@Garry_Lager got on great thanks, only downside was my blood sugars were useless as stressing too much! I’ve got a new vitus too and it’s safe to say the mud clearances weren’t tested yesterday! Funnily enough my back tyre pressure wasn’t holding either but got around ok and pleased with beating a few people I’m usually in the mix with 😉 looking forward to Erias Park… hopefully the dry conditions continue 🙏

Baffles me how an activity that was made illegal 15 years ago still carries on regardless… with the police turning a blind eye to it… no reason at all to keep a pack of hounds anymore is there? If I had a disused meth lab and all the ingredients present but promised I wouldn’t make illicit drugs do you reckon the constabulary would just take my word for it?😉

This isn’t old skool campag..trust me… compared to my force axs it’s like beating your laundry on rocks rather than using a washing machine 🙄

Johndoh… maybe you’ve just got one of those faces😉 grew up in the valleys, uni in Stoke (only place a gang of lads tried to bundle me into a transit to give me a kicking) and have lived in North Wales past 25 years, I’d say the valleys folk are a little more open and friendly TBH got plenty of good mates up here too tho… if you have an open mind and are friendly, maybe even learn a few words of Welsh you’ll be fine! I’d go South purely because of Cardiff… riding mountains and coast are similar North and South

White chocolate and grated ginger! Stoke also had some good balti houses and always enjoyed a mooch around Rourkies and Swinnertons

You can hire SUP, kayaks etc, beach is great for Corrie star spotting, or occasional football players (apparently I wouldn’t know one if I fell over them) beach is great and town ok for basics shopping wise, be aware nobody sells food after 9pm no chippys or pizza places etc. Ty Coch at Morfa Nefyn worth a walk as its a must see locally

Rhug bison burger is seriously disappointing… boggo white bap no trimmings and an ok burger but nothing special…. you won’t go wrong with the plough at St asaph, literally 30 seconds from A55 … eat there loads and am never disappointed

At Bristol bike fest mate got a tick on his ankle… removed by St John’s… got home to North Wales found one on his old fella! Went to A+E … old female nurse asked if a couple of jnr docs could take a look at a live tick… cue a couple of fitties coming in for a gawp and then leave
Nurse tries to remove tick and after struggling for a bit embarrassingly mentions it would be easier if he was erect so she had something to lever against! “OK you’d better get the jnr Docs in again then” was his tactful reply!

Absolutely ridiculous idea also guessing the teachers for it have long since retired. I’m 50 and can remember the husband and wife latin/classics teachers from my dodgy valleys comprehensive being made redundant as they are family friends.
This must have been 25 plus years ago…. last day in the staff room the head stands up and thanks them for their service does a speech and hopes the redundancy package helps as finding jobs teaching the subject will be difficult. They thank him very much and mention that after their 6 weeks summer break they’ll be starting work in a private school…. on a lot more money…. in Bermuda 😉

@funkybaj first time bikepacking so probably took too much stuff but really enjoyed it despite the weather and midges! On a vitus cross bike so 33tooth sprocket made some of the climbs a bit tough! Would defo do it again… only downside was the late change to the accommodation arrangement but got an ok campsite nearby

For information just finished Walesduro 21 this weekend, on passing the bothy by Ponterwyd it has posters nearby saying it was still closed due to covid. Didn’t check if it was locked though so worth checking on the bothy association website before relying on it fella

Clearance is great… just stuck 50mm gravel tyres on mine for the Walesduro thing next weekend… got the AXS force version and am very impressed with the overall package for the price.

Elemnt bolt v2 wouldn’t fit a rotatable garmin mount…. oh and I wouldn’t advise buying one anyway… Read the reviews!

Nope unfortunately mate has previous model and loves it so recommended new one… silly me thought a manufacturer would test things like tree cover … Bwlch Y Groes steep hills before launch?… having read reviews wouldn’t have touched it!

