Was 2018 but I stayed in Port Soller and hired a bike from Traumantara Tours on the front near my hotel. My mate took his in a bike bag and stressed about it the whole trip. I had a beautiful Trek with di2 and carbon loved it.

Over Puig Major to Sa Calobra and back was a fabulous day on the bike. Then we went up to Pollenca for the ride out to the Cap next day. Beautiful roads and country. Would love to do more of that some day.

A timely post, I was out on the road bike on Monday for the first time in a couple of weeks and had 6 very close passes and a head on white van man overtaking a parked car transporter.

    Camera recommends please…..

Annual pass for Eurosport is coming to an end this month and now considering do I go to Discovery or stick with Eurosport.

Are they different or just the same? Its now £6.99 pm from £40 for the year.

I need the most glitch free/tech lit option available as its not for me but my 83 yr old Dad who watches every race. We bought him a new smart TV recently and put the app on it rather than an a small iPad, given how many buttons he has to go press to get to watch the app I need something that I won’t be troubleshooting every feed zone of a race.

I’m staying at my friends place this weekend in Embleton. Village has a pub (open fires, dog friendly and grub), shop, hotel (food and drink pretty decent). 15 min downhill walk to the golf club club house (all welcome) beach takes you to Dunstanburgh Castle in one direction and the village of Newton-by-the-Sea in the other direction, complete with the Ship Inn on the beach and The Joiners further up in the village.

You can walk miles of the coastal path from here, the village also has a hourly bus to get you to Seahouses if you don’t fancy the drive, Alnwick or get off at Alnmouth and walk the coastal path back to Embleton in time for beer and crisps.

His place has 3 bedroom and 2 bath rooms, sizeable back garden and is dog friendly.

Interesting to see the price variations of VM for the basic no frills packages.

I’m on the basic stuff M250 Mixit TV and talk weekends phone line. Just gone up to £72, 18 months ago it was £55.

I’ve not been on a contract for years just keeps rolling and going up (more frequently)

If you could ever get through to call centres I would ring and try my luck with haggling, this week I’ve had car bodyshop 45mins, car insurance 2hrs and pension provider 35 mins time I should have spent pedalling.

EDIT: so no need for call centre, a couple of checks on the account and I can get the next TV package (that means nowt to me to be honest) and more landline calls during the week (again no value its never used) and the same broadband for £58 for 18months.

or increase BB speed to M350 for £58 for 18 months.

Either way its £14 back in my pocket.

EDIT EDIT: and another thing with VM, Bolt from 02 another company I’ve been with for years and pay for 3 phones, no benefit whatsoever as neither 02 or VM say I have an account with the other.

@bunnyhop I’m in the last few chapters and I’m always amazed how those with a drug and alcohol laced past can be so clear on things that happened whilst in the same sentence be off their feet on tequila and powder.

I do take some great pub quiz question stuff from the book though, which member of Dads Army has a son who played in a band with the man who wrote candle in the wind type stuff.

I’ve been saving this read for a day when inspiration was needed (because for sure, such a day is occasionally if not regularly needed) and I just knew this would tick my box. Like saving the best haribo in the packet till last on a ride I’ve waited for the day when this read was required and thoroughly enjoyed every word, image and insight offered.

I’m encouraged, inspired and grateful. Thanks Amanda and Rhys for your story.

I watched the two films on YouTube last week, you’ve been trumped and you’ve been trumped too. Nothing really new about the guy, it just reinforces what we already know about him being a complete ****

the local people in the film who lived around the course area came across well, the government and police force in Scotland did not come across well at all.

Currently on Bernie Taupin’s autobiography which is name drop heaven.

Something I enjoyed late last year was the story of the USS Jeanette, In the Kingdom of Ice. I’ve been interested in reading about exploration since reading a book about Shackletons mission, this Jeanette story is amazing and includes the origin of the saying ‘Gordon Bennett!’ (One for the kids there)

Not sure what’s on my bookshelf next

Sales is about understanding fully your product first and then when meeting with potential customers listening to the problems they have and fitting your product into that issue as the solution (assuming it will fit, if it doesn’t don’t try to sell something that will only come back to bite you hard). Once you have ably demonstrated how your product solves the problems the client has then you have established yourself as somebody who listens and can offer solutions. You are no longer seen as salesperson but somebody who fixes problems, and the world is full of people with problems. Your skills will be in demand. And if you don’t have the solution learn the marketplace competition and recommend someone else’s product, people value honesty and will trust you even more.

The ears and mouth should be used in the ratio you possess them. Do twice as much listening as talking, you’ll be amazed what people will tell you.

    And be nice.

