    Hi Mate

It’s all about experimenting I’m afraid… I reduce background for big rides and use a weak Maxim solution in bottles or Camelbak

Start at 12 and test after an hour is good advice…I tend to half my insulin to CP ratio for my pre ride meal

I like to eat a 1.5cp cereal bar every 1.5-2hrs… and jelly babies for turbo boosting my final climb home

Tell your riding buddies how to spot hypos…. my power drops dramatically if I get below 6 tho so easy to spot

I’m careful to avoid hypos the following day too if I’ve done a big ride…reduce ratios a little

I’m only 20 months in so quite new to this but feel free to email for more info…or look up my original post when first diagnosed..got some top advice from guys on here

Hey Rorschach you been up there or did you google that?..guy riding was great he used the BMX track to warm up for crit racing on our road circuit :D we get a lot of 4X and MTBers riding at Rhyl great to practice jumping and pumping…most of the older guys use a cruiser to start with as they seem a little more stable

Marsh Tracks quiet at night so no need for you to be worried about the kids…average age of riders some nights must be 35!…feels great riding under floodlights too!

Sick…neighbours daughter witnessed similar in Africa…truck hit a kid breaking his leg….then proceeded to engage reverse gear to finish him off…she dragged him out of the way, told they couldn’t afford hospital treatment so it was common practice…happy ending was she paid for kids leg repair…makes you realise how lucky we are here

Agree Hooky’s performance is mostly related to lack of time at 10 this season…should be rectified when he starts getting regular gametime in this position

In summary I’m really proud of the Welsh team both on and off the pitch, but frustrated by the kicking letting us down….the major plus point being it must be the easiest part of the game to practice?

Wales have the best prospects for good performances for the next few years too

Hope the French realise how lucky they are to be in the final….at least they can thank Monsieur Rolland in his mother tongue

    Bring on the 6 nations!

Hi Fella…. I’ve only had Type1 for 18months and not a pump user but reckon control is as much art as science…what works one ride wont (always) work the next, Hypos for me (rare tbh) affect me riding the following day…reckon there is a seasonal aspect to it too, winter coming and your body needs change…. To cheer you up I got taken out in a road race last night, chainring holes in shin, cut nose and black eye…funny bit was my shorts lost a back panel so my arse was hanging out like I was wearing camp boys chaps  mates threatening to get pics up on facebook…chin up fella its just a blip!

Yep Poly…borrowing a pump may not be an issue but if the “guide” neglects the basics what state will his first aid kit be in?

overcrowding a minibus is fine until it rolls and you find you have no travel insurance to pay your hospital bills and possible medi flight home…. same for biking non authorised trails…ok doing cheeky trails at home the NHS will pick up the tab… holiday insurers will take any opportunity to wriggle out of a claim guys!

Fronts a doddle (I got Hope rear) BETD for bearings(order two sets) as mine are an ODD size….15268 from memory normal bearing guys couldn’t source them, CRC took literally months despite owning hotlines the importers

I run a BMX track and have a lot of hassle off some kids when I make them wear a lid…one of the worst offenders (forgetting to wear one for a lap) tried to manual a jump and looped out…landed on the back of his head…fully accepts he’d now be dead/seriously messed up and has become an advocate for their use

I ride the track and dont use the brake…unless somebody crashes in front of me…feet on the floor dont work trust me

lots of mtbers start on hardtails but are getting the BMX bug…Jedi will be pleased to learn!

if you took it out a few weeks ago it will come out more easily next time, you got some fine wire (fuse wire) or really small safety pins handy?..any of these will do…push em through and twist em into a lump that will stop it falling out…

Tyler got a vested interest publicity wise…and the unborn twin thing means I wouldn’t trust him especially with a book to flog

Armstrong built a team soley dedicated to one outcome…him winning one race…I think that’s achievable for a clean rider…look at what Wiggo did and I think most of us trust him…same for Boardman…however do these results stand if they were built on the efforts of dopers? (does the fact all/most other teams were the same level this playing field)

What about Cav…he seems in a different league to other sprinters in the TDF…any sceptics about that success?

    Hey Joe

not sure a typical mountain leader could do a succesful single speed conversion with no MTB knowlege as you imply!

SMBLA stuff (MBLand TCL) was fun and I learned stuff after 20yrs on a MTB

Jon Collins 1MTB1 is a good guy I’d reccomend!

BC membership gives you insurance cover to lead groups if you have these quals and a 1st aid cert….so thats one less worry!

anyone unfortunate enough to see the alledged comic play at the comedy fest on the saturday night of the Dyfi this year?

    Yep he’s an inspiration!

I did half his planned challenge last yr in 3 and a bit days and that was tough!…beer/cider fuelled evenings may have contributed though :-)

You can follow his progress…weathers a bit crap in N Wales at the mo so that wont help

(especially as we won’t actually get a press pass for the event itself)

How poor is that?…I was already sulking about how cyclings been shafted in terms of post games infrastructure…and the fact they could have built a world class course by venturing into South Wales…now STW wont even be there to cover events

I’ve done the MBLA TCL and MBL over the last yr or so, mainly cos I organise rides for my local club and we get people out riding with us who are relative beginners.

The awards have given me more confidence teaching riding skills….a bunnyhop may be so instinctive after 20yrs riding how do you explain how you actually do it?

plus the club feels with me being qualified should a newbie rider crash and try to sue me/us then having recognised qualifications are a help

I really enjoyed the training with Jonathen Collins at 1Bike1 and would recommend him…learned a few new bits round Nant BH and Conwy that were great to ride too.

passing isn’t that easy either you do need to put a bit of effort into navigation, leadership styles and lesson planning…seen people employed in outdoor pursuits fail!

I’ve done a bit of paid coaching and believe you can find work via BC and MBLA websites…its great to see beginners improve having mastered a couple of basic techniques…One guy halved the time it took him to do the red at Llandegla after 2hrs coaching

Think Mark was involved in the NOTW phone tapping scandal….been behaving ever since

Agree CRC could have mailed us all to check our accounts…not shy about bombarding us with mails about offers!…BUT if there proves to be no link then that would have just been a pointless PR disaster for their customers who maybe wouldn’t have got to hear about it via sites like STW
