Sorry for the delay Lefty,
Yes ATB sales… A little cryptic, I know… Not an easy guess.
A bit like the manuals in general!
But yes, thats the people, just ask for technical sales. They are aware of the problem..
Btw, I commented to them about the derisory “rockshox” suspension manuals offered.
Talk about chocolate fire guard…the books I mean-
They tell you the square root of “FA”
I consider myself experienced; but I am a little upset about the l lack of component information on such an high profile
And expensive piece of kit.whyteniteFree MemberGuys.
2015 bike owners; Did you get the proper 2015 service manual with
Your new bike.
Btw, I didn’t !
So no reference to sag on my model!?
Bit of a bummer. Pike has no scaling on the tele tubes.
How do you set the sag…?
BTW.. I resolved the prob by phoning Whyte directly and obtaining
Correct manual.
Anybody else caught?whyteniteFree Member@dvowles82,
As far as I know; The bigger the wheel diameter, the less suspension travel you need; and vis versa.
My experience with suspension pressure is to read carefully the handbook. Different makes-different shakes!
Take what the LBS staff say with a pinch of salt, with all due respect!
As far as fork stroke suitability…I’ll leave for others to comment-whyteniteFree MemberJust to inform everybody, The T130 Works are coming through now.
Mines here ..YESSSS!
I think Lefty’s Roam wheel deliveries were the clue!..
BTW.. Thanks for the Photo’s Lefty.. I’ve been drooling- lovelywhyteniteFree MemberHi Lefty,
So to answer my query, it seems your bike shop have favoured you be eating deep into their commercial margin;
To Which I say congratulations you are favoured…Only if they do that with two many other customers it could be them in a crisis meeting.. Lol- just kidding!
Hope you get your bike dammed quick and your knee is well on the mend.
Did a 12 mile trail last night. Got caught in a massive downpour finished soaked to the knackers, full of mud.
Laying in a nice warm bath … I thought- I love trail riding
-signing out, Be well all..whyteniteFree MemberSo lefty I reckon you’ve payed an extra £100 for the Hope brakes and about £400 for the wheels…
Fair enough!whyteniteFree MemberOk fellas,
Basically i have been scrolling and number crunching through the list price of
various related components for the T130 and deducting those from the list price of the bike.
A simple calc tells me that parts must be heavily discounted to manufacturer to allow room for margin on frame manufacture; the discount of which, some of that must find its way to retail buyer.
Suppose what i’m asking is… From your experience.. Is the list price for everything, even on a new out bike
Negotiable?whyteniteFree MemberBit confused about whats bought, hired or loaned?
Just tring to follow the logic of grabing extra wheels!
ie- the cost of total real outlay over and above the £3000 for the new bike.
And what you get to keep for the money in the end?
-just curious.whyteniteFree MemberAs a bit of a treat guys; check out my friend’s foray into filmmaking;
filmed a couple of years ago on my favourite local trail in Mirfield, West Yorkshire…i’ll say no more:whyteniteFree Member@hammer
When you’re tearing though those trails this winter .. And you step off the bike to behold a frame looking like
Neils out of the “young ones” bath tub .. Who cares!?
Beside, with the amount of nite riding going on for me the next six months!!
With this bike.. For me the beauty is on the inside-whyteniteFree MemberGuys,
I’m a long time mechanical engineer and a recent mountain biker. The X1 chainset
has quality written all over it (check out the SRAM website).
The Quality components fitted to this bike means that for the £3k price tag, I think this
represents VALUE.. Big time.
How it rides.. For now..I can only dream…whyteniteFree Member@hammer.. This thread has Playboy channel levels of excitement. I am beside myself here.
..almost torture. Come on upload a pix.. On second thoughts- NO DON’T. I will pass out.
Just a small report will do you jammy sod.whyteniteFree Member@dcowles82,
As the saying goes- A bird in the hand…
For some people talking is a way of sharing
Their imagination.. Bullshit somehow is a self fulfilling prophesy..
An art form that makes the world a happy place…
For the rest of us.. It is annoyance on a stick..
…as far as know, next years models are available for the most
Part end of season.. Meaning summer..
July is not quite there for a completely new model.
– shouldn’t be long now mate!whyteniteFree MemberOh.. Very good.
BTW.. Thought i’d call my LBS this afternoon. Haven’t really bothered
Them since I ordered bike…
They phoned through to check up my bike status and
are….wait for it.. Pretty sure mines one of three due next week!!!I’ll show my arse….I mean bike.. If it does…
whyteniteFree MemberOk Lefty,
I take it you’re unsure about the standard supply of SRAM Guide brakes..?
Fair enough.. Yet another brand new untried product for this much awaited bike!.. Again initial reports are very positive.
I myself, have have had a little trouble with the reliability and supply of “whyte” brand mechanical parts
for my Old T120. So…
One of the things that attracted me towards this bike is the fact that, all the parts are
SRAM.. Although it is tempting at this stage to think that this assumption could be
misplaced; I think in the longer term… a reliable supply is assured!?Be well-
whyteniteFree MemberBTW.. Whyte are supplying you the 11 speed cassette separately
I presume? You WILL need this for sure!whyteniteFree MemberI hear the delay problem with the T 130 is availability of the
Wheels!?
It sounds like a few of you are asking for supply without these,
Presumably with an alternative to fit in the meantime!Seams a bit drastic to have to swap the 11 speed cassette especially
When the promised SRAM roam 40 wheel set £539) seem fantastic on the face of itI for one am waiting!
whyteniteFree MemberHi Leftyboy.
Yeah, we are kind of in the zone. Bikes are infinitely
better than they were when we were in our 20,s.. and for most
of our age group.. We can afford the best!
The art is keeping our bodies worthy of the challenge!Let us all know the score with the T130- Regards
whyteniteFree MemberHi Leftyboy,
I agree. Once I reach that sweet level of fitness.. On approaching the last leg
Of my favourite 10 mile trail ride after nursing a small injury from Lake District blast (scar fell pike area)
And a near six week break interval ; The feeling of returning fully fit and exhilarated.. The nearest
To feeling 10 yo i’ve felt for a long time.
Hope you LOVE you’re new bike- Be Well!whyteniteFree MemberYes… It is a highly spec bike for the money.. & the latest spec to Boot!
Be Patient.. It is next years model. Young men can’t wait.- amusing.
Just keep using your old bike with a air of nostalgia..
I’m 50 next year & –
believe me.. I saviour the young models.. More than you can ever imaging.. He he.whyteniteFree MemberSince I ordered a t-130 Works. I have been hungry for reviews and have been following your comments closely.
My present Bike is a Whyte T120- 2012.
I have been seriously trail riding only since newly acquiring this machine.
I have twice injured myself over the handlebars on the downhills (just sprains and bruises) some of it attributed to skill level issues and error;
But a portion can be laid at the bike being a size too big.
I am 5’10.5 tall but; I have long torso, short legs making me top heavy. The large bike frame mis-sold to me, limits the amount of seat post drop.
On ordering my new T-130 from LBS, I was lucky enough to try a new large framed t-130s that was available, and I knew straight away, the frame was definitely too big for my 31″ inside leg; the 125mm reverb seat- post tells no lies.
Get yourself measured properly or try a few size if in doubt!
For me, I am pretty certain the medium frame on 650b wheel and a slacker head, is going to be for me, a revelation;
Safer, better, Particularly with the great spec.. Can’t wait.
