Cannock off-piste is not going to respond well to a gazillion tyres this time of year. And no I haven’t ridden it since October.

Looks like it’s made of the same stuff as their waterproof attack shorts, which are brilliant. 😀

Cotswold Outdoor are doing the Etrex 20/30x bundled with free OS mapping (3000 sqm – enough for all of the peaks and a bit of wherever else you fancy). I’ve found the preloaded Garmin map just fine, now it’s based on OSM. The OS maps are better suited for walking, a little too much detail while on the bike.

This is a really good spray. Do pet and human bedding and furniture.

Trail Rat, you can turn the level of detail down in Basecamp so it won’t show river names, etc. Won’t solve the data missing from the OSM maps though! As they’re open source can you submit paths/bridleways to them for inclusion on later versions of OSM?

Stick the maxle qr lever into the notch and try and align it so you can get one foot onto the lever. Then put all your weight onto it. Once loosened and out, grease the axle and surfaces that contact the frame.

A quick press of the on/off button on the right hand side. This also shows how strong the gps signal is. And there is also a setting for the type of battery you are using, ie lithium/alkaline/rechargeable so the battery indicator is accurate. 🙂

No problem CG. When I finish a route I go to Track Manager > Current Track > Save and then name it or just save as the default ride date.

Then I upload the track to Basecamp and save it into ‘My Collection’ and then you can take it off the Etrex. Not had mine long either and still learning about tracks and routes and waypoints, etc!

For two days I’d base myself in Edale and ride the Hollins Cross/Rushup/Roych Clough/Jacob’s Ladder route one day and then Jaggers Clough/Beast/Ladybower/Whinstone Lee Tor the next day. The route on the 2nd day you can add to and take off trails for tired/energetic legs.

Just fired mine up. To change the compass go to:

Setup > Heading > Display > Directional Letters

I know the Etrex models don’t come with a manual in the box so have a butchers at this:

As I remember you can change the compass in the settings menu to just show N,E,S,W.

If switched on the Etrex will automatically record your track but it will be inaccurate unless you reset the time/distance/distance climbed etc first.

To upload the route use the Garmin Basecamp software and attach the Etrex to the pc/laptop via usb/micro usb cable.

There’s a good website here which helps with menu settings, etc –
