Yep Crell off here tried to nick my Fuquay once!

I was in a phone box calling my girlfriend when he decided to run off with it for a laugh…I was out of the box with my hands round his throat in seconds…adrenaline shot was insane! he pannicked a bit and croaked out "Justin it's me!"…Mrs thought I'd been mugged!

I recovered a mates bike too once …saw a guy riding along on it and I just grabbed him and told him it was nicked…miraculously a copper on a police bike passed a minute later and I flagged him down…mate was gutted though cos he'd got a new one coming from the insurance co…don't know what happened to the guy who bought it

Daffy I think that lockout is the best I've used feel almost rigid for looong fire roads but blow off gives you full travel if you forget to knockit of for descents or hit some rough stuff on the climb! Don't forget the guys just knackered his Talas!

Hmmm..how will all the Turner owners feel about loads of SLX equipped ones knocking about for pennies…surely not a good move on Turners part…gotta be the quickest way to de-value the brand?

Gareth I got the DT swiss 130mm version a couple of months ago, they are awesome, very plush, launch control is great for climbing and the 15mm axle makes them super stiff and pretty bling….can't believe they haven't all been snapped up yet.

Stanchions and steerer tube seem to coated in the same material…very hard to scratch with a hacksaw so bodes well for grit resistance…go for it!

Completed it and left details…why not be made aware of any anti-cycling surveys?…Knackers them for anti cycling PR hooks which are probably the point of this survey…trying to get some Bulls**t story in the Mail!

Want or need?….not sure you'd notice one less gear…plus reckon a 34 on the rear is plenty for a man of your calibre

With your spindly legs….better off with a quad setup..4 chainrings at the front …you can just use your existing chainset and get some TA rings mate…could have asked me about this yesterday…I had enough breath to talk on a coulple of occaisions!

Yep hardcotes are great ….no chainsuck here but the original chainring bolts needed a washer to work with the new rings

I ride with a bunch of lads from http://www.vcmelyd.co.uk both on or off road, bridleways, trail centres and cheeky stuff…rules nope!..other than bring some beer to our parties/barbies…great to have company for rides 4 times a week if you want it, we all have a laugh at the Dyfi, Marin Rough ride etc…admin side is minimal other than p@@@ taking on the website and sorting out the Xmas party and comedy awards ceremony..best crasher last year ended up on a pub roof!

You can ride with us without giving up your individuality…really are a welcoming bunch who actively encourage new riders…joining is very much optional!

I think the OP has over-reacted totally, chances are the group may well have thought he was a straggler they were waiting for.

Looking at peoples faces is a natural reaction, I find I consciously have to try not to do it with a head mounted light on

OP needs to lighten up a bit ..how much did they really delay you by?

Try taking them up on the offer of a ride…sound like an ok bubnch to me!

Yeah see your point on that Cynic al..bust a couple of Hopes, couple of ringle's too, but all back in the day and radially spoked…all replaced under warrantee…I assume Shimano are maybe tougher cos there's a bit more material (and therefore weight) to them. Got some Mavic road hubs on an old winter bike that must be 20plus years old and still going strong!

Yep..new hub after 4yrs…don't think I'd be complaining

Got some armour you can borrow!…um..the one thing they hate more than wet slabs are roots…sorry…use my set once/twice a year for the Dyfi and Marin rough ride…scariness is offset by the way the eat up (nibble up at my speed TBH) those long climbs

Anybody got any tips for removing a freehub body (hope) thats welded itself to the axle..seems almost impossible to shift?

Re…erosion…did my usual local loop(mix of cheeky, bridleways and quiet lanes on both Sat and Sunday this weekend, it was a bit claggy in places but my tyre prints were shallower than bootprints…and hoofprints were way deeper again. On the Sunday loop the previous days tyre prints were totally obscured by walkers boots on the cheeky bits,(mine were the only tracks visible) so I reckon the walkers round here:- A. outnumber bikers and B. cause more damage

Re. pace yep we probably do travel faster..It's called fun!…odd concept for ramblers!

A lot of this is age related too…rambling seems to attract more than its fair share of older people who can be somewhat dogmatic…or even plain miserable

I'm as positive as you can be given we've just lost THE important game!…feel normal service will be resumed soon in the front row which will obviously help the scrums and lineout…Hookys try was a stunner…I reckon we'll see a few more of that quality from Wales throughout the next few games…AWJ was a donkey for the trip..but we also saw footage of an English player doing the same and getting away with it…I reckon an English binning would have put a different complexion on it

PS Just wonder how many of those calling Andy Powell Mongo would do it to his face?..(he's sorta related )

Had an Alpinestars Al Mega DX…sub 16" stays if memory serves, still the best climbing bike I've ridden on really steep stuff…Crell you've forgotten no chainsuck…easily done at your age!…so no gash XT sharkfin required!

Whatever he gets is gonna feel way better than a 12yr old bike! If your mate likes his Marin get another one…still a lifetime warrantee on the frames, if he's not too fashion concscious (prob not if on a 12yr old bike) lots of 09 stuff around at a discount

Also test rides are great …get him to try loads(if he can)

Zesty's are pretty awesome for the cash I reckon too…he really needs to think about where and how he rides ythough!

I got my E5 cos it was the best equipped bike for the cash, £1000 quid off as it was a (model) year old and has a lifetime frame warantee (on my 2nd now) I would love an Intense Tracer but its a lot of cash for sommat that could be scrap if the frame goes outside of the 2 yrs they warrantee them for!

PS ORANGE BOUTIQUE…you are having a laff!

Can't believe nobody suggested calling a locksmith! neighbour is one does this all the time….worthwhile storing the number of one in your phone! Window excesses typically £70 these days, only free for stone chips!

Jim…suprised at that 11% difference…assumed Tescos et al would screw you for far more off!..do they get longer payment terms etc?

Looking at where you live can see where you are going with LBS's you can't get anything remotely technical round here!

p.s if you fancy a spin locally get in touch