Conan..you can get that data on your smartwatch or Garmin now but needs miou miou to link it…DickBarton yep that little watch looks like a godsend for us! I see supersapiens as a testbed for future diabetes tech… as it “isn’t ” a medical product they can experiment with oddball ideas without regulatory intervention and licensing requirements…

Cheers buddy I was on here posting something else and remembered the slippage! Just googled it and realised they’re everywhere 😳 what a donut… nightshift is seriously bad for my brain!

Yep I get that TUE will be available… and believe that for non diabetic riders their use will be as frustrating as hell… after a couple of years using libre and following Supersapiens on Facebook, its mostly taught me the human body is amazingly complex and difficult to predict even with this technology!

I just can’t understand why its banned… even if you discovered a magic bullet level of blood sugars that turned you into Lance Armstrong maintaing that level mid race would be very hard

Its a pain…someone rang yesterday to let me know my national insurance number had been compromised 😉

Agree don’t block all numbers..especially if you’ve got kids… school nurse used to ring on a withheld number if my two were ever sick in school.. stupid really as I imagine a fair few parents wouldn’t answer

I’m with Gary L on this… just got a new cross bike and was debating a power meter.

Then remembered the times I seem to be sat there turning the cranks without actually going anywhere in thick slop…. not sure how useful it would be?😉

If its being done on a no win no fee basis the solicitor will need medical history to ensure you haven’t had previous issues with that shoulder…. if you did it would seriously reduce the amount of your claim and the costs they could charge the council. As mentioned it will also reduce the likelihood of them winning the case….potentially leaving them out of pocket! I think its a sign of a professional outfit.
Incidentally Leigh Day are handling my case having been knocked off in December and am pleased with how its going 🙂

Le col sleeves aren’t particularly long… plus i find the jerseys a bit short in the body and I’m only 5 10 ish… plus the pockets are quite high up so you’d probably need to dislocate an elbow to get in one if you’ve got long arms😉

Exiled Taff here…. been up here 27 years so it can’t be that bad! The flattyres link will show you a few rides, Colin who coordinates the stuff on there hosts midweek rides regularly (pre covid) often around the Clwyds.. Halkyn has a few good places, mostly xc stuff but there are a few cheeky Dh trails around Clwyds area if that’s your thing… message me when you’re up here for a guided tour of the Clwyds if you fancy it

Ooh ooh… from O level metal work, you can anneal aluminium by heating it to 350° soap blackens at this temperature so rub some soap on the metal… I’m 50 and have never needed this information so why has my brain retained it?…

Bike related… took Jase McCs Specialized for a play to Beddgelert early 90s fitted pedals only to realise forgotten spd shoes… shredded an inner tube and tied to pedals… pretty grippy for flats. Bought first set of DX spd pedals late 80s Xmas present off parents opened them Xmas day only one steel backing plate there, fuming got to shop as soon as it opened on 28th… for the guy to slide the two plates apart.. film of oil holding them together..

Typing this in A+E having fainted twice in work this morning, 2nd day in new job … feel a right dick! And panicking they’ll just lay me off!

Contact Leigh Day…. I’ve got a claim going through currently and am pleased with service so far, I was worried about the cars insurance as I was filtering but their summary was “your client failed to give way and struck our client ” dead simple and no argument… I was covered by BC and its well worth the membership fee

Yep… I do a lot of rides/runs fasted now… if I’m around 6/7 getting up then I’ll inject 2 units fiasp for a 10 mile run… libre will show bg rising until insulin kicks in, meaning its usually about 6/8 by the time I get back. On a big ride at that level in the morning I’d inject 1 unit and half the ratio of units to carbs on a cafe stop. Been a lot braver since I got libre with skipping breakfast and keeping bg lower on a ride… can’t wait to get a pump but local NHS in no rush to recomence face2face appointments 😒

Just go buddy, I’m in Wales on the coast and the numbers of tourists are ramping up already, big families with English accents bbq-ing on the Great Orme on Sunday! You’ve got a legitimate reason to visit and unless you stop at tourist hot spots you’re unlikely to be stopped…. gutted for you 😢