This has probably been mentioned a couple of pages back already, the Rest is Politics podcast with Campbell and Stewart (which I have to say even just listening to a couple, I would like it if political opponents could discourse in the same manner eg. adult) they spoke with Scaramucci.

I learned a lot about the funding rules for campaigns and US politics in general. Even if he is declared bankrupt and a fire sale takes place of property etc, I still think backers would find a way to financially support a trump campaign with little issue. The base will always crowdfund him and right wingers with very deep pockets will get around that $2k limit with ease.

You really have to hope he keeps upsetting the more placid republicans (sic?) who would like a return to some normality in their party. I don’t think even on this side of the water I could put up with his incessant BS tweets morning noon and night, god knows what its like on TV over there having to put up with the noise.

Have just returned from a week working in Ireland. What hard work/great fun. Dublin to Galway then to Limerick via Cliffs of Moher and a perfectly timed sunset, we drove up corkscrew hill which looks like fun on the road bike. After Limerick we went to Cork and then back to Dublin. Was quite sad at heading home.16DCE044-D304-4032-BA00-B6DC94B8E319

I did see Guy Martin in the Gateshead branch of Evans once.

I’m featuring (probably briefly) in a show for Netflix this Thursday, that is we are filming on Thursday not broadcasting.

Never made it anywhere near RN submarine skipper, but my first Captain was an heir to the Gordon’s gin empire so was the story onboard anyway, lovely guy who made fishing flies whilst we were at sea. Also a mate once rang the Capt ( who was a commander) and referred to him as skipper and was given the reply ‘this is a **** submarine not a fishing vessel’

Out of yesterday’s newspapers probably isn’t an answer you can give anymore, all seems to be cardboard cartons nowadays, which means at least you don’t have newsprint all over ya fingers.
These cones of chips present an issue with condiments, I was in Amsterdam in Feb and the top layer were coated in mayo meaning fingers were covered in thick sauce trying to get at the things and the other 90% of frittes were just scalding hot and no mayo.

Potatoes are the finest most versatile food stuff in the world, I do love em in all there forms.

If the OP is still looking for somewhere to stop whilst heading to Scotland, I do believe the Cottage Inn at Dunstan near Craster on the coast allows motorhomes and campers in their pretty big car park at the rear of the pub. Place does decent food and beers and is handy for a walk down to the harbour if you fancy. I don’t think they charge, but like a few others wouldn’t mind you buying a pint or two. There are 2 ‘official’ campsites very close by that I’ve stayed in many a time, but the pub always seems to do a decent trade from those 1 nighters just passing through.

PSA; beware the small jack russell that frequents the bar with its owner, snappy little get (so is the dog)

I had Labrynthitis 3 years ago, absolutely horrible. Felt like I had had a stroke, mouth wouldn’t work, limbs were sluggish, brain stopped completely being able to focus on the simplest things. Tablets for it were awful as well. Not a  nice experience.

I didn’t bike at this site but walking was good and village walk was pretty and short, Cae Du Campsite near Beddgelert.
Also stayed in Barmouth that trip at Hendre Mynach site. Rode up the old line to Dolgellau. Not challenging but then I was allowed to go play at CYB the whole of one day which was fun.

Jnr. used to work for an Academy chain in London, Harris. Lord Harris is the top dog, old mate of Maggie back in the day. I think the group ‘educate’ something like 4/10 London pupils.

She found the whole CEO, business manager, SLT stuff just a racket for old mates.

I suppose this is more likely another misdirection from Johnson, something he excels at. Puts his old man up for a knighthood knowing it will grab the headlines, meanwhile down at the bottom of the list gongs for those who supplied wallpaper, villas in Italy, NY apartments, private jets etc etc

Good to hear its not happening to other users.

The issues started when you asked via the app for an image to be taken and the message popped up thumbnail unavailable or camera not responding.

Interestingly they do work on attached to a USB cable but I have them mounted outside the house well away from any immediate power source, that was part of the original reason for choosing them that they didn’t require any wiring.

I have 4 in total, 2 slightly newer so I have an additional hub I could try maybe the whole thing needs a reset.

If only all my costs were going up by just 5%. I thought many years ago government capped rises at 5% then they themselves started squeezing councils on public expenditure.

I hate this bloody lot, they only ever bang on about the economy and nowt else, not that they are interested in taking a look around the state of this country but if they did they might notice it’s become a land fill site with some houses on it these last dozen years.

When I left my last job just over 7 years ago, the week before I finished my new company credit card arrived nobody collected my work car and the new Audi 3 turned up.
The same week 3 of the HR teamed left which meant I didn’t get the redundancy payment for another month.

I’m starting to look again right now but in general (not just everyone’s replies above) the workplace seems a bit of toxic place across the board
