it.Little races and TTs they organise are especially recommended for wasting all the skinny guys who batter me up hills all year!.. :D

Banking looks scary but you soon get up there even on the tasters, it is weird riding round alongside somebody below you though

give it a go…just remember don't stop peddaling!

Here you go fella, I'm sat in one at the moment! though at 5.5m by 4m its a big shed!

These guys will build you any thing you want out of 28mm, 34mm or 44mm thick timber for a good price…haggle they dropped lower than the advertised prices easily

decent quality and easy to erect too

Love the XO myself run it for nearly 3 years now, nice clunky changes, lightweight, bling looks you very rarely need to adjust the indexing, these are the main positives

downside is cost though CRC had the rear mech for £99 the other day, Merlin often have deals on the shifters

in use the only issue/quirk is if you don't move your thumb quick it will double shift down as they are lightening fast

Big John's right about the Beast short cut, stop at the cafe half way round and ask somebody, but it's quite easy to see, misses out some pointless fireroad stuff…forecast is minging for tomorrow mind… till midday anyway

Nickc last descents on Marin cut up a lot in the last year, due to DH lads "sessioning" them I reckon long travel bikes just fine now, though a pain on those looong fire road climbs!

Beast is the best trail, then Pen and Marin in that order, all well marked out, Beast and Marin will be drier on Sunday as Pen holds more water.

what are you like fitness wise as doing both Pen amd Marin will be 4.5 hrs plus riding, beast about 3.5 hrs

Betsy co ed is the only one that annoys me at all!…

Just be flattered that so many people of any nationality want to come and play in our back yard!..keeps the money rolling in nicely

re Afan vs A van splitting hairs as differences would be noted in pronounciation across Wales anyway!

Yep wasn't meant as an insult Hora, just personally I'd always prefer something a little different eg a 916 over a blade (at the time) despite the fact it lost out on reliability, economy etc

GaryLake..few hundred bikes a year ….for years, adds up you know! maybe the owners gravitate towards trailcentres as the bike works so well there?

Both great to ride (shortish demos though) but problem with the 5 is it's just so commonplace…I know it's cos it's great for the money! The Yeti is still a bit more boutique I reckon…5 is the Fireblade of the MTB world. great all-rounder, good VFM but everybodys got one!

ps Is it me, or would the Orange look so much better with an oversized seat tube?

Why not do some proper market research? you can test any ideas you may have and actually get some input into what people want. Not sure what the rules are about this on here but its not hard to use something like survey monkey which costs peanuts to run for a few months, put a link on here with some wiggle or CRC vouchers as an incentive for completion and I'm sure you'd get a lot of responses, be happy to give you some advice on setting it up…or get it done independently to give you evidence of potential market if you want to approach some possible investors

Cos even when its lashing down it usually brightens up! Did just over 3 hrs tonight bit of drizzle once or twice but mostly dry! ace ride too, mountains to the dunes…I love Wales

Think it was Sean kelly who said you can never really tell how cold and wet it is until you ride in it for a while…by then you are wet any way so may as well stay out!

freaks…I just wander round and see what inspires me, buy stuff thats on offer or reduced…steaks especially…charge you extra for aged beef then 50% off when reaches the sell by date! WTF

Not much gets wasted in my house just use your imagination and keep an eye on whats left in the fridge

Rigid meal plans are so sad…you guys in Farrah trousers yet?

rode it last Thursday night in low cloud…try that cos low visibility ups the excitement no end!

I researched this myself …ranged from macho responses like back in work the next day (Dad)through to off the bike for months (on here) I was uncomfortable for two days (mostly on sofa as doc advised) light jog/walk on third day back on road bike after five days (clubs post Xmas booze ride so may have helped the pain!) slight infection bit of pus to expel for a few days but fine since!

Bit of perspective…worked in one for three years thru uni so got an idea of what I am talking about!

Pro's of a McJob…money was ok, big organisation so secure, very flexible on shifts (worked loads of nights so riding time was ok) and they actually offer people prepared to graft the opportunity to get promoted…irrespective of academic qualifications if you have the right attitude you can achieve something! where other companies recruited graduates for management training Macs promoted from within. Food freshly prepared is pretty tasty too, and there were no issues with hygiene either

Cons.. uniform was gash…but then I worked in Halfords in school so am used to grey jumpsuits! sanctimonious veggie students, and lack of variety of burgers (early nineties)

I take my kids in now and again, and am not frightened to eat it…everything in moderation and all that!..

re chips with beef added…never saw that on a label!…long time ago I think the fat they cooked them in contained some beef fat maybe….but pretty sure it's all veg based oils now.
